00:02From colonial to contemporary landmarks,
00:05Parramatta has more than its share of architectural gems.
00:09It's got the heritage and the history,
00:11but it also is one of the fastest evolving parts of Sydney.
00:14Now the public will get a close-up look
00:16at some of Parramatta's most unique spaces,
00:19including the nation's oldest surviving public building.
00:22I'm based here at Old Government House.
00:24This is my baby.
00:25It's a big baby, but it's a baby.
00:26And I'm hoping to share some information
00:29that's relevant for the people coming along.
00:32Some are rarely open to the public,
00:35like the Parramatta Female Factory,
00:37where thousands of convict women and children once lived.
00:40History is not just limited to the built environment,
00:43it's also about the lives that were affected within these buildings.
00:47For me personally, I'll be taking a day off
00:50and I will be going around to all the other properties
00:53that are also open.
00:54In this local government area, there's over 120 historical sites.
00:58So yeah, there's a lot to learn.
00:59While this is the first time Sydney Open has been expanded beyond the CBD,
01:04there are plans to make the satellite event
01:06an annual feature of the program,
01:08with next year's instalment to be held
01:10at a yet-to-be-announced location.
01:12People, when they go to see places,
01:13like to know, how am I connected with this building?
01:16And what we're really lucky to have
01:17is to have people who are able to translate what they can see
01:21into what's relevant for them here and now.
01:24Celebrating an historic and fast-changing hub of the city.
01:27We'll see you next time.
01:28We'll see you next time.
01:28We'll see you next time.
01:33We'll see you next time.
