00:00And so to the final of the men's 100 metres, and we had two heats earlier on today, 18 athletes
00:06across the two heats.
00:07And I have to say, both Hannah and I thought that you could make a case for at least half
00:11of them winning the final itself.
00:14Only nine went through across those two heats, and here they are.
00:17So let's meet them in full.
00:20Ronnie Baker, who's having a fine season, only went through as a fastest loser, 32 now, but in great shape.
00:27Emmanuel Acemeh, the Commonwealth Games champion, who won in filthy conditions in 983 in Glasgow.
00:34Akane Simbineh goes in lane three for South Africa.
00:37Andre de Grasse, really impressive in his heat, finished second, the former Olympic champion.
00:43Oblique Seville looked really comfortable, the world champion, the Jamaican number one, hadn't raced for a month.
00:50Alongside Kenny Benaric, who won his heat, again, very comfortably.
00:53Both of them just shut down in the last 10 metres or so.
00:58Leila from South Africa, the second South African in this heat, also looked good in his heat.
01:06Now, one of the discoveries of the season, Kane Sola Ajayi, very much the new kid on the block.
01:12We wondered how he would respond to the disappointment of not winning the Commonwealth Games title.
01:16Well, he looked impressive in his heat.
01:18Christine Coleman has got through here as a non-automatic qualifier, the Diamond League champion.
01:24So, plenty of quality here.
01:27Lots of well-rested Americans and a couple of guys who were at the Commonwealth Games.
01:34But this is really tough to call.
01:37Seville, for me, looked the pick alongside Benaric.
01:40So, from lane one, inside to out.
01:44Ronnie Baker, USA, goes in one.
01:46Emmanuel Aceme, four.
01:48Cameron goes in two.
01:50Simbini, South Africa, three.
01:52Andre de Grasse, in four.
01:54Oblique Seville, the world champion, in five.
01:56Benaric there with the headband.
01:57Kung Fu Kenny goes in six.
02:00Leila from South Africa in seven.
02:02Ajayi, Nigeria, in eight.
02:04Christian Coleman, right of picture, goes in lane nine.
02:09Men's 100 metres final.
02:13So.
02:17Great start from Seville.
02:19Also going well is Benaric.
02:21Benaric and Seville moving away.
02:22Also going nicely is Ronnie Baker on the inside.
02:24But Seville's going to get this.
02:25Seville looking across.
02:279.83.
02:28A nice tickling tailwind of 1.4 to just gently buffer them along.
02:34But Seville and Benaric, who were the two eye-catching athletes from the semi-finals,
02:40all the heats earlier on today, have delivered.
02:43And Oblique Seville, who'd had that month off, hadn't raced competitively for it,
02:49has been training well.
02:51Seville, he's certainly not wasted his time.
02:55Comes back really strongly and fends off Benaric and Coleman, the two Americans in second and third.
03:02Benaric was trying to chase him down.
03:04But Seville, comfortable in the end.
03:07And when we see the replay, he had a cheeky look over to his right just before he crossed the
03:11line.
03:12And 9.83 to 9.87.
03:15It's not huge, but it is significant.
03:18Well, he breaks the three-way tie for the meeting record held by Kershane Thompson, Fred Curley and Ronnie Baker.
03:24But what we're seeing, I think, from these male 100-meter runners,
03:27these athletes have been on the charge the last few seasons, back-to-back-to-backs, major championships.
03:33And the first half of this season, I think we've just seen them easing in to 2026.
03:39But as we look towards the big opportunities, the Diamond League final, the World Ultimate Championships,
03:45I think we're going to see a lot of these athletes finding another 10th or so.
03:49And I think of Leek Seville, he came into his running in Lausanne last year at the Diamond League
03:53when he won in the pouring rain.
03:54And that was a first indication that he was perhaps the informed man.
03:58He converted that to the gold in Tokyo.
04:00And this feels reminiscent of that for me, for Seville.
04:03He has had a good season.
04:05He's not raced loads and loads.
04:06Let's take a win here with around about three weeks left of the season.
04:10Makes me think he's going to finish on a high.
04:12Yeah, I agree.
04:13And Seville, actually the only man to have won two Diamond Leagues this year.
04:17It was six different winners until literally just a minute ago.
04:20So Seville, in fact, meeting record, equaling run.
04:26And Benarik and Coleman coming through in second and third.
04:31Ajayi just behind them in fourth.
04:33All right.
04:34All right.
04:35Bye.
04:37Bye.
04:39Bye.
04:40Bye.
04:41Bye.
