00:00Trying to pick a little splinter.
00:02How many hours of yard work I did yesterday?
00:06Way more than I did.
00:08Dude.
00:09I did like five hours of yard work.
00:11Oh, that's devastating.
00:12In one day?
00:13I got motivated.
00:14You've achieved too much in life to do that.
00:15I was mowing the lawn, and then there are a couple of branches on these trees that are overhanging.
00:22And I need to thank not just one neighbor, but two neighbors.
00:27Because I just decided there was this one branch, which is hanging kind of low, super long, and I don't
00:35have that many tools.
00:36So I just took an...
00:37I have a small axe.
00:39I'm like, I'm just going to put an axe away.
00:41I got on a ladder, and then I'm just...
00:43Using an axe?
00:44Boom, boom, boom.
00:44Using an axe.
00:45I know nothing about yard work.
00:47I know that's the wrong tool for the job.
00:49But it's what I had.
00:50You're lucky you didn't let the thing land on your head.
00:53Oh, but I'm hitting the axe, and I should have...
00:55On a ladder.
00:55He's on a ladder with an axe.
00:57How thick was the branch?
00:59About like this.
01:00It wasn't a big axe that you would split wood with.
01:03No, no.
01:03It was a small axe.
01:04It was a hatchet.
01:05It's not an axe.
01:06Let's call it what it is.
01:07I mean, an axe is like...
01:08It was a half-ass axe.
01:09Yeah, okay.
01:10An axe has a handle that's just long.
01:12Okay, a hatchet.
01:13Whatever.
01:13Not like a battle axe.
01:15Yeah.
01:15But I'm chopping away, and I would take breaks every couple minutes, and then chop, chop, chop, chop.
01:22Oh, my God.
01:22And it was like one quarter, then halfway through it.
01:25I'm just waiting for that branch to go down.
01:26You definitely had a golfer's elbow now.
01:27And the bark is just flying everywhere, and I should have had goggles, and I should have closed my eyes.
01:33What a debacle.
01:34And a neighbor, Ben, thank you, came over, and he's like, he goes, I saw you struggling with a tree,
01:39and he brought over a hacksaw.
01:41And then we just got that one done with the hacksaw, and then once, I was like, hey, can I
01:45borrow the hacksaw?
01:46Because we have another tree.
01:47So we have a basketball hoop in the driveway, and we have a tree on the side, and it doesn't
01:54block the shot immediately, but there's definitely a branch that's about 12 feet high.
01:59Do you need a little mini chainsaw?
02:01It's a little bit.
02:01I needed a chainsaw, but I didn't have one, so then I had the hacksaw.
02:05Yeah, it was like 50 bucks or something.
02:05Well, whatever.
02:06I had the hacksaw, so now I had my neighbor's hacksaw.
02:09He was relying on his neighbor.
02:10So then I was doing this.
02:11He was like a running man down in his backyard trying to cut the tree.
02:15So then I did the hacksaw, and my neighbor on the other side, this guy, Tongue, he never does yard
02:25work.
02:25His dad lives in the house, who's probably 80.
02:29He does it all.
02:30He came out, he saw me do the hacksaw, and he's like, he goes, I think you need this one.
02:33His hacksaw was basically the exact same, and he did it for a while.
02:37And then I felt, I actually told him, I was like, I hope you don't have a heart attack.
02:42He left, and then I finally got down the tree.
02:44Oh, what an embarrassing thing.
02:46A couple cuts, a lot of bug bites, and then a stupid little splinter, which probably hurts more than anything.
02:54I mean, five hours of yard work.
02:56That is my personal apocalypse.
02:58In one day?
02:59Five hours, man.
02:59It's only five hours, because he was going at it with a water knife.
03:03No, no, no.
03:03It's inefficient.
03:04Well, yeah, and then I guess the rules of the neighborhood, what I learned is, so like
03:10one of the branches was probably 16 feet long, is that you can turn in pieces of wood, but
03:19they have to be four feet or shorter.
03:21Okay.
03:21So then I had to take the long pieces and cut them down.
03:24Oh, my God.
03:24Again, chainsaw.
03:26Should have called you boy.
03:27And then all the little branches put into those stupid Costco bags.
03:33Honestly, I had a busy weekend to come over there and save the day with my manly chainsaw.
03:36I would have been so sized.
03:38I actually would have been.
03:39Yeah, but then you would have had to drive it over to his house.
03:41You're going to do that?
03:42No chance.
03:43But no ladder accidents.
03:45I would have.
03:45Well, JP, next time, just call him.
03:47Yeah, I didn't know he had a chainsaw.
03:48Yeah, now you do.
03:49Now listen, I bragged about my chainsaw before.
03:51It's a little mini, little effeminate chainsaw.
03:53Yeah, but it'll still work.
03:54It's better than whatever he was using.
03:56It would work, 100%.
03:57The hacksaw worked.
03:58It just takes a while.
04:01I've used one before to cut a much smaller branch, and it takes forever.
04:04Trust me, I know.
04:05It's not fun.
04:06I'll never do it again.
04:08I sprayed some weeds and some crabgrass.
04:11Did you?
04:11There you go.
04:12Did you do it in five hours?
04:14Five minutes.
04:14It was pretty long.
04:16I need to do that in my house.
04:17I got a lot of crab.
04:18Yeah, crabgrass is the worst.
04:20His ears go up when he hears my crabgrass.
04:23Very excited.
04:24Eric was telling me, I didn't realize this, crabs are butt.
04:27It's not cheap right now.
04:27Really?
04:28Oh, yeah.
04:29Oh, it might be a time for a crab feast.
04:30I don't know.
04:31Somehow this hillbilly.
04:32I got to call my cousin.
04:33He's like, yeah, the waterman.
04:35He's a waterman.
04:35He showed up on my feed, and he's like, $100 a bushel.
04:40Oh, that sounds like a bargain.
04:41Hey, speaking of crabs.
04:42He said the price is from the 90s.
04:44I assume you guys, well, you probably didn't hear it.
04:46No, back in time.
04:47Because you guys were at Freedom 250, but during the Lions-Commanders game, Dan Helley,
04:52B. Mitch, and Riggo were all talking about crabs.
04:54Oh, they were.
04:55They were having a crab song?
04:56Yeah, because Helley said, well, next week we'll be in Baltimore.
04:59Okay.
05:00Baltimore.
05:01Baltimore.
05:01And he said, home of the crabs.
05:03Right.
05:03He tried to use the Baltimore dialect.
05:05Yeah.
05:05And B. Mitch said, I love crab cakes.
05:07Right.
05:07I love them.
05:09And then Helley goes, well, where do you go?
05:11And he goes, I don't really know.
05:14He goes, there's a place in Front Royal, Virginia.
05:16He couldn't remember the name of the place.
05:18People probably just hook him.
05:20He says, it's got the best crabs.
05:21He opens his door, and there are crab cakes.
05:23And Riggo was saying there's no crab cakes in Kansas.
05:28I mean, they had nothing to talk about, I guess.
05:30As they move into the later portions of the game, it becomes a talk show, because nobody
05:36cares about third and fourth.
05:37Oh, you mean after the second?
05:39Yeah.
05:39After the fourth offensive session?
05:41Believe me, this was later in the game.
05:42I know.
05:43Yeah, yeah.
05:43It was later in the game.
05:44They did that in week one, too, because it's, who are these guys?
05:47These guys are just going to get cut.
05:48Yeah, but they were having fun talking about it.
05:51Yeah.
05:51It was entertaining to me.
05:52All right.
05:53Let's get into the Junkie Sports page, Bish Bucks.
05:55All right.
05:56Sponsored by our good friends over at Open Road Distilling, Reston Town Center.
06:01Make sure you go over there and mention us.
06:03Of course, you can get their locally crafted spirits, like Eagle Eye Rye, Mabel Old Fashioned,
06:09Independence Bourbon, all at Northern Virginia ABC stores.
06:12So head on over there.
06:15I guess, well, we kind of touched on the Freedom 250.
06:18We'll just touch on it real quick again.
06:22And Kyle Kirkwood was the big, fat winner.
06:25All right.
06:25He won by about three and a half seconds over some guy named Lungard and another guy named
06:30Power.
06:31I'm sure he's silly.
06:32Lungard is from Denmark and Power is from Australia.
06:35Both of them were interviewed after the race and said, you know what?
06:39It's good that an American won here in Washington, D.C., Freedom 250.
06:43So it was pretty cool.
06:44But they were all jacked about just the experience and the setup and the race and the city.
06:49They loved it.
06:49On Sunday, the president showed up, right?
06:52Yeah, he waved the green flag.
06:54Where did he sit?
06:56Did he sit in the monumental suites?
06:58I don't know exactly where he was.
07:00No, I got JVS.
07:01The president.
07:01He had a compound across from where that setup was.
07:05I mean, we had like the primo seats legitimately right in the middle.
07:08I feel like we had the best seats in the house.
07:09Yeah.
07:10It was pretty cool.
07:12Cool to watch.
07:13Now, I can only watch it once a year.
07:16I can't do it every week.
07:18I don't remember sitting down and watching IndyCar every weekend.
07:23Yeah.
07:23I mean, it gives you a little more interest in it.
07:26But hello, the NFL is about to start.
07:29Right, right.
07:30And college football.
07:32It's a little bit like tennis in that I recorded my daughter and her friend watching.
07:38And your neck just moves nonstop.
07:41Left to right.
07:42Left to right.
07:43If one of those cars zooms by you and you follow it all the way down out of the line
07:47of sight,
07:47you can't pick up the next car because it's just coming too fast.
07:51It's coming too fast.
07:52Yeah.
07:52It's coming at 140 plus.
07:54Like your eyes can't track with it.
07:56Yeah.
07:57It's crazy.
07:58It's crazy to have those cameras.
08:00You can see the racers trying to steer it.
08:03Yeah, yeah.
08:03And it's so hard.
08:04It's so hard to steer those things.
08:06I mean, one of the guys.
08:07Tell me what you.
08:07I don't know what you're talking about.
08:09I mean, the steering wheel is going all over the place and they're just.
08:11Really?
08:12It doesn't look like power steering.
08:14They don't have power steering?
08:16I mean, I'm sure they do, but it's just very difficult to steer those vehicles.
08:19It's not stable.
08:20Which Bush is still with us?
08:22Is it Kurt or Kyle?
08:23Which Bush passed away?
08:25Don't know.
08:25All right.
08:26Well, the Bush is still alive was in with Danny along with the dude whose name was Stingray
08:31something.
08:32Yeah, yeah.
08:33Stingray Bob.
08:33Stingray Bob, whatever his name was.
08:35He said that their pulse rate is at like 155 to 160 for two straight hours.
08:40Right.
08:41Wow.
08:41It's their horse.
08:42Boom, boom, boom the whole time.
08:43They also said that.
08:44That's what it looks like when I'm putting for bogey.
08:46It's so hot in those cars and they're sweating so much they lose 10 pounds an hour.
08:54I guess that makes sense.
08:55Or maybe he said 10 pounds for the race.
08:57Seems aggressive, 10 pounds an hour.
08:59Maybe he said 5 pounds.
09:00He definitely said 5 pounds.
09:02So I don't know if it was 5 per hour.
09:03He might have to get in an IndyCar soon.
09:05He's driving the Ozepi car.
09:05But they were so hot and sweaty.
09:08Of course.
09:09It was cool to watch.
09:09The IndyCar, though, doesn't look like a regular steer wheel.
09:12It almost looks like a PlayStation joystick.
09:14Yeah, yeah.
09:15It looks like something like on a big wheel.
09:18I don't know how those guys do it.
09:20It was pretty cool to watch.
09:21All right, so NFL preseason week 2 is in the books.
09:28I mean, all these games were terrible.
09:29But the Sunday night game was Seattle and the Titans last night.
09:35I'm just curious.
09:36I know the scores don't matter.
09:37But I'm just curious what the score was.
09:391916 Tennessee.
09:41Okay.
09:42So Cam Ward played for the second consecutive week.
09:45I didn't watch it.
09:46He was 8 for 12 for 69 yards.
09:47No touchdowns.
09:48No picks.
09:49Sacked once.
09:50But I think a lot of the starters played for Tennessee, at least for a series or two.
09:54I don't think many played for Seattle.
09:56But Seattle did lose their second-round draft pick.
09:59Bud Clark, who they drafted out of TCU.
10:01He's a defensive back.
10:03Broken ankle.
10:04So he's going to be out months, they say.
10:06There's some bad injuries coming out of preseason and training camp.
10:09That was the Seattle Seahawks' second-round pick, Bud Clark.
10:13Because Gente got hurt with the Raiders.
10:16Gente got hurt.
10:16And you know what that means?
10:18They're already writing about Lowby zooming up the depth chart.
10:22Going to get some real running back touches.
10:25Good.
10:25It looks like.
10:26Good.
10:26And Mike Washington Jr., I believe.
10:28Yeah.
10:28Also there in the mix.
10:30Yeah.
10:33So, I don't know if you saw any of the highlights of the Browns game.
10:36They got pummeled by the Bills.
10:38Big story there was Deshaun Watson's terrible press conference afterwards.
10:42Well, he got booed.
10:44This is the first time he's played at home on the field since October 24th of 2024.
10:50So it's been a couple years.
10:53And he got booed by the fans.
10:55Yep.
10:56Those are my people.
10:56The fans just don't like him.
10:58They don't want him out there.
10:59And he played poorly, too.
11:00And he played bad.
11:01Well, yeah.
11:02They booed him when they, like, you saw him threw the one ball in the dirt.
11:05Did he throw an interception?
11:07Yes.
11:08I think he threw an interception.
11:09And that's when they booed him.
11:11Man, I didn't have no reaction.
11:13I think the biggest thing is, I think you guys know, too, and I think the whole world
11:20knows, it has nothing to do about the performance.
11:23It's a little bit personal than that.
11:25So, I think that's a disrespectful thing.
11:29So, yeah.
11:30I mean, I'm going to keep whatever I feel with me and my family internally on how I feel
11:34about that.
11:36And, yeah.
11:36Just move on.
11:37But don't you think, Deshaun, that winning and playing better would eliminate some of
11:44that booing?
11:46Last time I played on this field, I tore my Achilles.
11:49And that same fan base, they cheered when I got hurt.
11:54So, does that have to do with, what does that have to do with anything about performance?
12:00When a person gets hurt, especially for your own city, and they cheer.
12:06Does any of that make you regret coming here?
12:09No, I don't regret anything in my life.
12:11You know, I think the Lord put me through situations for a reason.
12:14So, I don't regret anything at all.
12:17But, you know, I had different thoughts on how it was going to be.
12:23But, you know, it is what it is.
12:25Because, you know, sometimes, you know, the tables turn, and I'm patient enough because
12:29I'm a child of God to, you know, wait for that time to change.
12:33So, I'm not tripping on it.
12:35It's annoying when you hear a guy say, I'm a child of God, and you fondled like 20 women.
12:39I would regret that.
12:40You doesn't regret anything?
12:41I would regret that part of my life.
12:42That was the money quote.
12:43That was the quote.
12:44Like, I don't regret having any regrets in life.
12:46Like, I honestly, I mean, does it make you think maybe some of this was overblown?
12:51Or maybe it was weird?
12:52I don't know.
12:53Maybe it didn't happen the way we think it happened.
12:55We don't know what happened, but 20 women accused him.
12:59And he settled with all of them.
13:00Yes.
13:02Anyway, so they don't want him there.
13:03If you're the Browns, why are you keeping him around?
13:06What is the point?
13:07That's what I asked the one guy we had from, remember the guy we had from Cleveland?
13:10I think they just wanted to get the money's worth.
13:12And I said, why would he even be on the roster?
13:14Don't play him.
13:15He's a sunken cost, Art.
13:16Like, he's not going to play.
13:18Munkin thinks he's going to be better for the team to win.
13:23To win some games.
13:25If you watch the game, listen, hold on.
13:27I want to say this.
13:28Sorry.
13:29Shador played okay.
13:30He had one interception on a batted ball.
13:32He's not a star.
13:33I mean, Shador's probably a backup, but I think Shador is okay.
13:38And the fans are not going to boo Shador.
13:40Right.
13:40No.
13:41And Munkin said he's going to announce the starter for the season.
13:45Today.
13:46So I assume that's going to be Shador.
13:49Announce him.
13:50Cut Watson.
13:51It doesn't matter.
13:51Like, you've already guaranteed him 200 million plus.
13:55He's not going to play for you.
13:57And no one's going to sign him.
13:58It's a PR disaster.
13:59But what if he's been out playing Shador throughout training camp?
14:04He hasn't in the preseason game.
14:06He played fairly better than everybody else in the roster?
14:08That's incorrect.
14:08In the first preseason game, he played fairly well.
14:10He played better than Shador in the first preseason.
14:12Okay, fair enough.
14:13But when you look at the total stats, it's basically a wash.
14:18Yeah, but they said in the joint practices, he was better.
14:22No, day-to-day.
14:23Look, I agree with Ian Rappaport.
14:25I think he put out a tweet.
14:26He was like, Deshaun Watson, by play, should be the starter.
14:29But after that press conference, just go with Shador.
14:32And his cake says, just cut your losses now.
14:34You're not going anywhere with either of them anyway.
14:37You're never going to have him live up to the contract that he signed.
14:41And he's a pariah amongst the fan base.
14:44They hate his guts.
14:45Just move on.
14:47Like, at some point, you have to move on.
14:48I would think that they should, yeah.
14:50And maybe after what happened in terms of the boos and the fan reaction,
14:54maybe they realize it's not worth it.
14:57Maybe it's just the ownership is resolute and just saying,
14:59look, we paid him 200 plus million dollars.
15:01We want him out there.
15:02He's going to stay on the roster no matter what.
15:04So, like, maybe the GM and the coach, they're neutered.
15:07They can't do anything.
15:08I would guess.
15:09So, Warren Sharpe retweeted it, and I saw it.
15:11The interview Shador did on the side.
15:13He did, like, a six-minute interview on the sideline.
15:15It was outrageous how long it was.
15:17But it shows you nothing preseason, right?
15:19They were six minutes with him.
15:22And I'm telling you, and I tweeted this, and some people, you know,
15:25they're like, I don't care how he plays on the field.
15:27I don't care if he's the worst quarterback in the history of the game.
15:29I root for him.
15:30He's so down-to-earth.
15:32He roots.
15:32He's so likable.
15:34And we have some standard against him where we hate him because of his dad
15:38or something.
15:39And meanwhile, his dad's raised a pretty freaking humble kid.
15:42Well, some of his college antics.
15:44Okay.
15:45What?
15:45Did he?
15:46He had a fancy car or something?
15:48He had the rap song.
15:49He did some of the celebrations.
15:52But he's a kid.
15:53I understand.
15:54But he had kind of like, Baker Mayfield had a lot of people who hated him in college.
15:57Yeah.
15:57I think Baker Mayfield, though, got in trouble with the law.
16:00Like, they were real things.
16:01Like, these are kind of trivial things.
16:02Well, he had a drunken public, and he ran from the cops.
16:05Right.
16:06Yeah.
16:06But anyway.
16:06Nothing too crazy.
16:07Anyways, I think he's one of the more misunderstood, more maligned guys.
16:12And I just see a sweet kid, and I root for him.
16:15I don't care if he's the worst quarterback in the history of the world.
16:18I will always root for him.
16:19I think he's pretty likable.
16:20I watched the interviews.
16:22He's super likable.
16:22So you're rooting for him to be the starter.
16:24I don't know if he's good.
16:25I think he's good enough.
16:27He makes plays.
16:28Here's this.
16:28His arm is trash.
16:30I think your arm's better.
16:31But he makes reads, and he can deliver the ball.
16:34You know, I don't think he's a star.
16:36He's probably a backup.
16:37He's definitely not a star.
16:38He actually seems pretty humble about his game.
16:41We need to bet they're under, Jason.
16:42I think the perception in college was the opposite.
16:45I think the perception was probably wrong.
16:48And they retired his number for a team that won like seven games.
16:52Again, do you think a player doesn't have control over that?
16:55You know what I mean?
16:55That's true.
16:56He has no control over that.
16:57Do you think he just all of a sudden got humble?
16:59It was all about prime time.
17:00Yeah, it was about the dad.
17:02His backlash on the dad.
17:02The dad's all over the place.
17:03Sometimes the dad is super humble, super great with the young kids, and sometimes the dad's
17:08out of control.
17:09Look, I'm rooting for him to be the week one starter, too.
17:13Me, too.
17:13Because I don't think Deshaun deserves it.
17:16Just my opinion.
17:17Coming up at seven o'clock, we'll hit the skins.
17:19Next, we will dive into the Washington Commanders' second preseason game.
17:24Are you hitting the panic alarm after watching that ugly performance?
17:27That's next here on The Junkies.
