00:00Another big game last night featured Colorado against Georgia Tech,
00:06and it came down to the wire.
00:08Colorado freshman quarterback Julian Lewis hit the tight end
00:11for a 20-yard touchdown with 42 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
00:17But Georgia Tech had a chance to get a win,
00:21but Colorado blocked the kick to seal the 14-13 win.
00:26So Deion Sanders gets a win in his opener.
00:30This is year number three for Deion Sanders of Colorado?
00:33I think so. Three or four.
00:35I'm very torn on Deion.
00:37There's a lot of parts of him that I find very annoying.
00:41I don't like the way he handles when he gets a new school
00:44and just dismisses all the players, treats them like trash,
00:47when those guys work their lives to get those scholarships
00:50and those offers and other opportunities.
00:51There's things about him I really don't like.
00:54But I like the way he parents his kids.
00:56I really appreciate that.
00:58And I like it when everyone's against him.
01:00So I'm kind of rooting for him.
01:02You're a Deion guy.
01:03And he's a former skin.
01:05It's not that I'm a Deion guy.
01:06Because there are parts of Deion that I do not like.
01:10But there are parts that I do like.
01:11Like most humans, right?
01:13Yeah.
01:13We have pluses and minuses.
01:14He's got some redeeming qualities.
01:16He's got some redeeming qualities.
01:18Especially when everyone's against him,
01:20I kind of like to see underdogs.
01:21But what a finish.
01:22So you have a touchdown pass with 42 seconds.
01:25Then Georgia Tech's quarterback, Alberto Mendoza,
01:29has a 42-yard pass to set him up for the potential game-winning field goal.
01:34But then it gets blocked.
01:35Right.
01:35It's the first time that an FBS team has ended a season opener
01:39by blocking a field goal as time expired since 2021.
01:43So it's not something that's very common.
01:45But it happened last night.
01:48Very cool.
01:48As Colorado gets the win.
01:50Of course, probably the biggest game this weekend
01:54features Lane Kiffin's debut at LSU.
01:58And the ruling came down yesterday
02:02that the guys who have come over from the NFL,
02:05they will indeed be allowed to play for LSU.
02:08And it looks like the tight end will play in the first game.
02:11The other guy, who I think is a corner,
02:15is targeting week three.
02:16I guess he needs to get in shape.
02:18I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but my understanding is we're using it loosely
02:23when we say the guys that came from the NFL, they are in pro camps.
02:26But I don't believe there's any guys that have played in games
02:29or even been on a practice squad for a full season.
02:32Have there been?
02:33Maybe there's been one or two.
02:34No, I think it's...
02:36Guys that were in camps.
02:37Yeah, in camp, got cut, released.
02:40I mean, it's not great, but the worst thing ever.
02:43I think this will be it.
02:44It doesn't faze me that much because now I just view college football
02:47as a paid professional NFL feeder system.
02:51Yeah.
02:51They're kind of intertwined now.
02:53Which we should for a few years.
02:54Basically professional football.
02:55I mean, LSU reportedly has a $40 million payroll.
02:58It's a lower level pro football league.
03:00Well, I was talking to somebody whose son goes to LSU,
03:03and he said, I forget what they call it, it's $100 million.
03:07Now they have a $100 million collective.
03:09That's what it is, that they fundraise.
03:10It's quite a war chest.
03:11That might go to basketball, might go to some of the other sports.
03:14I heard the payroll of the football team was $40 million.
03:17That might be the payroll, but the collective apparently has raised $100 million.
03:21It's unbelievable.
03:23Speaking of college football, Bill Belichick got a win in week zero or week one,
03:28whatever the heck you want to call it.
03:30But the program at North Carolina is under investigation.
03:34Michael Lombardi, who used to come on this show a lot, was the GM at North Carolina.
03:40He stepped down as they are facing some serious scrutiny.
03:45Now it looks like Bill Belichick's son, Steve Belichick, who was the defensive coordinator,
03:51he's under investigation for supposedly using drugs on the job
03:56and providing drugs to at least one player.
03:58And then separately, there's talk of the recruiting staff having a sexual relationship with the player.
04:05So there's all kinds of stuff swirling at North Carolina.
04:09They went 4-8 in his first year, but he did get a win against TCU in the first game
04:14for North Carolina this year.
04:16You didn't expect, I mean, we don't know Bill Belichick at all, but maybe you expect him to struggle on
04:23the field.
04:23You didn't expect it to be sort of a program out of control like that.
04:26You didn't expect chaos.
04:27It's a chaotic situation down there.
04:30I mean, he had the donk-tight end on his team, Aaron Hernandez.
04:37I mean, he's had head cases on the team.
04:40I think he's all about winning.
04:42So if you can help him win, I don't think he cares that much.
04:47That's probably true.
04:48Antonio Brown played for him too, right?
04:49Yeah.
04:50Live with Tom Brady?
04:51I'm not saying that, but if you look at it, it's beyond just having maybe sketchy players.
04:55You're looking at all levels.
04:57Yeah.
04:57The recruiting, the coaching staff, all levels.
05:01And I think that sort of act plays better in the pros than it does on the college level.
05:07Because I think at some point, the higher-ups, the board of regents or whatever at Chapel Hill,
05:14eventually, especially if they're not winning games, they're going to say,
05:17you're embarrassing the university.
05:19Right.
05:19No matter how big your name is, is Bill Belichick, and all the Super Bowls you've won,
05:23you're bringing unwanted attention to Chapel Hill.
05:27What ultimately will be the deciding factor in how long this experiment lasts will be the money.
05:34As long as the money keeps rolling in, it'll be fine.
05:37But if it gets to a point where the donors or whatever, they stop donating because they're embarrassed by it
05:41all,
05:41then that'll be it.
05:43That'll be the end.
05:44Money will dictate that, would be my guess.
05:47I think wins and losses, though.
05:48Well, the TCU win was a surprise.
05:52I saw one of these college football analysts before the season go through their entire schedule.
05:57I want to say they had them at 3-8.
06:01Yeah.
06:01Something terrible.
06:02Did they have them losing?
06:03But they had them losing to TCU.
06:04Right.
06:04So you never know.
06:05We'll see.
06:05So we'll see if Bill Belichick can turn it around, but doesn't have his defensive coordinator
06:12because his son's in, I don't know, treatment or something like that.
06:16He's been off, I think, all camp.
06:20Well, they've got a layup in their next game.
06:22They face East Tennessee State, so they have a directional school.
06:26But then it ramps up.
06:27They get Clemson and then Notre Dame in their next two games.
06:32Right.
06:32So probably off to a 2-0 start, but it's going to be, I would assume it's going to fall
06:38to 2-2 with the quickness.
06:39They might have a shot actually against Clemson.
06:41I don't know.
06:41Clemson doesn't seem like what they once were.
06:44Yeah.
06:44Maybe they're approaching getting closer to being that program again.
06:49I would assume at Notre Dame they'd probably be shot.
06:51This is the week of settlements.
06:54Former Fox Sports analyst and Commander's quarterback, Mark Sanchez, plans to plead guilty rather than go forward with the trial
07:03next week
07:03from his October 2025 fight with a truck driver outside an Indianapolis hotel.
07:10Well, what kind of deal did he get?
07:12Well, he agrees to plead guilty and he'll be sentenced.
07:16Right.
07:17But I'm sure they've already told him what the sentence will be.
07:18That's why he's pleading guilty.
07:20We don't know.
07:20Don't know.
07:21They don't know.
07:23That was an embarrassing video and just a wacky video.
07:27Oh, he was hammered too.
07:28Yeah.
07:28He's like just irresponsible behavior.
07:31Did he stab the truck driver?
07:33The truck driver stabbed him in self-defense.
07:34I think so, yeah.
07:35That's the way it worked out.
07:36I think there was a confrontation and the guy ended up pulling out a knife on him.
07:39He got doused with pepper spray.
07:40Right.
07:41Yeah.
07:41Yeah.
07:42Big disaster.
07:43And then he got stabbed.
07:44Yeah.
07:45He was hospitalized.
07:47Stab wounds to his torso.
07:50Face laceration.
07:52Embarrassment.
07:53Look, I'm lost his job.
07:54I'm going to assume that I'm going to go through the rest of my life without getting pepper
07:57sprayed in the face in some sort of altercation.
08:00That's a good assumption.
08:01I'm just going to assume that.
08:02I would bet on you on that.
08:03I'm just going to bet on that.
08:05Have you ever...
08:05This is a real admission.
08:08Okay.
08:09Have you ever been in a situation where you're like, and this is a real admission, where
08:16you go, I'd really like to knock that guy out.
08:20Like, I'd really like to knock that guy out.
08:22But because I'm a prudent person, I don't act on it.
08:26I just stand there and I go, and I let it slide.
08:30And I think about ramifications.
08:32That happens to me.
08:33I can't recall a situation like that.
08:36I just think about it.
08:37I'm sure it's happened at some point, but I mean, I can't recall one off the top of my
08:41head.
08:41I'd like to tackle that guy.
08:43I'd like a confrontation with that guy.
08:46But...
08:47I can't think of one either.
08:48Have you?
08:48Can you give us a circumstance?
08:50Because it sounds like you've thought about it.
08:51You don't admit it.
08:53I've never acted on any level.
08:55No one in the world would know.
08:56The only person that knows is God.
08:59God, I'd be at a volleyball tournament and some other parent acting like a maniac on
09:03the other side, three feet from me, just acting like a maniac.
09:07And I go, you know what?
09:08I'd like to knock this guy out.
09:10I really wouldn't.
09:10I ponder.
09:11I ponder.
09:12If I do that, I'll be banned from all the tournaments.
09:14It'll be a blight on the family.
09:15It'll be a curse on my daughter.
09:17Arrested.
09:17I think about all of those.
09:18You have criminal record.
09:19Yeah, yeah.
09:20But more I worry about the ramifications for others.
09:22Public embarrassment, shame.
09:24Yeah.
09:24And so you can't do that.
09:26But I think about that.
09:27I don't know.
09:28Four or five times a year, maybe.
09:30It enters my brain.
09:32No one would know.
09:33Right.
09:33Have you seen confrontations at volleyball tournaments?
09:36What do you mean?
09:37Have I seen confrontations?
09:38Yeah, of course.
09:39You have intrusive thoughts sometimes.
09:41Yeah.
09:41Yeah, of course.
09:42There's one drunk guy in Orlando.
09:46I told you about the whole thing where they were cheating, where the dad was behind our coach before every
09:52serve.
09:53Most teams, most teams, most teams, not all, they'll signal to their player where they want the serve to go.
09:59Okay, yeah.
10:00He was relaying the signals to his team.
10:02So he was behind our bench.
10:04Yeah.
10:05And then doing hand signals like a baseball, third base coach.
10:07Well, he should be thrown out immediately.
10:08Of course.
10:09Yeah.
10:09But he was, first of all, he was enormous.
10:11He was about 6'7", enormous dude.
10:15But he was hammered.
10:17And there was a confrontation.
10:18Good parent hammered at your kid's volleyball game.
10:20Oh, yeah.
10:20That guy was the worst guy ever.
10:22Yeah.
10:22But I was one of multiple parents that confronted the guy.
10:25And it was possible that something could have happened, but he did back down.
10:28Could have gone down.
10:28Thank God he backed down.
10:29Could have been some swinging.
10:30Could have been ugly.
10:32That was quite a few years ago, though.
10:35Travis Kelsey was ridiculed for his body when he showed up to camp this year.
10:41He addressed the body shaming comments as people were saying that he gained a dad bod after his wedding.
10:49He said, that S was so effing funny, reading some of these comments on the clip going viral.
10:55And obviously, the fat shaming, saying that I got a dad bodied.
10:58It's all social media just having fun.
10:59And I laugh at that S.
11:01It's pure comedy.
11:02But he says he's in good shape, ready for this season.
11:05What's your vibe on the Chiefs this season?
11:08I mean, I have question marks about Mahomes coming back from the injury.
11:12I like them adding Kenneth Walker at running back.
11:14They seem to have had a hole at running back for years.
11:17And I think he fills that void.
11:20But I don't hear a lot of great buzz on them.
11:22I don't love Rasheed Rice, you know, rehabbing his knee while he was in prison.
11:27I don't love that.
11:27Do the Chiefs need weapons?
11:30I mean, Xavier Worthy, they drafted high.
11:32That guy's always banged up.
11:33He's tiny.
11:34I mean, I don't love them.
11:36But if Mahomes is back and he's 100%, it's hard to count them out.
11:40I don't love them.
11:41That's the thing, like, Kelsey's been down a tick kind of the last couple years, right?
11:47People kind of assume that will continue.
11:48Maybe he'll prove everybody wrong.
11:50And he's getting up there in years, too, man.
11:52Well, that's why.
11:53He's, you know, all the times catching him.
11:55And Mahomes has even been down a tick.
11:56So now you throw the comeback from the ACL.
11:59You know, I assume he'll be at like 90 plus percent of what he could be, you know, to start
12:05the season.
12:05But I don't know.
12:06Is he actually starting to slip a little bit?
12:09Is age getting to him a little bit?
12:11I don't know.
12:11I don't think so on age.
12:14Yeah.
12:15NFL prime for him.
12:16NFL prime for a quarterback.
12:18Yeah.
12:19But why?
12:19Explain why the perceived dip.
12:23Well, the offense just hasn't been scoring like it did.
12:25Right.
12:25It's been a less prolific offense.
12:27But I think it's more to what Cakes is saying about the weapons and some of the guys they drafted
12:31not working out.
12:32Hey, Von Miller was here last year.
12:33Now he's with the Dallas Cowboys.
12:35Anyways, he had to negotiate to get his number 40.
12:41Oh, what did he give up?
12:42And apparently he struck a deal with Hunter Lupke, who is the fullback for the Dallas Cowboys.
12:49And he said in his tweet, I don't want to get into the details of it, but I'm happy to
12:54say he's my business partner.
12:56He's part owner of Greener Pastures.
12:59He gave him equity in the company.
13:00By the way, I'm still waiting on our big box of chicken from Von Miller.
13:03I'm still waiting on that.
13:04I think it's over, Cakes.
13:05And I'm waiting on a big box of wines from C.J. McCollum.
13:09Good luck.
13:10He was only here for 10 minutes as a wizard.
13:13I'm waiting on those things.
13:14Right.
13:15Chicken and wine.
13:16Speaking of the Cowboys, there is continued scuttle that they might go after Max Crosby in a trade.
13:24And they made three moves yesterday, restructuring three veteran contracts, freeing up $19 million in cap space, pushing their total
13:35available space past the $30 million threshold.
13:39So speculation continues that they might be in the Max Crosby sweepstakes.
13:43I think it was roughly a month ago.
13:44It wasn't Jerry Jones on record basically saying, I'm ready to make a big move.
13:50You have to.
13:50I'll make that big move.
13:51I'm 82, right?
13:52He made some reference to it.
13:54So if they swung for the fences and acquired Max Crosby, I wouldn't be surprised by that at all.
14:00Speaking of the Cowboys' former Cowboy great running back pro football Hall of Famer, Emmett Smith, has been hit with
14:08a $2.5 million lawsuit this week.
14:11Ouch.
14:11That would hurt.
14:12Filed by a Native American investing company in a Delaware court.
14:15Bart Smith and one of his business partners are both being accused of cheating the company out of millions after
14:20obtaining a loan that was supposed to be for a solar farm project in Texas.
14:25Yeah.
14:26Doesn't sound great.
14:27Hopefully it wasn't like a scam.
14:30They're alleging that it was, I suppose.
14:31Yeah.
14:32The headline is, it was, quote, like a Ponzi scheme.
14:37You never want to have Ponzi attached to your business plan.
14:43Right.
14:44It's not great.
14:45Last but not least, EB's guy, Bryson DeChambeau, reportedly has made a decision over his live golf future.
14:53He says he's coming back in 2027 despite kind of the uncertain status of live golf.
15:00I've always been pro-live.
15:02I mean, I love the PGA Tour, too, but I'm okay with live.
15:06I don't like the PGA Tour's sort of arrogance and acting like there's some, I don't know, it's annoying to
15:11me.
15:11I like both.
15:12I watch the PGA Tour more, but yeah, good.
15:15Good on Bryson, sticking to his guns.
15:18The purse is going to be dramatically smaller.
15:21The fields are going to be dramatically worse.
15:24But to be honest, most people weren't paying that much attention to it, and I don't think it's going to
15:28change much.
15:29Reports have suggested that Bubba Watson and David Puig will not be part of the new project.
15:35John Rahm, his name is floated as a guy who's uncertain.
15:41Yeah, he doesn't know.
15:41Well, they owe him a bunch of dough, right?
15:43So he got, I mean, some people are saying, if all these could correct me if I'm wrong, he could
15:48have gotten in the $200, $300, $400 million range promised to him, but he didn't get all that up front.
15:52So they still owe him some money.
15:54So what they're trying to do is give guys, reportedly, equity in the company going forward as a way to,
15:59you know, get what.
16:01They're doing a Von Miller deal.
16:02I might want the money instead of the equity because I don't know the long-term viability of that company.
16:07Well, they do want the money, but there's no money because they lost their guys, right?
16:10So it's either take the equity or we're going to file for bankruptcy, guys.
16:14If you guys don't stick with us, we're going to file for bankruptcy.
16:16It's over, right?
16:17It's brutal.
16:18So they kind of got you by the, I mean, it's an opportunity to get some of that back.
16:21Or if you're John Rahm, you go, you know what?
16:23I probably already made $300, $400 million on and off the golf course.
16:27Let me just go back to the PGI Tour.
16:28I'll pay him $50 million.
16:29I'll do the dumb little thing.
16:31It affects his life, not at all.
16:33It affects his life, not at all.
16:34I'll just go back to the tour and be done with it.
16:36But is he welcomed back to the tour?
16:37Is he one of the guys?
16:38He would have to do like a Koepka-like thing.
16:40He'd pay a fine.
16:41They would do some weird bit where he wouldn't get points for FedEx or whatever.
16:46He'd have to earn his way in.
16:47But he's so great, he would earn his way back.
16:50It would be fine.
16:50Is he liked?
16:52Yeah.
16:53John Rahm's liked?
16:54Yeah.
16:54Guys like him.
16:55Yeah.
16:55Sure.
16:56I know some of the people, it seems like, in the PGA Tour are Rick at some of the live
17:01golfers.
17:01Well, they don't like Bryson.
17:02People don't like Bryson.
17:03He's so divisive.
17:04Gotcha.
17:04Bryson's super divisive.
17:06I don't know.
17:07I mean, you just go, oh, Rahm's fine.
17:09You don't know Rahm's fine.
17:10What do you mean?
17:11I mean, if you're promised $250 million from Liv.
17:14Oh, I'm sure he's bitter about that.
17:16And you're like, well, you're just going, oh, he's fine.
17:18No, I just say he's fine financially.
17:20He might not be.
17:22Okay.
17:23I'd be willing to bet that he is, but okay.
17:25You might be right.
17:26I'd be willing to bet that he is.
17:27If you're given, if you're told your salary is going to be X, then all of a sudden the company
17:33just falls under, goes bankrupt, and you've been living as if your salary is going to be X, and it's
17:39expected from your employer.
17:41I don't think he was living like he was making $100 million a year.
17:45I think he was living like most golfers.
17:47It's hard to imagine him blowing the amount of money he's made.
17:51He's made so much already, Matt.
17:52You are technically right.
17:54He could be outspending his income, but his income has been so outrageously high.
17:59Well, it's not outspending.
18:01It's that basically you're told you're getting X amount of money, and then all of a sudden, oh, I have
18:08X amount of money.
18:08I can do these different projects.
18:10I can afford to invest in this.
18:12I can do that.
18:13Then all of a sudden the rug was pulled underneath you.
18:16It's a possibility.
18:17Maybe he's spread too thin.
18:19That's possible.
18:191-800-636-106-7 is the number.
18:23We'll hit the skins.
18:24Give the latest on the commanders at 7.
18:26But next, what's it like being a Clippers fan?
