Create attendance template in Google sheet.

To create an attendance template in Google Sheets, start by opening a new sheet and setting up columns for names, dates, and attendance status. To create an attendance tracker in Google Sheets, list student or employee names in one column and the dates in the top row, then mark attendance by filling in the corresponding cells. Although Google doesn't have a built-in attendance tracker, you can easily create one using Google Sheets. To automate attendance in Google Sheets, you can use Google Forms to collect attendance data and then link the form responses to your sheet. Creating a tracking sheet in Google Sheets involves organizing your data with clear headings and using functions or conditional formatting to highlight important information.

Here the steps outlining my video.

Add Checkboxes
1) Select the area to add checkboxes
2) Insert ~ Checkbox

Total Attendance
=SPARKLINE(COUNTIF(C8:C28,TRUE),{"charttype","column";"ymin",1;"ymax",10;"color","blue"})

In a nutshell, this formula creates a in-cell blue column chart that visually represents the number of TRUE values found in the range C8 to C28, with the y-axis scaled from 1 to 10.

Student Attendance
=SPARKLINE(COUNTIF(C8:G8,TRUE),{"charttype","bar";"max",5;"color","orange"})

In summary this formula creates an orange in-cell bar chart within a cell that visually represents the number of TRUE values in the range C8 to G8, with the bar's length scaled to a maximum value of 5.

00:00All right, let's create this kind of infographic-ish attendance tracker template where we have an
00:07in-cell chart for student and total attendance. Let's get started by introducing a checkbox here.
00:14You're going to select the area where you want to insert the checkbox to, and then go insert
00:19and select checkbox. Now to calculate the total attendance, let's select the cell at
00:24C2. After that, enter the following formula, equal sparkline. And inside the sparkline,
00:32we're going to encapsulate a count if you count the number of checks you have on this particular
00:39column here. Now we are doing attendance, that's why we're going to say true. If you want to track
00:45total absence, you can basically change the true to false. And then the second argument on a sparkline
00:52is basically the characteristic of the of your column chart or a bar chart for lack of better
00:58words. So basically, you're going to say chart type. It's going to be column.
01:07And then put semicolon. Once you define that this is a column, semicolon here, and alternate enter,
01:14a couple of spaces here. And now we're going to define the Y min value, which means the minimum value
01:20that you can have. Basically, we're going to say minimum value of one. And then after that,
01:27the second parameter for the chart will be the maximum value. And that's going to be,
01:34I'm going to choose 10. And then basically, what I'd like to do is to assign a color to it
01:40as well.
01:42So I'm going to assign this color to be, say, blue.
01:47Like this, curly braces, close parentheses, and give a bit of a space here. And what I'm going to do
01:54is
01:54I'm going to copy this in a clipboard for now. And hit enter. Now, this cell has that particular
02:00sparkline formula. Now, all you have to do is apply the same formula right across all the columns like
02:05this. And you will have all the formula. Now to do the student attendance, I copied on a clipboard.
02:12I'm basically going to paste the same formula from my clipboard here. And now for the count if,
02:19I'm going to count the number of present. But since it's being a student, we're going to do
02:25we're going to do the C8 to G8, like this. And we're looking for true because we're looking for
02:32present. And then the chart type, we're not going to use column here. This is going to have to be
02:38a bar
02:38type. And maximum, you don't have to define minimum. The maximum value that you can have is, say,
02:46five days. I'm just going to say five here like that. And then the color just to make it a
02:52bit more
02:52pretty. I'm just going to say orange. Same as the cell colors of the student attendance here. And hit
02:59enter. And apply the same formula for every row like this. And now let's do a bit of test here.
03:06You can
03:06see that every time you place a check next to it, you can see that the bar charts or the
03:12column chart
03:13increases accordingly.
