00:00DAP chairman Gobind Singh Dio has called on police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission
00:05to update the public on investigations into the alleged corporate mafia.
00:10Gobind noted that the cabinet had ordered a thorough probe in March and argued that
00:14sufficient time had passed for investigators to examine the allegations.
00:19He also asked whether key figures such as businessman Victor Chin had been called in
00:24to assist with investigations. Chin had denied involvement in the alleged corporate mafia,
00:29maintaining that he was instead a victim of tactics used to pressure businesses into takeovers.
00:35Gobind urged Inspector General of Police Khaled Ismail and MACC Chief Commissioner Abdul Halim Aman
00:40to explain the next steps and when the investigations might conclude.
00:44He warned that the allegations carried international implications and could affect market confidence,
00:50making a swift investigation important. A Bloomberg report earlier this year alleged that MACC officers
00:56were involved in intimidation tactics to pressure business executives into selling shares,
01:01a claim then-Chief Commissioner Azambaki rejected.
