00:00Tire or sweetie? Darling? Sweetie pie? You're tired? Why are you so tired?
00:08Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're shining a light on some of the most underrated moments
00:13from the iconic second season of RuPaul's Drag Race.
00:16Who's the hottest guy? I don't know.
00:20Well, I like you. I think you're the hottest guy.
00:24Number 10. The Older Gays Discuss in Untucked
00:28The makeover challenge gave us one of the most unexpectedly wholesome untucked moments in franchise history.
00:34After the queens transformed older gay men into their drag mothers,
00:38the contestants briefly left the room, allowing the makeover partners to chat amongst themselves.
00:42Duct taped from here to here.
00:47She said, you gotta go. I said, yeah, I came back and she went around me, around me, around me.
00:52And she says, I have to go now. I says, no, she says, last chance.
00:56The men hilariously complained about the physical toll of drag while also clearly loving every second of the experience.
01:02One proudly compared himself to Debbie Reynolds, only for another to instantly shut that fantasy down.
01:08I think Debbie Reynolds and I should do a movie together.
01:11We look alike. She could be my daughter.
01:14I mean, I love you, but you do not look like Debbie Reynolds.
01:18Their chemistry felt incredibly natural and genuine, almost like a glimpse into queer elders finally getting to play.
01:24Considering how chaotic season two usually was, it's understandable how the sweet little breather got overshadowed.
01:31You know, I think this is a good time in my life for this, really.
01:34They planted a seed, and what's gonna happen?
01:37Well, I'm gonna make a career of this, honey.
01:40I can sit in a chair like this, surround myself with gorgeous guys, and do a show.
01:45Number 9. The Jujubee vs. Tatiana lip-sync
01:48Everyone remembers Jujubee's show-stopping lip-sync against Sahara Davenport to Black Velvet, and for good reason.
02:04While that was Jujubee's first time in the bottom two, she would find herself in that position twice more,
02:09each time managing to send home her opponent.
02:12Her final bottom two lip-sync against Tatiana to Aretha Franklin's Something He Can Feel
02:17was a masterclass in control and stage command.
02:31Jujubee owned every single second of that song.
02:34At one point, Tatiana literally had to pause her own performance just to appreciate what Jujubee was doing.
02:47She may not have made it to the top two, but Jujubee was the undisputed lip-sync assassin of the
02:53season.
02:54Number 8. Pandora Box in the Reading Challenge
02:57The very first reading challenge in Drag Race Herstory is remembered almost entirely for Jujubee,
03:03whose reeds were sharp enough to draw blood.
03:06Pandora.
03:07Can we talk about sun tanning?
03:10And you!
03:11Legendary you think you are.
03:13Legendary looks like leg and dairy.
03:16Oh!
03:17Lost in all that chaos, however, is how strong Pandora Box actually was.
03:22Pandora delivered sharp, clever digs that perfectly matched her quirky comedy style.
03:26Tara Sanchez, if you are America's sweetheart, America needs a heart transplant.
03:34Her jab about Tyra Sanchez supposedly being a sweetheart landed perfectly,
03:38and she roasted Tatiana for being less than intellectually gifted without sounding overly mean.
03:44Tatiana, all I hear when I put my ear up to yours is the ocean.
03:49That pretty much summed up Pandora's entire season 2 journey.
03:53She consistently performed well, but kept getting overshadowed by someone just slightly better.
03:57Looking back now, her understated wit feels very ahead of its time for Drag Race comedy.
04:03Raven, the frosty bitch. I think I see penguins circling that pole.
04:08Number 7.
04:09Raven Carries Her Makeover Partner
04:11In season 2, Raven was many things, but nurturing was usually not one of them.
04:16That is exactly why this makeover challenge moment stands out so much.
04:20She's totally freaked out about walking. I just was very nervous that she was going to fall.
04:26I mean, she doesn't walk in heels, but she's sparkling. She's loving it.
04:31During the final runway performance with the older makeover partners,
04:34Raven noticed her drag mother was visibly exhausted while dancing on the stage.
04:39Without hesitation, she scooped her up and carried her off stage herself.
04:42The judges immediately erupted with applause.
04:45I can tell she's getting tired, and I can sense, like, she's not going to make it back.
04:49So as the music ends, I grab her and take her to the back.
04:56Because, I mean, I would do that for my mom.
04:59For one brief moment, the icy queen of confessionals completely dropped the armor.
05:04Considering Raven spent most of the season throwing shade at nearly everybody in sight,
05:08seeing the softer and more compassionate side of her was genuinely surprising.
05:12It also humanized her in a really refreshing way.
05:15Thank you for this experience and for allowing me to work with Stephen.
05:20I respect Stephen so much because he did a lot as far as the gay rights liberation.
05:27I thank you.
05:30Number 6. The Baby Picture Mini Challenge
05:33Early Drag Race Mini Challenges were truly built different.
05:36In this bizarre example, the queens had to match each contestant from the season
05:41with their childhood photographs.
05:42I see a little tiny baby and a big ol' Mystique face on it,
05:47just looking up like, how you doing?
05:49Done.
05:50Some queens, like Jessica Wilde, were nearly impossible to identify,
05:55while Sahara somehow looked exactly like Sahara even as a child.
05:59Then there was Mystique's infamous picture,
06:01which featured her adult head awkwardly photoshopped onto a baby's body
06:04because, as Rue later explained, her actual baby photos were lost in a fire.
06:09And this, of course, is baby Mystique.
06:12Now, I have to explain this.
06:14Mystique lost all of her family photos in a fire.
06:18Tatiana ultimately won by matching all 12 queens correctly the fastest,
06:22proving once again that she was much smarter than the other girls often gave her credit for.
06:27There was definitely an urgency with me wanting to win this mini-challenge,
06:30just because I had such a rough night having a lip-sync for my life.
06:34Number 5.
06:35Kylie Sonique Love's revelation at the reunion.
06:38I felt like the whole time I was here, I was in a dream.
06:41Was it a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare for you?
06:45My mind was always somewhere else.
06:48Like, where else? What are you talking about?
06:50I don't really feel that people got a chance to get to know who Sonique is.
06:55Long before trans contestants became more openly discussed on Drag Race,
06:59Kylie Sonique Love quietly made history during the Season 2 reunion.
07:03While reflecting on her struggles during filming,
07:05Kylie became emotional and stepped away from the group.
07:08RuPaul and Morgan McMichaels followed her backstage,
07:11where Kylie revealed that she identified as trans.
07:14I just had to be honest with myself, and I...
07:19I'm a woman.
07:21I'm not a boy who dresses up.
07:25I feel like the only thing I've ever done right was go to a doctor and start transitioning.
07:32The moment was incredibly raw and vulnerable,
07:35especially for reality television in 2010.
07:38RuPaul then guided her back to the group,
07:40where Kylie spoke openly about the emotional weight of living a life
07:43that didn't feel authentic to who she truly was.
07:46I always knew that there wasn't something right.
07:49I couldn't ever be boy enough.
07:51I've always been a girl.
07:53I've always been a girl trapped in a boy's body.
07:56I started doing drag, and there's just something about it that wasn't enough.
08:02Because Kylie later returned triumphantly on All-Star 6,
08:05people sometimes forget how groundbreaking and emotional this original moment really was at the time.
08:11For you to make this realization, to be happy performing,
08:14but also to clarify, not only for all of us, but for yourself.
08:20I applaud you, and I think it's so courageous, and you have our support.
08:25Number four.
08:26RuPaul finds Tyra asleep in the workroom.
08:29Do you feel as though you've been an effective leader for your team?
08:34Most definitely.
08:35I think the end result will show that as well.
08:37So you're okay that one of your team members is over there sleeping?
08:42Are you worried?
08:43During the burlesque challenge episode,
08:46while everyone else was deep in the trenches of creating their looks,
08:49Tyra Sanchez found a comfortable spot on the workroom couch and drifted to sleep.
08:53RuPaul discovered her, and rather than launching into a lecture,
08:56she practically tiptoed over like a parent checking on a child
08:59and softly whispered Tyra's name to wake her up.
09:02Tyra, sweetie.
09:04Darling.
09:06Sweetie pie.
09:08You're tired.
09:09Why are you so tired?
09:11I don't know.
09:12Tyra explained simply that she was already finished her garments and was tired,
09:16to which RuPaul just told her to carry on sleeping.
09:19You know, you will be judged on not only your individual,
09:22but how well you work with the group.
09:24I'm good.
09:25I'm perfectly fine.
09:26I don't have any doubt.
09:27All right.
09:28Get back to bed.
09:30Tyra's team went on to win the challenge,
09:32so the nap clearly did its job.
09:34But with the way queens these days get lambasted for even breathing incorrectly,
09:38it's hilarious to see such an action draw zero consequences.
09:42I want you to make sure to bring your charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent.
09:48Bye, y'all.
09:49See ya.
09:52Number three.
09:54Nicole Paige Brooks hits on Raven.
09:56Walking into season two,
09:58it seems Miss NPBFAG was looking for some good T-R-A-D-E.
10:02The closest she could find to that was apparently Raven.
10:05Who's the hottest guy?
10:08I don't know.
10:09Well, I like you.
10:11I think you're the hottest guy.
10:12I see.
10:15Raven.
10:16Little black hair.
10:17Tall boy.
10:18Tall girl.
10:19She's very pretty.
10:19While chatting about which queens looked hottest out of drag,
10:22Nicole openly admitted that Raven was the one catching her attention.
10:26Unfortunately for Nicole,
10:27Raven did not exactly seem flattered.
10:29She made it very clear in her confessional
10:32that she did not share the same enthusiasm.
10:34Not really impressed with her too much.
10:37She has acrylic toenails with white French tips.
10:43The timing makes this moment even funnier in retrospect
10:46because the very next episode featured the two lip-syncing against each other,
10:50with Raven ultimately sending Nicole home.
10:52We can only imagine what would have become of this unrequited love
10:55had Nicole lasted much longer.
10:57She was hitting on me.
10:58She was hitting on you?
10:59She was hitting on you?
11:00Yes.
11:01When we were practicing for our number?
11:03Oh.
11:04Our group thing?
11:06This part right here,
11:06we're going to do a little lesbian kayak kayak ship.
11:09She was the first one to go,
11:10me and Raven.
11:11I was like, uh-uh.
11:13Number two.
11:14Mystique Summers defends her outfit choice.
11:16I don't want to make people where I live
11:19think I'm making fun of them
11:21if I would have worn the costume I had on yesterday.
11:24Like the type of mammy type of outfit.
11:26I don't want to disrespect anybody.
11:28Mystique's country realness meltdown remains one of the most unintentionally funny untucked segments ever.
11:34After the judges criticized her outfit for looking too ordinary and off the rack,
11:38Mystique passionately defended herself backstage
11:40by insisting that real country people dressed exactly like that.
11:44I would just bring in another type of country.
11:46And country is not all about always denim and not western.
11:50Because this is western to me.
11:53This is completely western.
11:55She argued that she didn't want to lean into stereotypes
11:58and offend anybody she knew back home.
12:00The other queens clearly were not buying the explanation.
12:04Especially when Mystique randomly claimed she didn't eat fried foods.
12:07French fries from that place that we had the other day,
12:10I have to have it a special way.
12:11I just can't.
12:12I can't handle fried food.
12:16I don't want to come on and say,
12:17well, I can't have that, can't have that,
12:19because it will hinder everybody else.
12:20After breaking down in tears and asking producers to stop filming her,
12:24Mystique later rejoined the girls in the other room.
12:27But they kept piling on,
12:28which led to her erupting out of frustration.
12:31I could have worn my outfit that I had in my video.
12:34But with me, that would be making fun of my fans
12:37and the people that built me up in the four years of my life.
12:42And those are the backbones of me.
12:45And I don't want to do anything to hurt them.
12:48Number 1.
12:49Raven's Mirror Message
12:50Drag race finales have gotten much more elaborate now.
12:54But back in season 2,
12:55even the runner-up still had to leave behind a lipstick mirror message after losing.
12:59If any little drag queens,
13:01if any little drag princesses out there are going through s***,
13:05just keep on doing it.
13:06And buy yourself some better heels.
13:08Jujube chose heartfelt inspiration.
13:11Raven, meanwhile, chose violence.
13:13After Tyra Sanchez was crowned,
13:15Raven barely acknowledged her before leaving the workroom.
13:18I could tell that Raven's a little upset.
13:20I don't know if I sensed a little shade in the workroom.
13:24I was talking to her and she wouldn't answer me.
13:27And that makeup stained my eyes.
13:33And I'm like, okay, I guess, whatever.
13:35Then Tyra discovered the now infamous message,
13:38quote,
13:41Fans immediately interpreted it as a shady jab toward Tyra.
13:45But there wasn't exactly much subtlety involved.
14:02The bitterness of that moment has become fascinating in hindsight,
14:06especially because Raven arguably built the most successful career of anyone from that season.
14:11She eventually became RuPaul's longtime makeup artist,
14:14and even won an Emmy in 2020.
14:17Give a big round of applause for Emmy award-winning makeup artist, Raven.
14:24And don't let the foundation hit you on the way out, babe.
14:28Did we miss a season two moment that still lives rent-free in your head?
