03:23Just as Jesse can't stop the growth of technology, separating Bonnie from her tablet seems futile.
03:29Although it would have been easy for the film to demonize tech with no gray areas,
03:34Jesse eventually comes to see that it's not so black and white.

04:14Number seven, Jesse and Spanish Buzz, Toy Story 3.
04:19After Buzz is switched back to his factory settings, Jesse fears that she's lost him.
04:24She gets him back, kind of, when Buzz is reset to Spanish mode.

04:39Although this is a different Buzz, it's still love at first sight when he lays eyes on a certain redheaded
04:45cowgirl.

04:56Jesse, meanwhile, is a little freaked out at first, but it's only a matter of time until Spanish Buzz woos

05:02Just because they're in the middle of a prison escape doesn't mean there isn't time to tango in the moonlight.
05:07While it's a relief when the old Buzz is finally revived, there's still a little of his telenovela persona in

05:13This delights Jesse, who takes the lead in their next dance.

05:32Number six, Meeting Woody, Toy Story 2.
05:36Stolen from a garage sale, Woody learns that he's part of a much larger toy line.
05:40Woody technically meets Bullseye before anyone else, although Jesse is the first to formally introduce herself.

07:13As Lilypad becomes Bonnie's new security blanket,

07:37Noticing that Blaze plays a lot like Bonnie, Jesse knows that they would hit it off.
07:42The challenge is finding a way to bring them together.
07:45In an ironic turn of events, Jesse uses tech to start a dialogue between the two girls.
08:04Jesse even brings Lilypad into the fold, with both ultimately wanting what's best for Bonnie.
08:09Blaze is precisely who Bonnie needs, someone who encourages Bonnie's wild imagination, bringing her out of her shell.
08:17Toys and tech provide the bride, as Bonnie and Blaze find a friend in each other.

08:28Number 4. Becoming Sheriff.

08:31If there's a valid criticism of Toy Story 4, it's that the film could have used more of Jesse and
08:37several other characters who get sidelined.
08:39That said, this sequel sticks the landing as Woody bids farewell to the toys who have become his family.
08:45Bonnie, we'll be okay.
08:53You sure?
08:55Hey, listen to your inner voice.
09:00Woody is ready to start a new chapter, and he isn't the only one.
09:04Bonnie had already promoted Jesse to Sheriff.
09:07Woody makes it official though, when he passes on his star to Jesse.
09:22It's a huge moment for both characters, as Woody accepts that his purpose is no longer in Bonnie's room.
09:28Woody knows that he's leaving Bonnie in the best hands, entrusting Jesse with his badge and everything it represents.
09:35It's the exact moment we started crying.
09:37Guys, listen. Bonnie had a great day in first grade. She even made a new friend in class.
09:43Number 3. Accepting Buzz's Proposal.
09:46Toy Story 5.
09:48Toy Story 5 opens with Jesse officiating a wedding between Forky and Karen Beverly, giving Buzz marriage fever.
09:55Buzz spends most of the film summoning the confidence to ask Jesse for her hand.
10:00Lifted by his drone-savvy counterparts, Buzz tries to get the words out as oncoming traffic heads towards them.

10:50That's only the second biggest twist, as Trixie crashes the wedding, and a soap opera slapfest ensues.

11:14Number 2. When She Loved Me, Toy Story 2.
11:17When Toy Story 2 was upgraded from direct-to-video to a theatrical release,
11:22the filmmakers knew they needed to up the emotional stakes.
11:25Thus, they replaced a character named Senorita Cactus with Jesse,
11:29drastically changing the story's course.
11:31Although she's generally an upbeat cowgirl, Jesse harbors a tear-jerking backstory.
11:36And when Andy plays with you, it's like,
11:39even though you're not moving, you feel like you're alive.
11:44Because that's how he sees you.
11:47How did you know that?
11:49Because Emily was just the same.
11:52She was my whole world.
11:55Jesse was to Emily what Woody is to Andy.
11:58Emily inevitably grew up, with Jesse being forgotten and abandoned.
12:03While Pixar considered executing the scene with dialogue,

12:09enlisting Randy Newman and Sarah McLachlan for a song about the fading bond between a toy and her owner.

12:38realizing that one day, Andy will also move on from him.

13:09At first, Pixar considered having Jesse reunite with an elderly Emily.
13:13While this idea was scrapped, it provided a stepping stone to the film's heartfelt payoff.
13:19Left behind, again, Jesse is more convinced than ever that she's an insignificant piece of plastic.
13:24I can't do this again. I can't love another kid just to find out I never mattered.

13:39That is, until she finds an old box of mementos that Emily left under her old tree.
13:44Among them is a photo of an adult Emily and her daughter, whom she named Jesse.
13:51Emily named her daughter after me.
14:03Emily might have given her cowgirl doll away, but that doesn't mean she didn't matter.
14:08Even when separated, Jesse had an important impact on Emily.
14:12Jesse sees she can't give up on Bonnie or herself.
14:16Bonnie's growing up.
14:19And we don't get to decide when and how that happens.
14:26All that matters is we were there at the right time to help her along.
