00:00This is my presentation, Simone. Every time Simone hits the runway.
00:03Ha! She does do that!
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most notable moments
00:10when queens channeled another drag queen and delivered impressions that ranged from
00:15eerily accurate to gloriously catastrophic.
00:18Smokin' Susie, makin' all the fellas toot!
00:25Number 10. Angeria Paris Van Michaels as Tammy Brown.
00:28Sometimes the funniest performances are not the most polished ones.
00:32Now, Tammy Brown, how's it feel to be back here at Drag Race?
00:36Oh, it feels wonderful. I almost won this thing, you know.
00:39Actually, you didn't.
00:41During Season 14's infamous Snatch Game, Angeria Paris Van Michaels chose to portray the legendary,
00:47wonderfully chaotic Tammy Brown. And honey, it did not go well.
00:52Angeria seemed to struggle to pin down exactly what made Tammy so unique,
00:55which, to be fair, is nearly impossible because Tammy is one of a kind.
00:59I know that, uh, that Tina Turner's a big influence on you, isn't it?
01:03Oh, yeah. I'm a big influence on her. Oh, yeah.
01:07I have no idea what you said. That's not a match, unfortunately.
01:10The impression was scattered, awkward, and frankly, all over the place.
01:15But watching Angeria commit fully to something so spectacularly off the mark
01:19was its own kind of comedy gold. She made RuPaul lose it multiple times.
01:24Not exactly because it was hilarious, but because she couldn't understand
01:27even one word that came out of her mouth.
01:29Now, I don't think he will shake your children, but he might walk them in nature.
01:33Am I right, Tammy Brown?
01:34Oh, yeah, because I saw him walking her children in nature.
01:39What is that?
01:41Number 9. Jessica Wilde as RuPaul
01:43I'm gonna be the supermother of the world. RuPaul.
01:49RuPaul.
01:51You little thief. Eve Harrington.
01:55Trying to steal my show, are you?
01:57Before anyone else dared step into Ru's enormous heels on Snatch Game,
02:02Jessica Wilde went there first.
02:04During the very first Snatch Game ever aired on Drag Race,
02:07Jessica portrayed RuPaul herself,
02:09making her the trailblazer of what would become a recurring,
02:12often treacherous game within the game.
02:14And honestly, she pulled it off reasonably well.
02:17RuPaul's sleep down there? Is she okay?
02:19Do we... Seriously, is she okay?
02:21Oh, she's okay.
02:22The time has come now for you to lift in for your life.
02:26Jessica seemed to channel Ru from the early days of her career,
02:29rather than the more polished persona she developed after hitting it big.
02:32Compare this to Trixie Mattel's atrocious attempt on All-Stars 3,
02:36and Jessica's effort looks even more impressive in retrospect.
02:39Thank you so much, my dear.
02:41As we say in the industry,
02:43winner, winner, chicken dinner.
02:48First, and arguably one of the best.
02:51Not bad, Jessica.
02:52Not bad at all.
02:53Number 8.
02:53Simone and Utica Queen as each other.
02:56Season 13's makeover episode gave us something genuinely special.
03:00Simone and Utica Queen were paired together
03:02and asked to transform each other in their own image.
03:05And the results were jaw-dropping in the best possible way.
03:08This garment is very Utica Queen, darling.
03:11I am feeling the Utica energy.
03:14I am using my legs, my arms to really move in this garment.
03:18Both queens took the challenge to the next level,
03:21as they fully embodied each other's personality on the runway.
03:24Simone's take on Utica's quirky, off-kilter energy was spot on,
03:28while Utica's channeling of her partner's fierce, effortless glamour
03:31was surprisingly convincing.
03:32Strutting down the runway with a purpose,
03:35not letting anybody tell me what's what.
03:37I feel like I made a really crazy transformation.
03:41RuPaul recognized just how exceptional both performances were,
03:45awarding them a shared win for the challenge.
03:47It was an impressive turnaround for Utica especially,
03:50who had just bombed her impression of Bob Ross in the Snatch Game.
03:54You're both so different,
03:55but you're showing how you don't have to be a caricature.
03:59People always think when they're dealing with a person
04:02of a different race or different culture,
04:04that, oh, I gotta worry about the skin.
04:06Don't worry about the skin.
04:08Worry about what's within.
04:09Number seven, Alaska as Roxy Andrews.
04:12Everyone loves the puppet mini-challenge,
04:14and for good reason.
04:15It delivered some truly hilarious moments
04:17before it was rudely laid to rest by the Drag Race producers.
04:20One such moment came in season five,
04:22with Alaska's take on Roxy Andrews.
04:25Roxy, you look amazing.
04:28Where'd you get your outfit?
04:30Same place I always get my outfit, girl.
04:33I made it ten minutes before I got on the runway.
04:36Hi!
04:37Armed with a hand puppet designed to look like her
04:39R'alaska Talks sister,
04:41Alaska took jabs at Roxy's penchant for reveals,
04:44including her now-iconic wig reveal.
04:46I don't think that wig is really working with this outfit.
04:50That's okay, y'all.
04:51I got another wig out of me!
04:55Alaska has always had razor-sharp comedic instincts,
04:59and she put every single one of them to use here,
05:01as she lampooned Roxy for her verse
05:03in the Can I Get an Amen song.
05:05It all came together in a way that felt both affectionate
05:08and completely ruthless at the same time.
05:10Hey!
05:12Where my people at?
05:13Where my people at?
05:15Yeah, bitch, you better keep repeating that,
05:16because America's gonna know.
05:17When they buy that song on iTunes,
05:18Can I Get an Amen,
05:19they're gonna say,
05:20where my people at?
05:21Number 6, Violet Tchotchke as Alyssa Edwards.
05:24Can I see a little bit of your Alyssa Edwards?
05:26301s, done.
05:27Top, bottom, done.
05:31That's good!
05:32Violet Tchotchke's reputation on Season 7
05:35was largely built on her jaw-dropping skills on the runway,
05:38and not necessarily comedy.
05:40So when she stepped into the Snatch Game as Alyssa Edwards,
05:42expectations were cautiously low.
05:45Turns out, Violet had been paying close attention.
05:47I've always wanted to ask you, Alyssa,
05:49what is your secret?
05:52I'm sitting on it.
05:53Oh, oh, okay.
05:55You almost got me there, bitch.
05:57Oh, good to know.
05:59She zeroed in on Alyssa's exuberant personality,
06:02her dramatic facial expressions,
06:03and that wonderfully unfiltered energy
06:06that makes the Dancing Queen of Mesquite, Texas
06:08so endlessly quotable.
06:09RuPaul seemed genuinely entertained,
06:11as Violet held her own on a Snatch Game panel
06:14that included some fierce competition.
06:16The dynamic duo can start the Batcave into a...
06:20A dance studio, baby.
06:22Hashtag beyond belief.
06:24It wasn't a winning performance, sure,
06:26but it was a strong, committed display
06:28that showed Violet had far more range
06:30than people initially gave her credit for.
06:32Number 5.
06:33Nina Bonina Brown as Jasmine Masters.
06:36Hey, bitch.
06:38What brings you back to Drag Race?
06:40I got something to say.
06:41I bet you do.
06:44A strong Snatch Game character needs three things.
06:47A distinct personality,
06:49unforgettable moments,
06:50and clear comedic potential.
06:52Few Drag Race queens fit that brief better
06:55than Jasmine Masters.
06:56For the Season 9 Snatch Game,
06:58Nina Bonina Brown chose to portray Jasmine
07:00and fully committed to her signature bluntness,
07:03deadpan delivery,
07:04and unfiltered stream of consciousness.
07:07American Who?
07:08If it's not on BET,
07:10I don't know what it is.
07:13So if it's not on BET,
07:15you don't watch it?
07:16Hell to the no.
07:17The performance landed Nina
07:18in the top three for the challenge.
07:20Although Jasmine's larger-than-life persona
07:22offers plenty to work with,
07:24embodying her convincingly
07:25still takes a lot of skill.
07:27Nina had that skill,
07:28and she used it to craft
07:29one of the more underrated
07:30Snatch Game performances
07:31in the show's history.
07:33You played by your own rules.
07:34You didn't answer the questions
07:35the way they were meant to be answered.
07:37You answered them the way
07:37you wanted to answer them.
07:39I thought that was really, really cool.
07:41Number 4.
07:42Ben de la Creme as Bianca Del Rio.
07:44If any queen was gonna take
07:45the puppet mini-challenge
07:46on Season 6
07:47and completely unravel it
07:49in the most unhinged way possible,
07:51of course it was Ben de la Creme.
07:52Hi there, Bianca.
07:53How are you doing today?
07:55Terrible!
07:56These people are up on...
07:57Oh, well, Bianca,
07:59what a thing to say.
08:01Baloney!
08:02Her impression of Bianca Del Rio
08:03was dialed up to 11,
08:05and then she snapped
08:06the dial clean off.
08:07Dela weaponized Bianca's
08:09legendary insult comic persona,
08:11cranking the sharpness
08:12and intensity to a level
08:13that was almost theatrical
08:14in its absurdity.
08:16Bianca, tell me a little bit
08:17about how you're feeling
08:18in this competition.
08:19All these people are idiots!
08:22Adores an idiot!
08:23Dela's got a stupid voice!
08:24Every cutting remark,
08:25every withering look,
08:27every trademark Bianca gesture
08:29got amplified
08:29until the whole thing
08:30became this gloriously
08:31chaotic caricature.
08:32Bianca herself,
08:33who was watching from nearby,
08:35couldn't fully suppress
08:36her reaction.
08:37When you can make
08:38Bianca Del Rio laugh that hard,
08:40you've genuinely
08:41done something remarkable.
08:42Baloney!
08:43I have no problems!
08:44I live in New York!
08:45I work all the time!
08:48Baloney!
08:49Number 3.
08:50Bob the Drag Queen
08:51as Simone.
08:52This is my presentation
08:53as Simone.
08:53Every time Simone
08:53has run away.
08:55She does do that!
09:01Like she is your drunk
09:02cousin at the...
09:03Honestly,
09:04nobody does effortless
09:05pinpoint impressions
09:07quite like
09:07Bob the Drag Queen.
09:08And the proof
09:09is all over her podcast
09:11Sibling Rivalry,
09:12which she co-hosts
09:13with Monet X Change.
09:14In one episode
09:15recapping season 13
09:16of Drag Race,
09:17Bob launched into
09:18an impression
09:18of eventual winner Simone,
09:20specifically zeroing in
09:21on the way she moves
09:22down the runway.
09:23I'm gonna pick a TikTok
09:24being like Simone
09:25answering any questions.
09:26Simone.
09:27Yes?
09:31How are you all today?
09:33Of course,
09:33this was an exaggeration,
09:35but Simone's dramatic
09:36head bobs
09:36and signature leanback strut
09:38are the exact traits
09:39that make her unique.
09:40That impression was funny
09:41because it was true.
09:42And true
09:43because Bob
09:44clearly pays
09:45very close attention.
09:46In another episode,
09:47Bob also nailed
09:48Utica's eccentric personality
09:50with equal precision.
09:51I've never been
09:52to a ball
09:53weird, weird.
09:55I've never been
09:56to a
09:56number two,
09:59Corey King
09:59as Susie Toot,
10:00AKA Corey Toot.
10:08Following her run
10:10on season 17,
10:11Corey King built
10:12a dedicated following
10:13through her YouTube channel,
10:14partly by creating
10:15comedic character mashups.
10:16But among everything
10:17she's created,
10:18one persona rises
10:19above the rest,
10:20Corey Toot,
10:21her hilarious tribute
10:22to her season 17 sister,
10:24Susie Toot.
10:25Oh,
10:26I always wanted
10:27to be in the papers.
10:28Oh.
10:31Oh.
10:33Oh.
10:34Oh.
10:34Oh.
10:34The impression
10:35is so fully realized
10:37that Corey even
10:38extended it onto Cameo,
10:39offering personalized videos
10:41entirely in character.
10:42The physicality,
10:44the voice,
10:44that god-awful wig,
10:46all came together
10:47nicely enough
10:47to allow Corey
10:48to completely inhabit Susie.
10:50Fans have gone
10:50absolutely feral
10:51for Corey Toot specifically,
10:53and it's easy
10:54to understand why.
10:55Some impressions
10:56make you laugh once.
10:57This one has become
10:58an ongoing comedy
10:59institution unto itself.
11:01And now,
11:02the Gettysburg Address
11:04in Morse Code.
11:09Number 1,
11:10Aja as Crystal LaBeija.
11:12Where's Sabrina?
11:13I will sue the f***, darling.
11:16Crystal LaBeija
11:17from the legendary
11:17house of LaBeija.
11:20The founder,
11:20the mother,
11:21the creator,
11:21I am everything,
11:22and I know I'm beautiful.
11:23I don't need anyone
11:24to tell me.
11:25Aja's season 9
11:26snatch game,
11:27where she portrayed
11:28Alyssa Edwards,
11:29was largely forgettable.
11:30But,
11:31fast forward
11:31to All Stars 3,
11:32and Aja showed everyone
11:34exactly what
11:35she was capable of.
11:36For that season's
11:36snatch game,
11:37she chose to honor
11:38Crystal LaBeija,
11:39the trailblazing
11:40drag queen
11:41and ballroom legend
11:42whose appearance
11:42in the documentary
11:43The Queen
11:44became iconic
11:45for her fierce,
11:46unfiltered confrontation
11:47with the pageant's judges.
11:49Darling,
11:49let me tell you something
11:50about my friend Monique.
11:51She's not here
11:51because she's melting
11:52in his mouth
11:53and his hands,
11:53but she called me
11:54this morning
11:54and she said,
11:55Crystal,
11:56let me tell you
11:56about the snatch game.
11:58None of the true beauties
11:58are going to be there,
11:59and darling,
12:00she was right.
12:00Aja's portrayal
12:01was sharp,
12:02layered,
12:03and genuinely
12:04reverential
12:04while still being entertaining.
12:06Capturing someone
12:07as historically significant
12:08and fiercely compelling
12:09as Crystal LaBeija
12:10is no small task,
12:11and Aja rose to it
12:13in a way that felt like
12:14both a hilarious
12:14comedic performance
12:15and a genuine tribute.
12:17What makes it
12:18an exceptional snatch game
12:19is that I was there,
12:20of course.
12:21I brought the beauty,
12:22the grace,
12:22the elegance,
12:23and the opulence,
12:24because without Crystal,
12:25there would have been
12:26none of that.
12:27Which drag queen impression
12:28lives rent-free in your head?
