Robert Hanssen was a respected FBI agent who secretly betrayed the United States for years.
Beginning in 1985, Hanssen passed highly classified information to Soviet and Russian intelligence while working in sensitive FBI counterintelligence positions. His access allowed him to compromise intelligence sources, investigations, documents, and sensitive operations.
In 2000, investigators finally obtained Russian intelligence documents pointing toward Hanssen. On February 18, 2001, he was arrested during a secret dead-drop operation.
His case became one of the most damaging espionage scandals in FBI history.
Prescott ValleyX explores true stories, history, mysterious events, remarkable people, and forgotten moments that changed history.
