00:00I was 12 when it happened. I was 12 when I was. As we were going up the stairs, my
00:05friend turned to
00:05me and said, you'll be sleeping in my room and I'm going to be sleeping in my brother's room
00:10because he's not here tonight. I was really kind of scared. And so my next memory really is of the
00:15door opening. And I remember kind of thinking, I'll just pretend to be asleep, but I didn't
00:20really know who it was. And it was her dad. Her dad had come into the room and he told
00:24me not to
00:25scream, which I couldn't have anyways, because I was completely frozen. Like this was not something
00:30my brain could fully understand. I don't remember much of this. I just remember looking at the pink
00:36curtains. What I do remember of afterwards is that her dad immediately kind of went into this
00:42almost regret mode while he was sitting there. He said two things to me that I think really shaped
00:48the next many years of my life. He said, obviously like no one is going to believe you. So don't
00:53even bother saying anything. And then the thing that like really hurt more was that he tried to
00:59justify what he had done by saying that he would never do it to his own daughters because they were,
01:04they deserved better than I did.
