00:00As we've seen with climate change across the globe, these are becoming more normal events,
00:04so we are preparing for this to be the new normal for London.
00:08It's a very simple advice we offer. It's about clearing your gardens,
00:11making sure that you don't have lots and lots of overgrown dry vegetation,
00:15which can be a source of fuel.
00:17If you've got stacks of wood or piles of debris in your garden,
00:20just keeping it clear, keeping it tidy,
00:23so that should a fire get in and should a fire spread,
00:25it'll be much harder for it to spread to either your shed or into the property.
00:29So it's just keeping things neat and tidy and making sure that there isn't sources of ignition
00:35or sources of fire spread in your garden.
00:38London has got such a large expanse of green area.
00:40It's one of its great virtues, is how much green space we have in London.
00:43But obviously, if you're in a moorland, you're not going to have many houses around.
00:47In London, we've got lots of residential, lots of urban environment,
00:50and it's that complex link between grassland and between vegetation and the urban environment,
00:56which presents us with a particular challenge for wildfire.
01:00The advice is really, really simple.
01:01Don't have naked flames.
01:03Be careful with barbecues.
01:04Be careful with open flames.
01:06And be careful with your disposal of your cigarettes.
01:08Take your rubbish home, and that'll help us to mitigate the risks
01:11of this happening to somebody else in London.
01:12Take care.
01:13Take care.
