00:00Just a quick overview, we have close to 500 sheriff deputies working throughout the county,
00:08working on evacuations, working on traffic control, both ingress and egress, and we are
00:16also working what we call looter suppression.
00:19It's unfortunate that we have to assign people to do that task, but we have, and we have
00:25made arrests behind that.
00:27In regards to resources on the way to this press conference, our northern command made
00:35a request for 100 more deputies, or roughly 100 more deputies, so we are in the process
00:42from a mutual aid perspective of sending what we have internally and then requesting resources
00:48from counties around us as we are working, as you see and hear, many different priorities.
00:57Because this event continues and we continue to get new fires, the mayor mentioned it,
01:02Chief McDonald mentioned it, I've been working with the state, the Office of Emergency Services,
01:09for the last several days in trying to estimate the California National Guard and how they
01:17would be utilized.
01:19We made the official request earlier today, and I'm happy to report that they have been
01:26staged and ready to go.
01:30They're going to be start, they're going to get deployed to specific missions.
01:35The first missions will be at the Palisades Fire, at the Eaton Fire.
01:40They will be supporting the city of Los Angeles as well.
01:43Mayor Bass and Chief McDonald made that request to us.
01:47There are several other cities that have requested National Guard resources, the city
01:52of Santa Monica, the city of Pasadena, the city of Arcadia.
