00:03Black holes are some of the most mysterious and powerful forces in the universe.
00:08But what if that power could be harnessed?
00:09That's exactly what researchers from Tianjin University in China are now proposing,
00:14suggesting that the future of energy could come from tiny black holes.
00:17I know what you're thinking.
00:18Anything that crosses a black hole's event horizon can never come out again.
00:22And that's true.
00:22However, their new theory doesn't deal with what's inside the black hole,
00:25but rather what's directly around it.
00:27The strongest gravitational concentrations we know of.
00:30This theory also deals with primordial black holes,
00:33or ones that are not super massive and tens of billions of times the size of our sun,
00:37but rather tiny, even subatomic.
00:39Those are believed to have formed from excess primordial plasma in the moment shortly after the Big Bang.
00:44The only problem is we're not sure they even exist.
00:46If they do, it's conceivable we could use a black hole's own gravity to produce electricity
00:51by converting its non-electric gravitational energy into electrical power,
00:55essentially turning it into a battery.
00:57And they add it could be re-upped with charged particles,
01:00even those released as a by-product of radioactive decay.
