00:02Surrounding the Northern Expressway between Adelaide and Gawler was once farmland. Engulfing
00:08it now is the effect of urban sprawl. New developments creating new opportunities for
00:14people like Stephanie and Joe Vodopinov who currently rent in Adelaide's inner west.
00:19We did try and find some homes closer to that area just because we've got family there and
00:26church and things like that but it was just out of our price range so we had to look either
00:31up north or down south and we really like that going up this way even though it's a bit further
00:41kilometre wise you're saving a lot of time because of the expressway.
00:44Basically the price would run away from you so you save up for your deposits, get your
00:50pay slips, prices are just out of range and then you try and save up more, try and work
00:55a bit harder and it just kept running away down the west and we started looking out here
01:02and our property basically fell on our laps.
01:06There's been overwhelming demand for land in this development at Andrews Farm alone. All
01:12lots have been sold but more releases are expected in the future. Joe and Stephanie both work in
01:18the city. Once they move 40 kilometres from the CBD there will be even more driving to be done.
01:25For us it was more important to get into the market. This is going to be our first house as
01:30well, our first property together so we thought we have to sacrifice somewhere so if that's something
01:36then it wasn't too bad for us. For me to get to work I think took about 15 minutes longer
01:43than
01:43where I grew up. When I done the calculations it's actually not that much further to work every day.
01:49The couple who have two young girls are spending money to try and save dollars on the road.
01:56We did purchase a hybrid car so hopefully that saves us a bit of a bit of money that way.

02:03constantly look at all these factors we're just we're just always going to be in the same place.
02:08With new housing infrastructure being built services must grow with the population and the
02:14Vodopinovs can already see their future taking shape. There's a lot of shopping centres,
02:20schools as well, we've got the Gawler Hospital, you've got Lyle McEwan as well. So in that sense
02:27there is really, we're not really lacking in anything. The family are hoping to move into their home
02:33in December starting a new chapter along with thousands of others in the area.
