00:19This, as you saw from the fancy intro, is the latest edition of CanCheck.
00:23I am coming to you from my parents' house for an episode of CanCheck that is to honor
00:28my parents who are out right now celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary and I decided
00:35to be a good son and I had rehearsal earlier today with my jazz combo.
00:39Quick plug, we're called Standard Deviants.
00:41You can see us play at Stone and Porch Fest at the Fuller House on the 29th of April.
00:46In fact, my dad and my uncles, they have a band called Chapman Brothers Garage.
00:49We're going to be playing together.
00:51So put a pin in that.
00:52But my folks are out today celebrating their anniversary and I decided to be the good son
00:57and after rehearsal, swing by, take their mail in and drink their beer.
01:02My folks are, right now, my mom enjoys Corona.
01:06That's her go-to.
01:07My dad enjoys, he's been drinking Blue Moon a lot lately.
01:12But the cool thing about like the beer fridge in my parents' house is you'll have whatever
01:17they've been drinking lately.
01:18But then there'll be some kind of cool mongrels hanging out in the back.
01:22You know, maybe a couple of my uncles were over for rehearsal and they brought some like
01:26a six-pack over and there's like something left over in the back.
01:29So I came over and I took the mail in and took a look at the place, make sure everything
01:35was, you know, capisce.
01:36They're only out for the day, but you know, and make sure everything's a spit spot.
01:39So anyway, I start rummaging through the beer cooler and as expected, or beer fridge
01:45rather, as expected.
01:46Uh, there's Corona's and there's Blue Moon's and I even moved some things around and there
01:51was like a, you know, Sam Summer or something in there and then twisted this around and wouldn't
01:57you know it, there's a long trail ale in there.
02:02Oh, take a look at that.
02:03You see it?
02:03So you can read the bottom there, Vermont's original ale.
02:07So long trail brewing company, uh, they started back in Bridgewater corners, Vermont.
02:12Um, well, that's where they're housed now.
02:14I don't know if that's where they were.
02:15They started, uh, but the first batch of this ale rolled off the line in 1989 back when
02:20they were known as mountain brewers, uh, long trailer trail blazers in the Vermont brewing
02:25industry.
02:26The name of this particular beer comes from, uh, Vermont's 273 mile walking path.
02:31You might remember long trail pale ale.
02:34That was a big thing for a while, but right now, uh, they're bottling their original ale long
02:38trail ale, uh, which there's only one left and it's mine because I'm the good son and
02:43taking the mail in, uh, on the anniversary.
02:46Uh, here's my, I had to go behind the bar and grab, uh, one of my dad's church keys here.
02:50This actually might be my great grandfather's.
02:53I'm going to have my dad on a future edition of can check, and we're going to ask him about
02:57that.
02:57But right now I'm going to pop the top and say cheers.

03:10And it drinks so smooth and it's going to be a great accompaniment for about a half a
03:15box of cheese.
03:16It's, I think that's going to be my snack.
