A garbage truck suspected of suffering brake failure skidded down a hill and crashed into the perimeter wall of the Pantai Hillpark condominium in Kuala Lumpur early Wednesday (Aug 12), before its front end fell and crushed three parked cars.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief, ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, said the driver showed up at the KL traffic police station at around 3.15pm to lodge a police report on the incident.

00:17Mohamad Isas said the incident occurred around 4.10am.
00:21The truck driver, a 41-year-old local man, was not at the scene when police arrived.
00:26Efforts to trace the driver were carried out,
00:28and he was successfully located while receiving treatment for an injury to his left leg at a nearby hospital.
00:35Mohamad Zamzuri said,
00:36At the time of the incident, two Bangladeshi workers were carrying out garbage collection duties in the area.
00:43Fortunately, both workers were not injured, as they were on the road at the time of the incident.
00:48The driver later showed up at the Kuala Lumpur traffic police station at around 3.15pm
00:53to lodge a police report on the incident.
00:55A breathalyzer test returned no trace of alcohol.
00:58The truck will be sent to Puspakom for further inspection to determine the actual cause of the incident.
01:04The case is being investigated under Section 43, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act.
