00:00So we're going to put up on the screen a few of the things that are part of your platform,
00:03and I want to ask you, just give me sort of a true or false on these. Abolish the Senate.
00:08True. Okay. Replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them.
00:14Yep. Abolish ICE.
00:18Absolutely. Abolish borders and give amnesty to anyone currently in the U.S. illegally.
00:25As a long-term plan, yep. Defund the Pentagon.
00:30Absolutely. Abolish prisons, at least in large part.
00:35Yeah, again, as part of a long-term program, yeah.
00:38Okay, so no prisons. Government or public ownership of most large corporations.
00:44Yeah, absolutely.
00:45So we're going to put up on the screen.
00:50DSA co-chair Megan Romer recently did a, went on a podcast where she got asked a serious series of
01:02questions
01:04and surprisingly didn't really have any answers, to be completely honest.
01:09And it was just like, hmm, if you believe in this thing so much, wouldn't you know it like the
01:17back of your hand?
01:18Wouldn't you have all of the answers?
01:20I mean, she got absolutely embarrassed and the guy wasn't even trying to embarrass her.
01:24That's how bad these DSA folks are.
01:28They got embarrassed without even, without the person even attempting to embarrass them.
01:34It's almost akin to when Kamala Harris was asked by Sonny Hostin, couldn't think of her name there for a
01:45second,
01:45what would she do differently than Joe Biden?
01:48And Kamala said nothing.
01:52It's almost akin to that kind of moment where you're just like, huh?
01:59Like, at least lie.
02:01I mean, geez, like that, that's how terrible you guys are.
02:04My goodness.
02:05My goodness.
02:07Yeah, so I want to get into it.
02:09It's absolutely hilarious and it's been making its rounds on the internet.
02:13So with that being said, smack the like button, subscribe if you are new.
02:17Also, check out my second channel.
02:19It is called Extra Rich.
02:20That link is down below in the description box.
02:22Thank you guys for all of the continued love and support.
02:24I greatly appreciate you all.
02:26Let's jump into it.
02:28I think what might have disturbed some people who are watching that Fox clip,
02:34there was a certain kind of, you know, breezy.
02:37Yeah, I'm for that.
02:38I'm for that.
02:38And there was no detail at all.
02:40And when you come to an issue like prison abolition and just say, yep, I'm for that.
02:46Or defund the police?
02:48Sure, I'm for that.
02:51It was a little startling.
02:53Now, it might have been the form of the show.
02:55So let's flip the switch here and dig down a little.
02:58What do you mean by prison abolition?
03:00We've had on this show Michelle Alexander who wrote The New Jim Crow.
03:04And plenty of people in the Democratic Party, even in the establishment, have rejected mass incarceration.
03:11And some things have been done to bring it down.
03:14What does prison abolition mean to you?
03:17So, again, let's start from first principles, right?
03:21What do we need?
03:22We need safety.
03:23Let's not begin from first principles.
03:24Let's begin from what is to be done, to use a Leninist phrase.
03:30No, I mean, I think you have to start from first principles.
03:32And that is the core of this.
03:34We need community safety.
03:35We need people to be safe.
03:36We need people to be able to live their lives without fear of being assaulted, without fear of being robbed,
03:44without fear of violence.
03:46What communities do we know are the safest?
03:49It's not communities with cops on every corner.
03:51It's communities that have good schools, good jobs, good park systems, good recreation for their teenagers, things like that.
03:58Those are the safe communities.
04:00Yeah.
04:00And why do those communities have those things?
04:06Because the crime is low.
04:07Why aren't the cops patrolling those areas like they are others?
04:11Because the crime is low.
04:13So when she says, well, it's not the areas with the most cops.
04:16Well, duh, because that just wouldn't make sense.
04:18Why would cops patrol the area where there's virtually no crime?
04:22That's a waste of resources.
04:24They're going to be where most of the crime is.
04:27They go where the crime is.
04:28And yeah, does poverty contribute to that?
04:32Absolutely.
04:33But it's kind of like a cycle, right?
04:37Where there's more crime, there's typically more poverty.
04:41And where there's more poverty, there's typically more crime.
04:43So in order to fix the situation, you've got to get rid of the crime first.
04:50That's the key.
04:51You surge the area with police and you eradicate the crime.
04:57Once the crime is down, now the businesses come.
05:00Because believe it or not, even in the hood, money flows.
05:04Money flows.
05:05Some might argue more than even some well affluent neighborhoods.
05:10Because people are so frivolous with their money.
05:15They're just throwing money all over the place, right?
05:18So it's not about, you know, get rid of the police officers.
05:24You need more police officers to get rid of the crime.
05:27Because once the crime is down, now the businesses come.
05:30And the businesses aren't going to come when the crime is high.
05:33Nobody's going to want to work in that type of environment.
05:36Let alone have a business because you're getting robbed.
05:38You're getting your business vandalized.
05:40All types of stuff.
05:42Nobody wants to work in that type of environment.
05:44Because now not only is your money being put at risk.
05:48Because, you know, these entrepreneurs put their money up to start these businesses.
05:53That's something that a lot of people don't think about.
05:55You know, it costs to start a business.
05:58And so their hard-earned dollars are being put at risk.
06:01But also their life.
06:03They don't want to be behind the cash register when some hoodlum decides to run in there with a gun
06:08and rob the place.
06:09They don't want that to happen.
06:11You know how many videos I've seen of just cashiers being shot for no gosh darn reason?
06:16The guy wanted to rob the place and he ended up shooting the cashier just because?
06:21Like, nobody wants to be in that type of situation.
06:23I'm sure some of you have heard of those types of situations where the cashier was shot because the person
06:28wanted to rob the place.
06:29Of like a hundred bucks.
06:32And it's just like, this stuff is silly.
06:35So nobody wants that.
06:36So get rid of the crime and now the businesses come.
06:38Once the businesses come, the jobs come.
06:42Once the jobs come, now we're talking.
06:45Right?
06:46Now we're talking.
06:46Now money is exchanging hands and flowing.
06:50Okay?
06:51And so that is the key.
06:53Not less police officers.
06:55But, you know, these people think they have it all figured out.
06:57In reality, they don't.
07:00Not even a little bit.
07:01But anyway, I'm going to let her carry on.
07:04Able to live their lives without fear of being assaulted, without fear of being robbed, without fear of violence.
07:12What communities do we know are the safest?
07:16It's not communities with cops on every corner.
07:17It's communities that have good schools, good jobs, good park systems, good recreation for their teenagers.
07:24Things like that.
07:25Those are the safe communities.
07:26What does defunding the police mean in your mind?
07:29Every year, police budgets go up.
07:31Every year, there's a backlog of rape kits that don't get tested.
07:35Should they be maintained?
07:36I am not in favor of getting rid of police entirely tomorrow.
07:40No, defunding the police means no funding.
07:42I think that's, you know.
07:43I don't think so.
07:44I think it means taking funding back and moving it elsewhere.
07:49That's right.
07:49So pulling some of that funding back and moving it elsewhere.
07:52To the extent to which we are fully funding social services, to which we are fully funding schools,
08:00lunch programs for kids, after school programs for kids.
08:04Communities should be clean and they should be safe.
08:06We should be funding putting trees up so people have more.
08:10I don't think anybody's going to argue about any of that, trees or anything of the like.
08:15And here's my pushback.
08:16I guarantee you, folks like her, if they were allowed to do exactly what it is that they're saying, they
08:22wouldn't live in those areas.
08:25Yeah, let's defund the police.
08:26Let's get rid of all the police.
08:28All right.
08:29Live on that block.
08:32Live in that same area where you say there's no police.
08:36Live there.
08:36I dare you.
08:38I guarantee you won't.
08:40You're going to live across town in a nice neighborhood with a bunch of rich folks, probably white folks, right?
08:49You know, the same white people that you demonize on a daily basis.
08:53That's going to be your neighbors.
08:55Not the people in the neighborhood where you say defund the police.
08:58We're going to get rid of all these individuals, all of these police who are here to protect the people.
09:01You're not going to live there.
09:03Not at all.
09:05Not by a long shot.
09:07Guarantee it.
09:08But they're concerned.
09:09But they do.
09:10They do.
09:10Because there's always more money for the police budgets.
09:13And there is never money for how do we just literally make our communities safer, nicer, healthier.
09:19And that does come to the question.
09:22We say we don't have enough money.
09:24Why do you think a number of politicians in your orbit who use the rhetoric of defund the police have
09:31kind of taken it back or muffled it or gotten rid of it entirely?
09:34I think you see, you know, different phrasings of the same idea.
09:39And, you know, if we're just talking about branding, I think that's not really the exercise we need to be
09:44spending a bunch of time on.
09:45I think we need to be talking to people about, like, what makes your community safe?
09:48And that is how DSA functions.
09:50We have a million conversations on the door.
09:52We are out in the communities actually changing minds.
09:55Democrats really like a slogan.
09:56They like an ad.
09:57They like a mailer.
09:58You've made an argument for abolishing the Senate.
10:02And we both live in a state that has a, I don't know what, multiple of a population of Wyoming,
10:08which also has two senators.
10:09We all understand that.
10:11The Electoral College, we understand why it was put in place in the first place and why it's outdated now.
10:17But I think we can also agree that the chances of amending the Constitution to that effect are about zero.
10:25Does taking that kind of theoretical position, however principled, distract from DSA policies that might really succeed or be more
10:33urgent?
10:34I don't think so.
10:35I think taking principled positions tells people that you're principled.
10:39And I think we see voters really responding to that.
10:42And we see people saying, oh, you're actually thinking about the systems.
10:45You know, even Thomas Jefferson, for all of his heinous problems, I think he was writing letters to James Madison
10:54where he talked about, we need a new Constitution every 19 years.
10:57Because he did some calculation in his head that that is when a generation changes over.
11:02And he said people should not be haunted by these rules set for them by previous generations.
11:06So this is not actually it's not a new concept to say, like, hey, wait a second.
11:11Why are we doing this thing this way?
11:14Give me the dynamics within DSA.
11:16Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zoran Mamdani, too, have been criticized by people in DSA for moderating various positions.
11:25AOC took advice from Nancy Pelosi.
11:27Mamdani retained the New York City police commissioner.
11:32From the previous administration.
11:34Yep.
11:36So what I think often on the outside looks like.
11:40Nervous laugh.
11:41Infighting or mess.
11:42We just call it democracy.
11:43We think it's good.
11:45We're always happy to pick apart anything.
11:48Ruthless critique of all that exists, to use a Marxist phrase.
11:52You've quoted Marx now a few times in our conversation.
11:55I did quote Thomas Jefferson, too.
11:57Not happily.
11:58Not without ambivalence.
12:00Well, I was ruthlessly critiquing him for all that exists.
12:03You think you're going to get far by quoting Marxist theory in this country?
12:06Or do you think that that kind of Cold War antipathy to Marx, to say the least, is gone?
12:16I think that people see that capitalism is not working for them.
12:20And I think, you know, when you talk to people on the doors, they don't care if you're quoting Marx
12:24or Thomas Jefferson.
12:25They care about whether or not their building is safe, whether or not there are rats crawling around in their
12:31children's bedrooms.
12:31Of course, but but but and you can say, hey, guess what?
12:36There's this thing in Vienna called the Karl Marx Hoff.
12:39And it's a house and it's called named after Karl Marx.
12:42And it is dignified, clean, high quality social housing.
12:47And that is that is a real thing that exists.
12:50I think people aren't afraid of.
12:52Is there a model for a politics or a society that is real and existing in this world that you
12:58would like to see the United States copy or or somehow be close to?
13:05Wait for it.
13:05I wish I wish that that more socialist experiments could be happening without CIA interference, without U.S. sanctions messing
13:15with it.
13:16You know, but I wish that we weren't doing, you know, spending billions of dollars to destabilize Cuba.
13:21I think I think there are lessons we can take from different socialist projects.
13:26I think the Cuban Family Code is a really interesting one in.
13:29Oh, don't notice how she's changing the subject.
13:31It's never worked on a mass scale.
13:34It's never worked.
13:35She knows that.
13:36Well, we're so more experienced to have been experiments.
13:39You know, I think it's funny that these people always quote Marx, Karl Marx.
13:44Um, when in reality, what a lot of people don't realize is that Karl Marx, uh, for like the last,
13:52I believe it was like 30 years of his life was in exile.
13:57He's not even buried where he, where he's from.
14:00Karl Marx is buried in like England, I believe.
14:05Like his, his, his own people didn't even want his dead body.
14:09Like he's not even buried where he's from, but yet like these, these, these folks, um, you know, talk about
14:16him as if he was like this, this fantastic individual.
14:19And listen, I'm not, I'm, I'm, I'm not glorifying anybody's death, even if I disagreed with him.
14:24Um, now, obviously, you know, he wouldn't be alive today, even if, you know, he was like the absolute most
14:30healthiest person ever.
14:32Uh, but you know, like his, his, his own people, where he was from, like hated him, you know?
14:40So why are, why is this guy like to be glorified?
14:44I'm, I'm, I'm kind of confused.
14:45I'm kind of confused to the point where he's not even buried in his own home country.
14:54You know, that, that, that, that part's confusing me a little bit as well.
14:58Um, but yeah, I, I hear this lady blaming anybody and everybody, but the fact that this stuff just doesn't
15:07work.
15:08On a smaller scale, yeah, sure.
15:10It might work for a little while, but eventually it's going to fall apart.
15:16Just like it does on a mass scale.
15:18Like this stuff just does not work.
15:20And I, I, I, I don't, I really don't get why people keep trying to run back to it as
15:25if it's this new fantastic idea.
15:29That's never been tried.
15:30It's never been put together.
15:31It's never been done on a mass scale.
15:33It has, it's been tried multiple times in the past.
15:37Multiple times on mass scale and on smaller scales as well.
15:41And it's always falling apart every single time, every single time.
15:48And then also, uh, and I, I posted a YouTube short about this, but when, when you ask these folks
15:54to live the life that they're promoting,
15:58all of that, all of that talk goes right out the window.
16:01Check out my, one of my latest YouTube shorts.
16:04I think I uploaded it.
16:05Maybe, maybe, maybe I need to upload it.
16:07Cause I, uh, Oh, maybe I didn't upload it.
16:12Did I not?
16:14Let's see.
16:15I thought I did.
16:16I know.
16:16I know.
16:17I put it together.
16:17Maybe I just didn't upload it yet.
16:21Um, I thought I did.
16:22Yes, I did.
16:22I did.
16:23I did.
16:23Check out my latest, uh, YouTube short where you have Charlie Kirk calling out Hassan Piker,
16:30because obviously Hassan Piker, I mean, the guy is very, very wealthy.
16:34He's doing very well for himself.
16:36Uh, multi, multi millions.
16:38Charlie Kirk calls him out.
16:40Like if you, if you believe in all of this stuff, taxing the rich, you know, taxing the crap out
16:45of people,
16:45why don't you just tax the crap out of yourself?
16:47Give up all of your money.
16:49In the moment, he says that all of that talk goes right out the window.
16:53Go and check out that YouTube short.
16:54But, uh, every, every single time you do that to these folks, it all falls apart.
16:58Go, uh, if you, if you ask that Megan chick that you just saw on your screen, uh, to go
17:03and live in these areas that she's talking about, you know, not having police and all
17:07of this other stuff, Hey, just put the money towards social programs and all of this other
17:11stuff.
17:11Guarantee you, she won't guarantee you.
17:14She won't.
17:15So like, why push it?
17:18It's for power.
17:19It's power.
17:20They understand what this ultimately devolves down to power.
17:24They want people to give up power.
17:26So they're the ones with it.
17:28And when that's the case, it's going to be hard to reverse it.
17:32Once you've given up all of your power, once you've given up all of your guns, once you've
17:35given up the ability to fight back and they have all the power, there's virtually nothing
17:40you can do about it.
17:44They're the ones that feed you.
17:45You're going to bite the hand that feeds you.
17:47Good luck.
17:48Good luck.
17:50Guarantee you, guarantee you those, those trucks stopped coming back to the city.
17:54Those trucks of food stopped coming back to the city.
17:57Now what?
17:59What you, you, you, you're going to storm the buildings that they live in.
18:02They paid off the military.
18:04Good luck with that.
18:05You gave up all your guns.
18:07How are you going to fight against the military without guns?
18:11They paid off the police too.
18:14So all of these folks are on their side.
18:16So you think they're going to, you think they're going to turn their backs on them the way
18:20that they eat, the, the, the, the food that's put on a table, the roof that's put over their
18:24family's head to help you.
18:30And these people know that these people have watched that type of stuff happen.
18:35That's what it boils down to in the end.
18:40But anyway, I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but, uh, I can sometimes figure things
18:47out.
18:49Y'all get in the comments.
18:51Let me know your thoughts and your opinions about all of this.
18:53Stay safe out there.
18:54Peace and love.
18:55I'm out.
