22:21a name that meant a valley with enclosed, cultivated land.

22:30One town in England proclaims its market status in Latin,
22:35and that is Blandford Forum, which is in Dorset.
22:37In the 14th century, pig markets were held on the beach at Brighton,
22:42and you might think the name of that town meant Bright Town.
22:46But actually, it was named instead after a man called Björthelm in Anglo-Saxon days.
22:50Changed slightly over time, but as late as 1823,
22:54you'll find records of Bright Helmstone, and that's what it was called.
22:57But by then, the town had been a fashionable resort for some years,
23:01and the Idlewitch might have been too full of port and brandy
23:04to bother with such a mouthful, and Brighton would have seemed much easier.
