00:00You know, I've said this on numerous times and I've said this also that when we're talking after the draft,
00:06I think Caleb Downs was the most talented player that was in that draft.
00:12And it's right now, it's August 8th.
00:15I'm not going to sit here and say this guy is going to be the next coming and the next
00:19greatest Dallas Cowboy of all time.
00:21But boy, I think this guy's got a lot of upside here.
00:24Brad, what have you seen so far with Caleb Downs and the kind of impact you think he might have
00:29on this defense this year?
00:31He'll have a big impact.
00:33You know, he's he played one year for Nick Saban at Alabama started Saban called him one of the best
00:39defensive players he'd ever had.
00:40Then he went to Ohio State.
00:42He was the anchor of that defense.
00:43He's he is smallish.
00:46So if you whoever you think the best safeties are have been like, you know what Darren Woodson could do.
00:54And why I think why I hope Woodson will go in the Hall of Fame as soon as next year.
01:00Charles Haley said last week when they when they asked about different schemes that the Cowboys had when they were
01:06winning those Super Bowls in the early 90s.
01:08He said we didn't have schemes.
01:09We had Darren Woodson and he would just move around and play.
01:13He was a linebacker.
01:14He was a slot corner.
01:16He was a safety.
01:18Well, Downs can do those things.
01:19He's just a little smaller than Woodson, but he hits, I think.
01:25I mean, we haven't seen anybody yet, but he he he he is the smartest player you could ever imagine.
01:31And he hits and he covers.
01:33And he is he's a tremendous, instinctive, natural leader.
01:37He's already gotten the respect of all the veterans.
01:40So they have some grownups that they maybe didn't have before.
01:43And but he's he is going to be in the back seven and it it takes 11 guys for a
01:50reason.
01:51But he's going to have a major impact.
01:54Does there seem to be a sense of urgency now, Brad?
01:58I mean, when you played for Jimmy, every time you walked in a building, there was a sense of urgency.
02:03And, you know, 30 seconds here, Brad, do you think that you feel that sense of urgency now?
02:09Yes, they they all understand that they've got a big mountain to climb.
02:13They can't climb it all in one day.
02:16They know that they were like the worst defense in the league.
02:19None of those guys likes that.
02:21And they all want to prove that they're the ones who are going to make it different.
