00:00I had posters of you on my wall as a teenager. That's my embarrassing story for the day.
00:05So this is a very big moment for me. That sounds like your amazing, awesome story answer.
00:09You know, like Bop and all those. Okay, so first I'm going to ask you a fun question,
00:15and then Nelly Andriva is our editor-in-chief, and she's covering the show.
00:19So she has something that we're not going to post, but she wants it for a post-mortem, if that's
00:23okay.
00:23Okay, thank you. Okay, so if you could introduce yourself.
00:25Hi, my name is Will Wheaton. I host the official companion show for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
00:33And if you squint later this season, you may actually see me in the show itself.
00:37You already revealed in a trailer, everybody went crazy because you're Will Wheaton, for God's sakes.
00:43Tell me why you decided to make a little appearance in this show.
00:48I'm really blessed and really grateful and really lucky to be extremely good friends with almost everyone involved in the
00:54production of this show.
00:55So for a couple of years, I've had kind of a front-row seat to the development of it,
01:00and I've been having lunches and dinners with Bill and like, just tell me more, tell me more,
01:04and getting more and more excited about people I love,
01:08like guys that I came up in Hollywood with in the local L.A. comedy and theater scene,
01:13all like hitting it out of the park, right?
01:16So when Bill asked me if I would come and work on the show, like, I said yes so fast,
01:25it probably created a bit of a sonic boom.
01:29I don't work very much on camera anymore.
01:31I really love acting with just my voice.
01:33But there are a couple of people I will always say yes to.
01:37Bill and Chuck are two of those people for sure.
01:39As this big star that you are and all of these things and all these different sides of the industry
01:44that you're involved in,
01:44do you still listen, like, as a fan?
01:47Oh my gosh, I'm a huge fan.
01:50I'm such a fan that one of my superpowers is, if you ask me about a thing that I'm a
01:55fan for,
01:55I will continue to talk about it five hours after you've really regretted asking me,
02:00what did you think of, right?
02:02Like, I'm a huge fan, and I love it.
02:05I once said that being a nerdy fan group or something is not about what you love,
02:10it's about the way you love it.
02:12So all of us who live in this sci-fi multiverse world where those are the things that we love,
02:17right,
02:17we get really excited about science fiction and fantasy, we cosplay to do that.
02:22And when somebody shows up who's, like, really into football,
02:25and they go to a football game all covered in paint,
02:27well, they're cosplaying for their football club, right?
02:29Like, it's really fun to be part of something with people who also love the thing that we're all doing.
02:38Stars, they're just like us.
02:41Now, Nellie's question.
02:45Oh, sorry, it's on my text.
02:46It's something about dying.
02:49She's the super fan.
02:51Okay, she said, ask him about his quick death if you can.
02:56I can hold it for episode three.
02:58He's in the magic episode.
03:00You can in about his magic fight with Brian where he is killed.
03:04Okay, hold on.
03:05And then she's posting that after the episode.
03:09I remember when the script was sent to me, and I was reading through it and not getting most of
03:15it because I hadn't seen anything else.
03:17And we get to the magic shop, and I knew that I was going to be a wizard because I
03:20had a costume fitting,
03:21but I didn't know anything about what it was going to be.
03:23What I see in the script is, Will Wheaton and Bert have an epic fireball fight.
03:29And I took a picture of it, and I texted that picture to Bill, and I just said, thank you.
03:35We had so much fun.
03:36Tom, the visual effects supervisor, and Brian and I really went through blocking and coordinating this entire fight sequence.
03:44And it was about, like, well, how do you tease the fireball up in your hand, and how do you
03:48shape the fireballs in your hand?
03:50And for a particular kind of nerd, it's a really big deal to be a wizard throwing a fireball.
03:56And to see it, and to see that, like, I look so much cooler than I've ever looked ever in
04:03my entire life, right?
04:04I mean, it was just really, really fun.
04:07And a real fun Easter egg detail that I asked for that Val did on my costume.
04:13The character that I play in Felicia Day's series, The Guild, is Fox.
04:17He's the leader of their rival guild.
04:19Felicia and I wrote a comic book together about him.
04:22And on the cover, there's this really cool artwork that is Fox in a wizard's robe with all these glowing
04:30runes on it.
04:31So Val said, do you have any requests for your costume?
04:33And I said, if you could put some runes down the sides of the cloak, that would be really cool.
04:38And she said, yeah, we know a 3D printing guy who prints on fabric.
04:41So I got it.
04:42So when I saw that, I was just like, there's this great moment in Almost Famous where Lester Bang says
04:49to the kid,
04:50oh, no, they made you feel cool, and you're not cool.
04:54So you're trapped.
04:55And they made me feel cool, and I'm not cool.
04:58And I was like, this is an entirely fine place to be trapped.
05:01That's so funny.
05:02Thank you so much.
05:04It was everything I ever dreamed of and more.
05:06Can I give you a hug?
05:07So nice to meet you.
05:09Thank you so much for being here.
05:10Yes.
05:11In episode one.
