President Donald Trump said negotiations over reopening the Strait of Hormuz are still underway, stressing that no final agreement has been reached despite signs of progress. Speaking during an Oval Office event, Trump was asked whether a deal had been finalized. He replied, "Well, I don't want to say it has been. It's sort of open right now."

Trump explained that the U.S. Navy continues enforcing the blockade around Iran, while warning that security risks remain. Referring to possible threats in the strategic waterway, he said, "They can always shoot something. They always have something or drop a mine. And if you have one mine sitting out there, you sort of mess things up because people don't want to take their billion-dollar boats and accidentally get hit by a mine."

Even with those concerns, Trump expressed optimism about the ongoing talks, saying, "I think we're doing very well. I'm involved in the negotiation. I think we're doing fine. It could be. It could be soon." Later, when asked for another update before leaving the White House, he briefly told reporters, "Moving along good." His remarks suggest negotiations remain active, with hopes that an agreement could be reached soon.
