00:15basketball, and ultimate frisbee. The report says Jalen has won multiple girls' track events this
00:20year, including league titles in the 200 and 400-meter races. The co-founder of a women's
00:24advocacy group called the Independent Council on Women's Sports released a statement that says,
00:29in part, quote, the Liu family represents two opposing forces, the pinnacle of excellence
00:33in female sports, and at the same time, a profound threat to the integrity of those sports. The issue
00:38has become a major political flashpoint nationwide, with the Trump administration pushing for
00:43restrictions on transgender athletes competing in women and girls' sports, while a number of states,
00:48including California, continue to allow such participation under their current rules.
