00:04That's for Thursday the 6th of August. Starting off with a synoptic map, we can
00:08see a low pressure system and trough moving away from the country.
00:11Those will bring the bulk of showers and cold air away with it, but showers will
00:14develop through the day as another trough approaches. Behind that, a ridge of
00:18high pressure building across eastern and central parts of the country
00:21that will lead to a mostly settled day, but a frosty start all the way
00:24up into southern parts of Queensland. Over in Western Australia, showers across
00:28the south moving down towards the coast through the day.
00:30That's ahead of a cold front and trough approaching the southwest.
00:33Showers and isolated thunderstorms will build towards the evening
00:36and then sweep across the southwest land division during Friday.
00:39A couple showers also skirting along the eastern Queensland coast,
00:42but the rest of Australia is looking mostly dry.
00:45Now step by step look, starting off with Queensland, a frosty start inland
00:48and patchy fog in the east, but otherwise looking like a dry day.
00:52We could see a few light showers across exposed coastal areas making their way up
00:56towards the tropical north, but not expecting any significant falls in that.
00:59Otherwise, with a bit of high cloud, temperatures remaining close to average
01:02for this time of year. For Brisbane, partly cloudy, top of 24 degrees,
01:06dry and sunny up in Cairns with a maximum of 27.
01:09Now to New South Wales, we'll see some patchy fog and frost through inland areas
01:13and it will be a mostly sunny day to follow along the coast and also in the north of the
01:17state.
01:17A bit of cloud across southern parts of the state though, with some isolated showers
01:20across the southwestern slopes, but we're not expecting any alpine snow at all.
01:24Otherwise, looking at temperatures close to average for this time of year.
01:28Sydney, a sunny day with light winds, maximum of 18 degrees,
01:31frosty in Canberra to start and then warming up to a partly cloudy top of 14 degrees.
01:35Now to Victoria, we'll see patchy fog and frost north of the divide to start with.
01:40That will clear to a partly cloudy day, but under cloud, we could see a few light showers,
01:44mostly about the northeast of the state and then into the evening as that trough approaches,
01:48showers building across the west and also through the southwest,
01:51but generally looking at falls of less than about two millimeters or so.
01:55Otherwise, temperatures looking cool to mild for this time of year.
01:57Melbourne, partly cloudy, slight chance of a shower into the evening with a top of 15 degrees.
02:02Partly cloudy, but mostly dry up in Mildura with a maximum of 18.
02:06Now to Tasmania, with clear skies overnight, we will see patchy fog and also frost
02:10that will clear to a mostly dry day.
02:13But showers will build from the west as that trough approaches, reaching the coast into the afternoon,
02:17and then moving on to the north coast as we head into the evening.
02:20We could see up to 10 millimeters or so with higher isolated falls around elevated areas,
02:25but it will be a mostly dry day along the east coast.
02:27So for Hobart, partly cloudy, but we could see a slight chance of a light shower into the evening,
02:31top of 15 degrees and 14s across the board for northern parts of Tasmania.
02:36Now across to South Australia, we will see some patchy fog along the coast in the morning,
02:40then showers will move from the Eyre Peninsula and down towards the southeast of the state through the day.
02:45We could see up to about 5 millimeters or so, but they'll mostly clear away into the evening.
02:49The temperatures will be a little bit cooler though, with behind that trough,
02:52they'll swing around a bit more colder south-westly.
02:54So Adelaide, 17 degrees, slight chance of a shower or two,
02:57but it will be mostly dry in the north of the state, reaching up into the mid-20s.
03:02Now to Western Australia, we will see some showers across the goldfields.
03:06They'll move down towards the Esperance coast through the day.
03:08Quite patchy totals overall, but we could see up to about 10 millimeters through some areas.
03:12And then into the afternoon, showers build across the southwest capes.
03:15Head of that trough and cold front, we will see those showers building,
03:18as well as isolated thunderstorms.
03:20But they will reach Perth closer towards midnight and more likely into Friday.
03:24But we could see just some moderate falls along parts of the Albany coast.
03:28Further north, it is remaining cloudy across northwestern parts of the state.
03:31Patchy showers are possible across parts of the Gascoigne.
03:34Otherwise, with those north-easterly winds, temperatures a little bit on the milder side.
03:38So Perth, possible late shower, top of 20 degrees.
03:41Otherwise reaching the high 20s to low 30s across the Pilbara.
03:44Finally, across northern Australia, not much change compared to the last few days.
03:48We could see a few very light showers touching across the Tiwi Islands.
03:51Otherwise, with dry east to south-easterly winds, we are looking at a sunny day,
03:55but with high fire danger across parts of the Darwin area.
03:58So 32 degrees in Darwin with sunny conditions, reaching the low 30s across into the Kimberley.
