00:00Hello from the Bureau with your national weather forecast for Monday the 28th of

00:03October. Looking at conditions as we head into Tuesday. The main weather stories

00:08are showers and storms across eastern parts of Australia, but over Western

00:11Australia the heat is really starting to ramp up. So let's first start off with a

00:15look at the synoptic map, and for Monday evening we can see showers and storms

00:19for eastern parts of New South Wales and Queensland. There is a possibility of

00:22severe thunderstorms, particularly about western Sydney and the Hunter, and

00:26through southern Queensland. So heading into Monday night, do keep an eye on the

00:29forecast and warnings. Across the south of the country though, this high-pressure

00:33system is pushing in a little bit of cloud and showers across the southeast,

00:36but elsewhere mostly clear, with just a few showers across northern parts of the

00:40country. On Tuesday, the bulk of those showers and storms will push offshore,

00:45but with this slow-moving surface trough there, we will see showers and storms

00:49redeveloping across northeastern parts of New South Wales and Queensland. This

00:52high-pressure system will gradually start to move towards the east, and

00:55temperatures will start to rise, especially across Tasmania and Victoria.

00:58Otherwise, warm and hot for much of the rest of the country, with elevated fire

01:02dangers. In Western Australia, this heat trough is generating very hot and

01:07unsettled conditions, with the possibility of thunderstorms across

01:10interior parts, but will be a little bit cooler along the coast with some

01:13southerly breezes coming through. Let's take a state-by-state look now, and

01:16starting off in Queensland. On Tuesday morning, there is a possibility of fog

01:20and mist about the southeast, but then showers will redevelop across much of the

01:23coast, including for Brisbane with a top of 29 degrees. The heaviest falls will be

01:27across the northeastern parts of the state, including for Cairns, and will be

01:31hot and mostly dry for inland parts. In New South Wales, there's a chance of fog

01:36about the northern Tablelands, but then showers along the coast, gradually

01:39becoming more isolated through the day. We'll be a little bit cooler along the

01:42coast with those southerly winds, 23 degrees in Sydney, with a possible shower,

01:46but warmer inland, 25 in Canberra, and reaching into the low 30s for

01:50northwestern parts of the state. In Victoria, we will see a little bit of

01:54cloud and a few isolated coastal showers in the south, slightly cooler in

01:57Melbourne, 19 degrees, but north of the Divide we are expecting warmer conditions,

02:0128 in Mildura, with high fire dangers expected in the Mallee. In Tasmania, the

02:06possibility of morning fog and frost through inland parts, but it will warm up to

02:10quite a mild to warm day, especially across the north, 24 degrees in Launceston,

02:13slightly cooler at Hobart, 20 degrees, and just a few showers across western parts

02:18of the state. In South Australia, the possibility of morning fog about the

02:22southeast, but it will clear to a warm and mostly sunny day across the state,

02:2626 degrees Adelaide, warmer across the north. In Western Australia, heat is

02:31really starting to build, especially through the Wheatbelt, with temperatures

02:34climbing 8 to 14 degrees above average. In Perth though, a warm day, 32 degrees, but

02:39the southerly winds will keep it a little bit cooler along the coast, and

02:42there is a chance of hit-and-miss thunderstorms through inland parts, but

02:45not expecting too much in the way of rainfall, and we are also expecting to

02:48see high fire dangers through some areas. Finally, across northern Australia, heat

02:53wave conditions continue for the Kimberley and Top End, with very warm

02:56temperatures reaching the high 30s to low 40s. There is also extreme fire

03:00danger expected for the Barclay District. A few coastal showers and storms, not

03:04much in the way of rainfall totals, but it will be very hot and muggy, 36 degrees
