00:16We are in talks with the Iranians, and I think there is a chance we may have a deal today
00:21or tomorrow
00:22to open the Strait and move towards a more normalized position in this conflict.
00:31Besson says any agreement would restore free passage for commercial shipping
00:34without allowing Iran to charge tolls or fees on vessels moving through the Strait.
00:38But, and stop me if you've heard this one before, there's still a major sticking point.
00:43Iran continues to insist it's not negotiating directly with the United States,
00:47saying all of its talks are taking place through Oman,
00:49and warning that any agreement would only last if what it calls U.S. aggression comes to an end.
00:54The latest diplomatic push comes after President Trump said he called off a major military strike over the weekend
00:59in order to give negotiations one final chance.
