00:00:08everything is working well but thank you for joining me i already see people in the uh
00:00:13i already see people in the chat i just gotta make sure let me turn the volume down here
00:00:18that uh it's coming through and once it does we'll get going give me just a second i just
00:00:23ran downstairs to get some water all right we are live we are good to go i'm just gonna mute
00:00:34that
00:00:35and uh what's going on everybody i'm gonna say hey everyone uh we are on our third week of our
00:00:47live
00:00:47stream uh i don't know what you want to call it a bonanza i don't know um but super excited
00:00:55to be
00:00:55doing these live streams i've been doing these for the past three weeks we started the beginning of
00:00:59july this is our i want to say it's our third one but i plan on doing a weekly live
00:01:04stream for
00:01:05potentially the next several months or maybe even the rest of the year um i've had a lot of people
00:01:10reach out saying they really appreciate the live streams uh since i started doing them and so i'm
00:01:15happy to hear that and i want to keep doing that so uh i will keep doing that as long
00:01:20as i possibly
00:01:21can i'm i really enjoy it uh but i have my screen right down here so you might see me
00:01:26looking down
00:01:26here for a little bit but basically what these live streams are are purely for you guys they are here
00:01:32for you guys to ask questions they are here for you uh to just hang out and at the very
00:01:37end i will be
00:01:39doing a giveaway um i've been doing these giveaways oh what's going on elijah i see elijah i see
00:01:44in here he's one of my mods i appreciate it um but uh i will be doing a giveaway of
00:01:51free courses
00:01:51on analystboulder.com i've given away like 10 or 15 free uh courses so far um and so i just
00:02:00like
00:02:00doing that just as a thank you for you know supporting the channel and for being here and
00:02:04it's just something fun to do um but i'm gonna end right at 10 o'clock uh today or really
00:02:12close
00:02:12to 10 o'clock so um let's get going i'm gonna start answering some questions i'm gonna start at the
00:02:19very top because you know we're just started we we don't have a ton of questions yet but go ahead
00:02:23and
00:02:23put your questions in the chat um if you have any if you don't just hang out and it'll be
00:02:28a good time
00:02:28um so uh this is a question from aishat badanga it said where can one do a virtual internship for
00:02:37data analysis i don't know i i don't know much about internships other than from what people have
00:02:42told me uh you know just through talking to me or getting you know giving me some information they're
00:02:49like hey i got an internship from my college or i got an internship from my buddy who knew somebody
00:02:54um but i don't know personally how to get a lot of internships i know there are places online like
00:02:59websites where you can look for internships um but again that's not really my expertise i don't have
00:03:04a lot of knowledge in that area um let's see we got nick hill in here ani saeed khalid alamua
00:03:13that's a
00:03:14cool name uh jaskarit very cool very cool hello hello let's see oh i hate when it skips down like
00:03:25that that's the worst um echoes of justice cool name uh should learn our language if i already know
00:03:32python you don't have to um it really depends on the company right so when i was working on a
00:03:38data
00:03:38science team i learned python i liked python but then uh once i got on that team we started using
00:03:45r they all used r and i didn't know r at all and so i just kind of picked it
00:03:51up as i went i learned as
00:03:53i you know as i was more on the team and as i started working with them more um i
00:03:58learned r that's
00:03:59how i learned it and i just learned out of necessity not because i necessarily would have learned it
00:04:03otherwise excuse me so i would just say that um if you have an inclination if you really want to
00:04:12learn art learn it if not it's not a it's it's not like the most important thing in the world
00:04:17to learn
00:04:18um if you're you know getting started but if you're already a data analyst and you just want to learn
00:04:24it
00:04:24go for it uh i can't pronounce this name i'm going to try my best uh nox uh hona hi
00:04:32alex i'm from
00:04:33south africa what's going on thanks for joining me what time is it what time is it where everybody
00:04:37is it's nine o'clock in the morning my time but i'm aware that that is not uh there's these
00:04:42crazy
00:04:43things called time zones and like other parts of the world it's not 9 a.m it's the weirdest thing
00:04:47i
00:04:47just learned i'm just kidding i knew that um but i know it's like midnight some places and 3 a
00:04:53.m some
00:04:53places so uh let me know what time it is where you guys are um gangadhar pavan hi i have
00:05:02six years
00:05:02linux admin experience not interested in devops as it's overwhelming is it better to switch to data
00:05:07engineer or analyst roles i'm not interested in coding oh that's a problem uh if you're not
00:05:14interested in coding at all data engineering is 100 gone don't do that data analysis is going to be
00:05:21you're going to have coding as well for most data analyst roles um that's a tough one if you don't
00:05:27like
00:05:27coding i don't know i don't know what the solution is to that um maybe like a project manager i'm
00:05:36sure
00:05:36you've worked with project managers maybe you could get into the project manager space i don't know
00:05:43um mata mata ra youtube yt i am learning your data analyst boot camp i complete it and then i'll
00:05:50get a job
00:05:50or i have to learn more um honestly and this is purely from anecdotal stories i've heard a lot of
00:05:57people get jobs only having the experience and the resume and the projects that i've done in the
00:06:02boot camp and that's completely free um i've people have told me i didn't pay for anything i didn't take
00:06:08anything yours was what i took and i got a job and so you don't have to anything you learn
00:06:13above that
00:06:13is great um it's just extra right but no you don't have to but i do recommend it um because
00:06:20once you
00:06:20finish it and you just don't learn anything else then that you know isn't really a good thing elijah
00:06:26butler never miss an alex live stream even though i got a dip in a minute all right well hey
00:06:31listen i
00:06:31appreciate you coming anyways this is a thought that counts it really is um geo history explorers hi
00:06:38happy to see i'm happy to see you too let me see um
00:06:45this is a good question it's from vayan tesh hello alex i'm from india doing your complete
00:06:52data analyst boot camp i'm a pharma background student and want data analysts as careers that
00:06:57is a good decision and it's funny because pharmaceuticals is actually a really big area
00:07:03for data people uh really huge and i've uh worked with a lot of previous people who were nurses and
00:07:10doctors and uh pharmacists and um you know all sorts of jobs who wanted to get into the data side
00:07:16of
00:07:16things uh and they all had a lot of success because that experience is really valuable now it says you're
00:07:24still a student so uh you know you probably don't have a ton of experience but if you have some
00:07:31internship experience or something like that it's always good but people there there is a lot of
00:07:36companies that value pharmaceutical background and knowledge and experience um so it could be a very
00:07:42good career path just in the in the healthcare world uh zubair akbal i'm an accounting student
00:07:50what areas of data analytics should i focus on as of now um so accounting is of course a lot
00:07:58of
00:07:58numbers um accounting has you know several you should be taking some statistics courses a lot
00:08:03of mathematics courses but then you know there's courses i don't really i just don't know i didn't
00:08:09do accounting so i'm not an accountant although i know several accountants my sister-in-law uh is in
00:08:14that world and so um you know i would say that learning a lot of the because you're going to
00:08:20learn a lot
00:08:21of the statistical side you probably aren't going to learn a ton of databases besides things like
00:08:24excel um i don't know what other accounting software that they might have you use third
00:08:30party software but understanding databases really well um understanding so that would be like like a
00:08:35sql database or in the cloud with azure or um aws it just depends i it's actually now that i'm
00:08:44talking
00:08:45through it out loud um there is i mean now you see okay give me a sec what kind of
00:08:52data analytics
00:08:52should i focus on as of now okay that was different than i thought um data analytics is very broad
00:08:58there
00:08:59is a you're going to use data with accounting so i don't really know what kind of data analytics
00:09:03you're referring to um maybe it's just ever someone in the chat help help zubair out because
00:09:08maybe i'm not understanding the question i thought i was at the beginning and i was not
00:09:13um all right mohammed fahim sir what do you do this is a great question um nobody ever asked about
00:09:24me
00:09:24thank you mohammed finally um what do i do so uh i used to be a data analyst i was
00:09:33a data analyst for
00:09:33about seven or eight years i became i started as a uh data collection specialist and analyst at a
00:09:40non-profit worked my way up i was a data analyst for many years and then i became an analytics
00:09:43manager
00:09:44and then i started consulting on the side as my youtube started picking up early 2021 um in 2021 i
00:09:51started doing some small consulting on the side the consulting really took over started working with
00:09:54really big companies um i started working with um you know small startups in silicon valley because my
00:10:03youtube channel was starting to get bigger and so i quit my job started doing consulting and youtube
00:10:09for the most part and then i started a an edtech platform called analystbuilder.com which i now run
00:10:14we have a lot of people on that platform learning and it goes a lot more in depth than my
00:10:20youtube stuff
00:10:21and so that's what i do now i do consulting i do youtube and i run my edtech platform but
00:10:26it's it's a
00:10:27lot of work i'll tell you what goodness gracious
00:10:34let me see
00:10:39i'm just reading through questions
00:10:43sean muga
00:10:46that's a cool name i just can't pronounce it i try my best um hi your recent shorts were so
00:10:51nice and
00:10:52eye-opening regarding before jumping to power bi there's so much to do with excel um
00:10:58you know i'm really glad you said that i needed to hear that feedback because i haven't i did shorts
00:11:03and like short form content a little bit like a year or two ago and i i never really got
00:11:08into it
00:11:08but i've had people say i should do it they're like hey i really liked it and so it's good
00:11:13to hear
00:11:13that feedback i'm going to be doing a lot more of those because um i have a lot of things
00:11:18in my head
00:11:19that i want to say and sometimes i get it out better when i'm talking about it and so i'm
00:11:24glad that that
00:11:25is helpful but yeah excel is like a it's a dark hole like you can learn so much you can
00:11:30just go
00:11:30down forever um down that rabbit hole um it has a lot of functionality that people do not even know
00:11:35about it's wild um let's see let's see let's see i had scrolled down sorry i may have i hope
00:11:43i didn't
00:11:43skip any matthew matthew's in the house uh thank you for joining matthew you didn't have to do that
00:11:50that matthew's already on it he's like don't spam he's being kind about it thank you i appreciate
00:11:55give him a little warning um let's see
00:12:02marina said why did you start with visualization before cleaning your data in the analyst builder
00:12:07portfolio project um i don't know what project you're referring to because i don't know if i've
00:12:15done that maybe it was just on like the excel or something like that um where there wasn't any data
00:12:20cleaning needed but if you go through the the data analyst boot camp i have like five or six videos
00:12:26on data cleaning um and data transformation and exploratory data analysis before you get to
00:12:33visualizations if i did the data visualization before it probably just didn't need it or i wasn't
00:12:38trying to teach that in that lesson but um in the real world you're always going to be doing all
00:12:4399
00:12:44percent of time you're going to date clean your data uh structure your data change in the databases
00:12:48change the data types yada yada yada before you actually visualize your data in most cases
00:12:53in most cases connor said hi from nepal love your content uh through your boot camp i can learn
00:13:00sequel and other skills awesome love that ow bart said hello from france uh man france i went to
00:13:07france once france was cool uh i learned a little bit of french before i went i think the only
00:13:13one i
00:13:13remember is uh uh forgive my french uh it's like uh which is like the check the check please when
00:13:23i
00:13:23go out to eat that's the only thing i remember all these years later but i learned a lot more
00:13:26before i
00:13:27went because i wanted to be able to be like somewhat very basic conversational um but you know that was
00:13:33like a long time ago so i've forgotten all of it but i think that's it i just said that
00:13:39so many times
00:13:39because we got to eat a lot um and so i just forgot oh right 3 p.m okay so
00:13:46earlier i'd asked people what
00:13:48time it was there it's 2 p.m in nigeria 6 30 p.m in india 3 p.m uh
00:13:53for albart one o'clock for liberia
00:13:566 p.m uzbekistan very cool 6 30 p.m 3 p.m in france very cool okay so it's
00:14:03like the afternoon
00:14:03it's the morning here um four o'clock okay so yeah it's like the after seven o'clock it's the
00:14:09afternoon
00:14:09in most places that people are watching so that's that's pretty neat um and then of course
00:14:17taki derek he's from wisconsin uh so that's probably an hour behind so it's gonna be like uh eight o
00:14:24'clock
00:14:24man that's early who gave a donation you don't have to matthew come on now matthew i appreciate it i
00:14:31didn't i don't know why i wasn't sure who that was from but it says burger time uh i i
00:14:40absolutely appreciate it hey inflation man inflation's hitting us hard i can't get those
00:14:45five dollars i got the six dollar biggie bag give me one second someone's texting me i gotta make
00:14:50sure it's not my oh okay i just had to make sure it wasn't my wife or somebody uh but
00:14:56uh i i do
00:14:57appreciate you don't have to do that but i do appreciate it always makes me laugh i don't know
00:15:02why i didn't see that coming um nani said love from bangladesh um meet antia says i was learning
00:15:11sql but no way to practice or improve my skills one of the easiest ways is just to get a
00:15:15data set
00:15:16off of like kaggle or excuse me google data set search or data.gov and put it into a database
00:15:22my sql microsoft sql server postgreSQL whichever one and query the data and try new things and ask
00:15:28questions and then try to answer those questions with the data um another place that you can
00:15:32practice another place that you can practice is and this is there's a free part of it is
00:15:38analystbuilder.com where you can practice sql questions um and um i'm gonna make a post on
00:15:44linkedin there's this one question that every almost everybody is missing almost every single
00:15:50person is missing and then they complain and say it's wrong but it's not wrong they're wrong and
00:15:54i'm gonna post that on linkedin um and twitter slash x um right after this live stream because
00:16:00i just think it's so funny but people keep messing this question up it's called um company wide
00:16:04increase so if you go on analyst builder try the company wide increase question in sql um it's
00:16:12simple but most people are messing it up i was giving a donation here you guys don't have to donate
00:16:17listen i am not here to to take donations oh i will read your question if you donate though because
00:16:23mostly i don't i feel bad because i don't want you to spend money and then not get your question
00:16:27answered but it says this is from sunil shetty completed a data analytics course after bcom which
00:16:33is i think business communication i know excel sql tableau and power bi as a fresher how do i land
00:16:38my
00:16:39first job in this field uh i'm gonna heart that real quick that's a good question so a lot of
00:16:44people
00:16:44are in similar uh similar instances they have some type of degree maybe it's related to data analytics
00:16:51maybe it's not but they're right out of college or university and they want to get a job naturally
00:16:57the biggest thing that i can recommend um and not every college university has this but so many do
00:17:04where they have career centers where they are designed to help you get a job right colleges want
00:17:11to look good they want to boost their numbers and make themselves look good and so what they do is
00:17:15they
00:17:15they connect with a lot of businesses or alumni who used to go to their school and they will try
00:17:21to
00:17:22get people from their school to go and work for them and it shows that they can place people in
00:17:26jobs
00:17:26and so a lot of companies do have that or a lot of universities do have that so i recommend
00:17:32looking
00:17:33at that the second thing is you know start reaching out to you know even alumni who went to your
00:17:39school
00:17:39start looking them up on linkedin and finding them and reaching out saying hey i'm looking for
00:17:42you know positions like this another just big thing you have to do is just apply to jobs and that's
00:17:48the
00:17:48that's the uh unfortunate truth is applying to jobs and um you know reaching out to recruiters
00:17:55and doing that whole process alongside that uh that is what i recommend so but you kind of have an
00:18:03maybe not an advantage but you have a different avenue that you can take because you are in or out
00:18:10of college
00:18:12um ali sani baba tunday i really appreciate your boot camp playlists i'm really glad to hear that
00:18:20thank you very much
00:18:24yes matthew is 100 correct guys don't spam it's actually not like 10 minutes it's like 30 seconds
00:18:31so i'll say something and then i'm looking down here and it's like 30 second delay so if i don't
00:18:36see your
00:18:37question immediately and i'm not even at the bottom if i don't see your question it's because
00:18:40i just haven't gotten to it but if you spam matthew and taki are going to be or derek i
00:18:44mean his name's
00:18:44taki in the thing but they are going to be on you they will they will blast you into oblivion
00:18:49you'll
00:18:50never be able to ask a question again it's not me all right blame matthew and uh derek
00:18:57um let's see so nishanth ready said python sql tableau excel are those good enough to land an
00:19:05entry-level job as a data analyst for the most part yes um things have changed i'm sorry i'm
00:19:11watching myself i don't know what this is um if it's on my face doing that thing where it isn't
00:19:18like perfectly clear or not um but to answer your question i got my first job this is back in
00:19:262017
00:19:26of course my first job just knowing sql and excel my second job was in like 2020 or 2019 um
00:19:33and that
00:19:34was with sql and excel again uh with a little bit of like tableau on my resume but not much
00:19:40else um
00:19:41my manager job i needed to know sql excel tableau or mostly power bi is what we use we were
00:19:48microsoft
00:19:48and then i need to know azure very well and that was back in like 20 uh 2021 ish time
00:19:55frame uh
00:19:56after that i think the skills have somewhat still remain the same but i do highly recommend knowing
00:20:06some type of cloud platform azure or AWS you can learn gcp google cloud platform if you'd like
00:20:12i personally don't like it i've said this before i'll say it again i'll shout out the rooftops i don't
00:20:17like gcp it's not my favorite i don't like it so you can learn if you want in some companies
00:20:22use it
00:20:23some as in a lot but not as many as AWS router but you can those skills are like the
00:20:30fundamentals
00:20:30and you have to know getting into this when you look at job descriptions you're going to have weird
00:20:36third-party software you've never heard of but the fundamentals are in all the fundamentals of
00:20:42SQL excel tableau python uh power bi they're in all these tools so i've used a lot of third-party
00:20:50software a lot of third-party tools over my career a lot too many and every consulting client that i
00:20:56use
00:20:57all has some weird third-party client i've never or software i've never used but when i get in there
00:21:02i'm like oh this is like you know power bi this is like this this is like this and i
00:21:09pick it up very
00:21:09quickly and that's what i'm trying to i try to teach people is you just need to know the basics
00:21:15really
00:21:15well love from pakistan vankata thank you i appreciate love from the united states um let's see let's see
00:21:24let's see i can't met wally are you messing with me met wally said uh that my cam is off
00:21:34i honestly i
00:21:35don't know if i can believe you oh maybe you meant the the zoom or like the focus was off
00:21:40i listen met
00:21:42wally has been a trusted advisor in previous uh in previous conversations uh live streams so i'm
00:21:52trust i'm gonna trust you but we'll see um going through questions i just gotta there's so many
00:22:01questions i sometimes i gotta go through them a little bit
00:22:12you got a laptop do i recommend the data analytics journey what's great about data analytics is it's
00:22:17not crazy heavy on compute unless you're using really large data sources or um you know you just
00:22:26have a ton of data you're processing a lot of things so most of the time uh any new computer
00:22:31should have any everything you need even i mean 16 gigabytes of ram is highly recommended but even
00:22:38eight gigabytes you can get for practicing and learning 100 so even things like chromebooks i've heard
00:22:44people have used on a budget um to learn from but uh you know it just just depends on uh
00:22:53your setup
00:22:54what your budget is but honestly uh if you have a yeah i was gonna say uh if you have
00:23:02a higher budget
00:23:03any macbook is going to be perfectly fine um any almost any new hp or lenovo um or asus or
00:23:12any of
00:23:13these new laptops should be perfectly fine um you can find one easily for under 500 dollars easily
00:23:20even less 200 bucks 300 bucks they're perfectly decent ones um let's see
00:23:30henneth harris what do you think about programs like wgu uh which is like western western governor's
00:23:36university i've seen them online many people have asked me about it i've looked into it before
00:23:39for teaching data analytics in your opinion is it a yay or nay all right this is a funny story
00:23:44uh
00:23:45kenneth this is a funny story back in 2019 2020 my company uh had this program where you could get
00:23:56an education online for free uh they would pay for your education up to a certain amount it was like
00:24:00it was a good amount though so any online college i could have done and got my master's degree
00:24:06and so i really considered it um i was going i was uh data analyst at the time i'd like
00:24:11three or four
00:24:12years of experience i wanted to do better so i was looking at things like um georgia tech's online
00:24:17analysts uh data analyst program um western governor's university there was another one i can't remember
00:24:23the name of but they were like more affordable online education uh things in my opinion they're
00:24:29actually not bad um for the price you know you have to be very self-motivated though very self-motivated
00:24:36i'm sorry my phone is blowing up my phone is blowing up right now sorry um so i i actually
00:24:47don't think
00:24:47they're terrible for the price um if you have a company that's going to pay for it why not go
00:24:52for it if
00:24:53it's on your own dime um you know make sure you're very self-motivated and you can do it and
00:24:58do all
00:24:58everything that you need but i'm going to turn this over my phone is distracting me right now
00:25:03but i keep it up in case my wife texts me or something but it's just a bunch of group
00:25:07chats
00:25:07that are going off right now um and if you're in one of those group chats you're watching this one
00:25:12of
00:25:12my friends just stop texting i gotta focus uh but yeah they're not bad they're not bad so just look
00:25:18at reviews online um make sure they're they're good for what you're wanting to do
00:25:25but having to agree on your resume doesn't hurt it's never going to hurt you well i guess i can't
00:25:30say never 99.9 percent of time it's not going to hurt you madara yt what other profession i should
00:25:39choose other than data analyst i don't like coding i like things which are easy and to the point um
00:25:47and you want to work in tech so let's say you want to work in like tech or i i
00:25:53wouldn't be a
00:25:53data analyst if you don't like things that are easy most jobs are not super easy they take some
00:25:59effort um almost all jobs take some effort or time or or energy so i don't know what i would
00:26:04recommend
00:26:05um i don't know easy and to the point i don't know a lot of jobs that are easier to
00:26:11the point
00:26:11you could look into things like project managers um there's no coding you're still involved in tech
00:26:17i wouldn't say it's super easy but it's maybe easier than coding if you don't like coding um let's see
00:26:27nazmir gashi is basics a primary key and foreign key basics to learn better than sequel um hey listen
00:26:35the english isn't perfect but great work i i'm that i could totally understand what you're asking um
00:26:41um so when you're learning sequel a lot of when you're starting as a data analyst a lot of people
00:26:47just focus on um querying data but as you get further along in your career give me one sec
00:26:58give this clear glass today i've been using it but i don't have my usual large mug has more water
00:27:05in it
00:27:07but typically you are just learning how to query data as you get further along in your career
00:27:14knowing things like a little bit of even database architecture a little bit of data engineering a
00:27:23little bit of database developer type work which are things that i personally love um knowing these
00:27:30things is only going to boost you in your career and in fact in my opinion it takes you way
00:27:35farther
00:27:36as a data analyst because you know so much of how the whole process works not just your part of
00:27:40the
00:27:40pie right and so foreign keys and primary keys are very it's a great you know basic thing to learn
00:27:49but then you want to start go beyond that right go into really learning about data types and how they
00:27:56affect the data and then how they how you need to transform them during the data cleaning process
00:28:01so a little bit of data engineering work um look at how data is collected how is the data at
00:28:06sitting
00:28:06in an ehr system in some third-party software how are you collecting that data how does it get to
00:28:11you
00:28:12um these are things that you need to know as the farther along you get in your career if you
00:28:17really
00:28:17want to take your skills to the next level and say yeah absolutely learn that stuff 100 percent
00:28:24rishi gaming can you tell me how ai would disturb a data analyst job um so from a lot of
00:28:32what i've seen
00:28:33is data data analysis just in general definitely has some pieces and give me one second when i start
00:28:41talking i start burping and drinking water it's a it's a bad thing i but you know what if i'm
00:28:46gonna do
00:28:47live streams i just gotta do it um there are some repeatable things that have been automated for a
00:28:53long time um and this is not anything new so i'm just taking ai out of it for a second
00:28:58so ai can do
00:29:00other things but in general data analysts have had had a lot of things automated in their workflow for a
00:29:07long time um even to the point where things like tableau and power bi are not fully automated but you
00:29:14automate a lot of the stuff in there um it's pretty great so now let's talk about ai ai came
00:29:21onto the
00:29:21scene several years ago a lot of people have been using it it's really great for simple analysis um
00:29:27and for some companies that's going to be enough right so like let's just take my company analyst
00:29:34builder i don't need a full data analyst because one i'm i know how to do that stuff but two
00:29:40the data
00:29:41that i'm working with isn't that complex um necessarily and so for some of the basic stuff
00:29:48i'll just use ai and we have we use a company called superbase love superbase it stores a lot
00:29:53of our data and superbase has an ai integration and i can ask it basic questions and it'll give me
00:29:59basic answers but whenever i try to do anything too advanced and i and i try to pull in different
00:30:06tables it struggles it all every time and i'm a data analyst i know how to write these queries
00:30:13and so i'll mess with it for like 30 minutes trying to get it to write what i want it
00:30:17just can't do it
00:30:18it just doesn't understand it i'll give it really clear specific instruction it just doesn't
00:30:22so for writing queries and as you get more involved right now ai can't do that stuff it probably will
00:30:29a
00:30:29little bit in the future but you have to understand that there's a lot of nuance there's a lot of
00:30:33uh domain knowledge a lot of personal things that you know from talking to clients that the ai just
00:30:40isn't going to know and so i don't see ai removing data analysts anytime soon uh there's a lot more
00:30:48that goes into it than just writing queries or just writing code which ai is quite good at um not
00:30:54perfect but it's quite good and so in my opinion the need for data professionals data engineers data
00:31:00analysts data scientists uh machine learning engineers ai specialists are only going to grow
00:31:05over time and i think right now we're in this really weird space in the economy where uh companies
00:31:12are getting hit really hard because of tariffs in the u.s uh because of inflation because of high
00:31:20interest rates at least again in the u.s and companies are letting people go that's what happens in high
00:31:24inflation times if you go back and look at that big tech companies lay off people during high
00:31:30inflation times almost always they hire a lot during low and uh low interest and inflation times
00:31:35almost always so we're in my opinion a lot of this like layoffs and tough job market is not ai
00:31:43most of it is just the economy and when that picks back up and interest rates are low and people
00:31:49can spend a lot more money and they start doing a lot more hiring and starting more businesses
00:31:52data professionals are going to be hired a lot because a lot of people uh and i'm going off on
00:31:58this because i just i'm sorry i could have answered this short more short but uh i'm going off because
00:32:03this is just something i really uh have a strong opinion on i think that we're going to see a
00:32:09huge
00:32:09influx of data professionals because what's going to happen is is people are going to start companies
00:32:14who are software developers but they don't know the data side of things they're going to try to use ai
00:32:18but it's not going to give them what they want and then they're going to be like well i need
00:32:21someone who
00:32:21can do this i need a data professional whether they hire a data analyst data scientist data whatever
00:32:26for that job that is going to be a big increase and so i think we'll see a large increase
00:32:32um whenever
00:32:33things in the economy start looking better i don't know what that will be i don't anyways i just spent
00:32:38like a few minutes on that question um i'm going to keep going it's 9 30 at 9 50 in
00:32:4420 minutes i'm
00:32:45going to be doing some giveaways uh for analyst builder courses completely for free you have to have an
00:32:50analyst builder account so if you don't have one you have need to make one to be able to uh
00:32:56get the
00:32:56free course but again it's like a giveaway you have to be the first person to type it in there's
00:33:01several
00:33:01a lot of people here so you know i can't promise that uh everyone will get one
00:33:09let's see let's see let's see all right i'm reading through questions um this is from jackson
00:33:17of vork bow from ghana how do you stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in data analytics
00:33:24um i honestly i for me personally i get sent so much stuff almost every day from people
00:33:32all over that i stay pretty updated on it um i also follow a lot of really reputable accounts
00:33:39on linkedin and x and um you know mostly those two honestly those are really the only two social
00:33:46media platforms i i'm on a lot um and then i get sent tiktoks all the time i was like
00:33:50hey is this
00:33:50is this accurate is this true and i'm like sometimes a little bit maybe it depends um but
00:33:55i stay updated because a lot of people update me um i've made a lot of connections over the years
00:34:00i've met a lot of people um i'm friends with a lot of people in the data world and they
00:34:03send me a lot
00:34:04of things but just personally being on linkedin and being on x and seeing what people are posting
00:34:09about and clicking into it and learning about it it's a good way to stay updated
00:34:24uh someone just became a member of the ata superfan thank you jawaluck crn um so you don't have to
00:34:33do
00:34:33this but i have a i have a thing on youtube where if you want to just support me it's
00:34:37like two dollars
00:34:37a month or something like that you can do that um and so thank you for becoming a member um
00:34:42you become
00:34:43an ata superfan you get this little um star next to your name and the longer you are a member
00:34:47the star changes color and so thank you i really appreciate that
00:34:53let's see let's see let's see
00:34:58seca gamers says why when i write the promo code it requires payment method so if you guys don't know
00:35:04and i'm just gonna take a tiny tiny segue um alicebuilder.com is my learning platform to learn
00:35:10data analytics i think it's the genuinely one of the best in the world um you can get a month
00:35:15for
00:35:15free if you've never used analyst builder before you can create an account get a month for free you
00:35:19can probably take two courses for free um just as much thank you to you but at checkout you do
00:35:24have
00:35:25to enter your information because if you don't cancel your account then it charges you i can't change
00:35:30that that's through stripe um there are other systems that allow you not to do that but we don't
00:35:34have those integrations um we are only use stripe so if you want a free month free you can do
00:35:39that
00:35:39but after that month then you would be charged right for the subscription so you can just go in
00:35:45and cancel it but you do have to enter payment details and it also helps with fraud and all sorts
00:35:49of different things and spam and um there's a bunch of other reasons
00:35:57all right i don't believe and i'm just going to preface this i don't believe that certifications
00:36:05are necessary to get a job um that's for most places in the world there might be some where
00:36:11they are more necessary than others i do have certifications um through aws i do have one for
00:36:19power bi um that's because my job many years ago had that for free and i just took it i
00:36:26took
00:36:26advantage of it and i was like hey i'll take that certification why not i want to learn more um
00:36:30and
00:36:31so i learned i had a cert i have a certification for a data analytics power bi or maybe it
00:36:34was yeah
00:36:35i think it's data analytics power bi and then for aws they were really good learned a lot thought it
00:36:40was um hey talking answer the question this is a stripe issue how did tacky know that derrick how do
00:36:46you
00:36:46know that that's crazy he answered it before i did um so yeah that's oh geez it skipped down i
00:36:55was i was
00:36:58let me go back up i have a ton of questions um
00:37:04yeah matthew said gcp throwing up emoji i think that's about as good as it about as accurate as it's
00:37:10going to be um oh geez i lost my space and i lost my spot and there's so many questions
00:37:17down below i
00:37:18got to get to some of those anyways um will i ever teach machine learning no no i will not
00:37:23i haven't
00:37:24used it enough to where i'm like an expert in it um my data science team when you used r
00:37:28we used r
00:37:29for our machine learning um that's about as much as i know so no i'm not going to teach machine
00:37:33learning
00:37:34um but i know machine learning a little bit i'm i'm like decent but i'm not an expert i don't
00:37:40feel
00:37:41confident teaching it that was uh who asked that rohit bist thank you for the question
00:37:52let's keep i i'm just looking i'm just looking what coding uh this i can't i don't know the name
00:38:00i think it's in like um i don't know what language that is what coding language should i recommend to
00:38:05learn for dealing with data if i only had one option according to your opinion experience if you
00:38:10consider sequel a programming language that's what i would learn but if you're looking at like more
00:38:14traditional programming languages like python r scala um ruby on rails c c plus plus javascript i would
00:38:23learn python python python is the most used um is probably the most used one
00:38:33let's see
00:38:39uh baba lola solace another ai question i'll try to keep this one short though um what do you think
00:38:45about ai being able to do things analysts do like collect insights from data um how do you think
00:38:51someone should get ahead so that last part is a really good one one is ai is is quite good
00:38:58like
00:38:58i can feed a csv file into an ai system let's just take chat gpt and i can get some
00:39:04basic insights um
00:39:06but if i'm being completely honest with you there were already systems like that before ai that you
00:39:12could feed csv files into and it could help with that um and there were already before ai i'm just
00:39:18maybe i'm dating myself before ai there was natural language uh to sql like uh generators
00:39:26and so these aren't new i don't think ai has gone crazy beyond it except now it gives like
00:39:32some a little bit more detailed information data analysts typically don't work in that space of the the
00:39:40i don't want to say generic because it's not generic it's still fairly decent data analysts have a lot
00:39:46more nuance and data isn't always so simple and so for example i was working on an actual project
00:39:54um i used one of my api keys because it was more sensitive data and i tried to use ai
00:40:00on this data
00:40:00set and it was giving me some okay stuff but i was like i know that there's a lot more
00:40:05to this so i
00:40:06tried to prompt it um it was a larger data set i tried to prompt it try to get it
00:40:10to understand
00:40:11and it just can't fully understand or or get what i'm trying to do so then i had to write
00:40:17most of it
00:40:18i would say it helped me with like 30 of the job um and and so real data analysts work
00:40:24not just
00:40:26simple data sets like kaggle real stuff um ai does have some trouble with it um to get ahead
00:40:33honestly is to practice with it try it out get into um use different systems use gemini anthropic
00:40:40um use chat gpt use copilot try these different systems out try querying having it write code
00:40:48do more complex things the basics it'll do quite well um but as it gets more complex you'll see
00:40:53where you're going to shine and where your expertise really stands out
00:41:01let's see
00:41:07just looking through questions there's a lot going through them
00:41:20excuse me i'm just reading through questions give me a second everybody
00:41:26we got 13 minutes before i do the giveaway uh thank you for
00:41:32how do you participate in the giveaway all you have to do
00:41:35is have an analyst builder account because i'm giving away my analyst builder courses
00:41:39so if you go to analyst builder.com there should be a link somewhere in the description if you go
00:41:42to
00:41:42analyst builder.com and you create an account i will then tell you how to participate in it that's
00:41:47the only right thing you have to do
00:41:57oh jeez it skipped down i was reading through questions it skipped down there's just a lot of
00:42:01questions that have already been asked i've already answered um so i'm not answering them
00:42:05multiple times in the stream
00:42:11is it possible so this is from jawalock crn one of my newest members thank you i appreciate it
00:42:16is it possible to land a job as a data analyst or business analyst or any analyst role without an
00:42:22analytics or master's degree absolutely um and this isn't just something that is like from many
00:42:30many years ago i know people today who landed a job like a month ago who reached out and was
00:42:36like
00:42:36hey i took your free data analyst boot camp i was a worker at chick-fil-a that was a
00:42:42real one
00:42:42i was a worker at chick-fil-a i was right out of high school i've been working there for
00:42:47two years
00:42:48and um i took your free data analyst boot camp i know someone uh or i met someone who did
00:42:53it i got
00:42:54introduced they were asking about these skills i knew those skills because you i got the job those
00:42:59are like real use cases those are real stories anecdotal stories you don't have to have a degree
00:43:04but it is helpful right it does help get through a lot of especially if you don't know anybody
00:43:10you're just applying online you're trying to get with recruiters they do look for degrees um
00:43:14uh these automatic systems that process your resume sometimes they filter on degrees if you don't have
00:43:21a degree it's going to be harder for you 100 percent
00:43:26it is very possible and i hear stories like that often people reach out to me saying hey i got
00:43:32a job
00:43:32thank you so much um here's my story and i love hearing those stories they make me happy every time
00:43:37so i want you to be that story
00:43:41um tips on first project keep it simple do something guided i have tons of free guided
00:43:47projects on my youtube channel tons like probably like 10 plus uh at least i don't even know
00:43:53but just do something guided understand the basics then apply that to your own data set get
00:43:58some data create some data whatever you want to do and try to do it to your own data set
00:44:02it's much
00:44:03harder when it's not guided and that's how you grow
00:44:10sylvania lee hi alex what are additional skills as a data analyst should have compared to the job
00:44:15market two years ago so two years ago what did the job descriptions and job uh requirements look like
00:44:22compared to today they're not that different um data analytics as a whole hasn't changed a ton
00:44:30in the past two years um ai of course has become a big thing you have to know how to
00:44:36use it or or
00:44:37you know um work with it if you want to call it that which i highly recommend everybody do i
00:44:43don't
00:44:43think you should not learn ai i've never recommended that highly recommend ai uh learning ai but um
00:44:51two years ago i think you know i'm gonna i'm gonna skip back to 2020 action i'm gonna go back
00:44:56a little
00:44:56further because i i think that's actually a more a bigger leap back in 2020 it was a big hiring
00:45:04spree
00:45:04still um during covid and um if you knew a lot of the basics sequel excel tableau power bi python
00:45:13if you knew those you could definitely land a job five years later the market just the economy has
00:45:18changed a lot i think if you want to make yourself competitive i highly recommend learning a uh
00:45:25a cloud platform reason being is most new companies most smaller companies now are moving to on cloud
00:45:34um systems instead of on-premise systems um there actually is this huge i i saw this uh article as
00:45:41well about this this change though where teams within companies are now going to on-prem because they
00:45:47don't trust the cloud as much and it's cheaper in the long term to buy your own uh hardware but
00:45:53that's
00:45:54a whole different conversation i could make a video on that because i really like that conversation my
00:45:58first job had on-prem anyways not the point that was off topic um the point is is i would
00:46:05learn the
00:46:05cloud i have a free series on how to learn azure free series on how to learn aws go through
00:46:10that that
00:46:11is genuinely enough um for most jobs genuinely i highly recommend taking that because that will be
00:46:18very helpful um to put on your resume uh it's just really really great let me see let me see
00:46:29i'm
00:46:29reading through questions give me just a second we only got eight minutes left before we start doing
00:46:34the giveaway so hold on to your horses how much time would it take this from samikshia stress
00:46:49stress the i butchered your name but i i'm trying my best how would time how much time would it
00:46:54take
00:46:55to become a data analyst all right so really realistically to learn the skills to at least get
00:47:00an entry-level role you're looking at about like let's say you do like you have a full full-time
00:47:06job you don't can't dedicate all your time to this you can do it for like two three hours a
00:47:10night
00:47:10um during the week that's about it two to three hours like 10 hours a week i think you can
00:47:15do it
00:47:16in a few months so like let's say three months i think you can learn the basics well enough to
00:47:20be
00:47:20able to start applying to really make yourself competitive um you know to to have a really good
00:47:28chance i would say probably like four to five months of building and being really putting in
00:47:35the time and effort to know these uh to know these tools and kind of learn how to think like
00:47:40a data
00:47:40analyst i would say like four to five months but again i always put that in in the perspective of
00:47:45if you are able to get in you're able to land that job you've changed your whole career so that
00:47:52could be the next 20 30 40 years of your life in data and in tech and growing with this
00:47:58new wave of
00:47:59ai and being part of that instead of being left behind you know i highly recommend um trying to
00:48:05get in now i do even though i think there's gonna be a big wave once once we see the
00:48:12economy shift
00:48:13from very fearful which is the economy is a very fearful space right now with just where we're at
00:48:20when it switches from fearful to being greedy or they want to get get get as much as they can
00:48:24you're going to see so much hiring you're going to see so much hiring i just don't know when that
00:48:27is
00:48:27nobody knows um let's see
00:48:34let me go back down
00:48:38i can't pronounce that name at all but it says data analyst free course to crack the job or not
00:48:42from alex analyst i would say and i know i would say that if you really put in the work
00:48:49and you
00:48:49really put in the time and you complete the full data analyst boot camp um on youtube that that is
00:48:55enough now you may want to go even more in depth to make yourself more competitive um but i think
00:49:01genuinely it is enough all right let me let me go uh daggy said i haven't heard about ruby in
00:49:08years
00:49:08i'm guessing you're referring to my ruby on rails uh comment um let's see my github playlist
00:49:16dtm github playlist i just finished recording i am editing those videos now
00:49:20the those the whole git and github series uh there's like eight videos i will release those in
00:49:27um after the r series which i think ends next month so it's got like three more videos and
00:49:34then my getting github series will start um my git and github course is going to be released on monday
00:49:40on analyst builder it is done i'm just uh finishing up the final touches it'll be ready and i'll launch
00:49:45it on monday uh which will be really cool that's going to be a great course for data professionals
00:49:50who don't know git or github you need to know those let's see
00:49:59just reading through questions give me a sec
00:50:03i use ai to write dax yeah matthew gets it ai is good for like the things that i don't
00:50:08like doing
00:50:08i don't like dax is one of them that are not it's not fun to write um back in the
00:50:14day you'd have to go
00:50:14to stack overflow back in the day many years ago you had to go to stack overflow um i still
00:50:20do use
00:50:21stack overflow sometimes when uh ai is just not doing the trick um but it's also good for like
00:50:26regular expression or things like that
00:50:31are sort of uh this is from ashutosh are certificates necessary or skills loss
00:50:37self-projects more valuable 100 without a doubt skills plus projects are way more valuable than
00:50:45any certificate that you're going to have it just is i promise you i've talked to so many hiring
00:50:51managers i was a hiring manager myself i want to see what you can do the thing is is you
00:50:55have to be
00:50:55able to talk knowledgeably to that project because i would ask people about projects and interviews i'd
00:51:00be like hey this is a really neat project tell me about it and if they were like um yeah
00:51:05i built it
00:51:06in sequel it's pretty cool that's a terrible answer but if they were like oh yeah well this was a
00:51:11really
00:51:11cool project because what i did was is i pulled the data in using this python script so i was
00:51:17automatic automatically ingesting that data i think it was once a week to get that updates i created
00:51:22this data cleaning process and then uh when it got in there i would query the data i created this
00:51:27dashboard that hit off of the data and that dashboard uh was something that i actually used for this
00:51:32that's a way better story and it sounds really impressive and you're excited about it and that is a
00:51:37really good thing to see as a potential employer and so i do recommend projects a lot all right we
00:51:45got three minutes before the giveaway um i am going to go i skipped down to the i'm going to
00:51:49answer
00:51:50two or three more questions then we're going to go on to the giveaway okay aj7 hi alex how are
00:51:57you
00:51:57doing i'm doing really well honestly i'm feeling my shoulders hurting a little bit i just built a
00:52:02pantry for my wife we just finished it um and uh yeah it's uh it was a project so i
00:52:11hurt my arm
00:52:12while doing that but it's okay it's okay i'll be all right do i need aman kumar do i need
00:52:19to learn
00:52:19power bi if i already know tableau it doesn't hurt it doesn't hurt if you know tableau you already know
00:52:27a lot of power bi the basics the fundamentals so go in practice with it put that on your resume
00:52:31too
00:52:32um i started with tableau and then when i picked up power bi it was a little bit different a
00:52:37little
00:52:37bit different mechanics and drag and drop and calculations and whatnot so it's worth learning
00:52:43both you can put both on your resume genuinely um it's not that much different all right let me see
00:52:55let me see
00:52:56let me see
00:53:02alejandro ladano hey alex uh hope you're well will there be an analyst builder internship in the future
00:53:08so i did an analyst builder internship went really well had a great intern um built some dashboards and
00:53:15data analytics stuff um and did a great job did a great job but it was a lot of work
00:53:22on my end um it
00:53:23was more work than i was kind of hoping for um and my time is is becoming more and more
00:53:28and more
00:53:29limited as time goes on i have more things on my plate more clients more customers on analyst builder
00:53:36i i just didn't i don't have time for an intern right now i wish i could but i just
00:53:41don't um so i know
00:53:43i'm sorry i'm not going to take on another intern at the moment um in the future i hope to
00:53:46do that
00:53:47again because it was a good experience i just don't have the time the google uh drewski this is
00:53:53our last question is the google data analytics certificate worthless it's not worthless it's just
00:53:58not great uh anymore in the current market it's pretty bare bones it's pretty simple if you're just
00:54:05starting out as a data analyst you've never taken my stuff uh you've never gone through my data
00:54:09analyst boot camp um you don't know anything then the data analyst certificate can be decent for
00:54:15learning some of the core concepts some of the basics it can be decent if you've taken my data
00:54:20analyst boot camp you have gone leaps and bounds beyond the google data analyst certificate and it
00:54:25was free so um yeah if you're a very very very very beginner sure it can be good it's not
00:54:32worthless
00:54:33there is good information in it i took a lot of it when it first came out several years ago
00:54:37um but no if you my stuff is much better and um it just provides a lot more uh a
00:54:48lot more
00:54:49information all right guys here's what you need to do we're gonna do our giveaway the giveaway is

00:55:37click on it click buy you don't have to buy it i don't want you to buy it i'm not
00:55:43trying to sell
00:55:43you anything i promise you i'm not trying to sell you anything i'm just trying to give away courses
00:55:47what you have to do is i'm about to give you a promo code and there's a thing that says
00:55:53add promo
00:55:54code i haven't created them yet because people are good at guessing people will guess the codes
00:55:58beforehand i don't do that anymore add the promo code you're gonna add the promo code let's say it
00:56:03was slinky you type in slinky you hit enter you have to click buy you'll get it for free it'll
00:56:09the
00:56:10total go down to zero and then you'll buy it if yours errors out or it says uh code is
00:56:16no longer
00:56:17available somebody else got it before you if you don't get it you don't get it that's just how it
00:56:21works i don't make the rules all right so here's what's gonna happen i'm going over to uh i'm going
00:56:29over to my where is it here it is going over to my screen right now i am about to

00:58:26me know what
00:58:26course you got by the way i'm just i'm always curious as to what um what you redeemed or what
00:58:30course you wanted all right if you got it just let me know all right i am gonna go and
00:58:39create our
00:58:40next code this code two people will be able to redeem it not just one this time two people so
00:58:47let me go down here let me go and i'm gonna say two people so this code um you just
00:58:56i like making
00:58:57up random stuff this code i just created it um this code i'll give you a hint this code was
00:59:04something i just built i talked about it like 10 minutes ago in the live stream when i hurt my
00:59:07shoulder i built something that is the code so that might help you uh get it it's in all caps
00:59:14all right the code is pantry i'm gonna make a post about that tomorrow by the way because the pantry
00:59:18looks great i'm so proud of it me and my dad did i think he did a really good job
00:59:22then my wife
00:59:23painted it and spruced it up and i had this backsplash it was really nice the code is
00:59:27pantry um yeah my wife was just we we were tired of the old pantry we had um and uh
00:59:38she wanted a new one so i built it me and my dad built it for her um yeah matthew
00:59:43i'll put it i'll
00:59:44make a post tomorrow about it i'll put it on instagram too because i know you're on instagram
00:59:48but um i'll put i'll post on instagram but it looks really good um actually let me see you know
00:59:53what
00:59:53hold the phone y'all are gonna get a sneak peek hold up this is like kind of what it
00:59:59looks like
01:00:00let me see if i can put it right here oh wait oh geez everything's falling apart ah don't don't
01:00:09worry about that all right here we go let's see that's kind of that's what um the pantry looks like
01:00:14now and so it looks completely different completely completely different um but i think it looks quite
01:00:23good i was really proud of it i'm watching myself now trying to do what i did um all right
01:00:34so two
01:00:35people should have redeemed that code and i'm going to do two more codes sorry one more code but two
01:00:40people
01:00:41can redeem it let me see who got this uh if you did win one of the courses like it
01:00:45went through and you
01:00:45got everything um be sure to let me know which course you got let me see who redeemed the pantry
01:00:51a pantry's gone um oh it doesn't show me who's redeeming it doesn't matter um but two people got that
01:01:00one if you've already won don't try to get it again right let's be nice let other people have it
01:01:05this one two more people are gonna win a free course this is the very last one
01:01:16and this court this code is now active it's something very close to my heart
01:01:20um it's something i say often because i mean it it's something that um you know i don't i'm not
01:01:30lying when i say this uh the code is in all caps no spaces i love you it is i
01:01:37love you and i mean that
01:01:38i really do love you guys all out there i hope everyone is good safe healthy um you know doing
01:01:46well mentally and physically um i really do mean that so the code is i love you all caps no
01:01:53spaces
01:01:54all caps no spaces and two people can redeem that if you win one of these just comment uh what
01:02:02you win
01:02:06that is it that's all you got to do
01:02:12i do play guitar i do play guitar um this is not a good setup to play it because i
01:02:19have this other
01:02:20microphone let me bring it down just a second i have this microphone these two microphones are very
01:02:24different uh the one above me is what i use for most of my videos it's great audio for capturing
01:02:30everything around me and so if i wanted to play guitar i'd need that microphone active this microphone
01:02:35is really good for giving a clear voice when i'm talking uh and not picking up all these surrounding
01:02:40stuff so if i play guitar right now you wouldn't even hear it i would not be useful um
01:02:47yeah i'm watching myself again but yeah it wouldn't be useful and so i uh am not going to
01:02:52play guitar right now but i could use this microphone in the next one and maybe play a
01:02:57little guitar but yes i do play guitar all right guys uh that is the live stream for today
01:03:05i hope that that was helpful i really do um i will be doing this again next week and the
01:03:11week after
01:03:11and the week after uh and i'll give do giveaways on every single one just as a thank you for
