00:00:02Hello, hello, hello.
00:00:04All right.
00:00:05I'm just making sure everything's up and running before we get going.
00:00:09Move this where it's supposed to go.
00:00:14All right.
00:00:15Looks like we're doing good.
00:00:17So how these work, if you haven't been to one of the live streams before.
00:00:22Also, what happened here?
00:00:23Why did it do that?
00:00:25There we go.
00:00:26If you haven't been to one of the live streams before, here's how it goes.
00:00:28We do Q&A, so question and answer.
00:00:32And then at the end, I do a big giveaway of a bunch of courses on Analyst Builder.
00:00:37I will show you how to do that in the future at the end of this live stream.
00:00:45But it's pretty simple.
00:00:47People come, they ask questions, and we get going.
00:00:51We'll wait until more people are here to really dig into things.
00:00:56But we already have a question from Queen Timoti2039.
00:01:02Can someone learn data analysis up to a junior level by watching videos on YouTube?
00:01:08All right.
00:01:09Back in the day, the answer would be no, probably not.
00:01:14Right?
00:01:15Just because there wasn't a lot of stuff.
00:01:17Most courses were behind paywalls on like Udemy and Coursera and a ton of other platforms.
00:01:23These days, you can 100% become a junior level and entry level just from YouTube.
00:01:30This is 100% a fact.
00:01:32Because people have messaged me, like genuinely hundreds of people who have messaged me and said,
00:01:38Hey, Alex, I watched all your stuff on YouTube, and it was extremely helpful.
00:01:44I landed my first job.
00:01:45I used to be, you know, a chef, or I used to be a teacher or something like that.
00:01:50Happens all the time.
00:01:51So absolutely, you can.
00:01:53If you are just joining, thank you for joining.
00:01:57I have two different screens, so don't mind if I look around.
00:02:01Here's how it's going to work.
00:02:02I'm going to answer you guys' questions.
00:02:03Go ahead and put your question in the chat, and I will answer them if I can.
00:02:10Now, don't spam.
00:02:11If you spam, I'll block you.
00:02:13I hate to do it, but I'll do it.
00:02:14It doesn't bother me.
00:02:18But thank you guys for joining.
00:02:19If you are joining and you don't mind sharing, I would love to know where you're from.
00:02:24I'm on the East Coast right now.
00:02:26I live near Charleston, South Carolina.
00:02:29And so we usually have people from all over the world.
00:02:32It's really cool.
00:02:34And so, you know, if you want to share, that would be really nice.
00:02:38But some of the questions, let's go back up.
00:02:42Which should learn data analytics or data science with generative AI?
00:02:46I mean, I have heard from data science people that data science is changing a lot more than data analytics
00:02:55is right now, especially with AI.
00:02:57And so for generative AI, if you want to go, like, heavy AI route, then data science might be for
00:03:04you.
00:03:05But, you know, you're going to use a lot of AI in any technical field right now.
00:03:13Let's see.
00:03:15Hey, I've been in the live chat before.
00:03:18Hey, thanks for being here.
00:03:20A lot of people.
00:03:21All right, here we go.
00:03:22Live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
00:03:24I used to live right north of Charlotte, North Carolina.
00:03:28I lived in Concord, Kannapolis area.
00:03:31So super familiar with that area.
00:03:33We got people from Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania.
00:03:39Almost said that wrong.
00:03:40Daniel from Nigeria.
00:03:41Toronto, Canada.
00:03:44And awesome.
00:03:45United Kingdom all over the world.
00:03:47That's fantastic.
00:03:50Awesome, awesome.
00:03:51Yeah, please share your questions.
00:03:54You know, I will answer them as we go.
00:03:57Towards the end, I will then do a giveaway.
00:04:00The giveaway being my courses that I've created on Analyst Builder.
00:04:03I will show you how to get those.
00:04:06I think it's pretty straightforward, but I'm going to show you how to do it.
00:04:09I'm going to get rid of this one thing over here.
00:04:11I'm going to look over on this side, if you guys don't mind.
00:04:14All right, let's see.
00:04:18Which should you...
00:04:20I already answered that one.
00:04:22Is there money in web scraping and selling that data to businesses on LinkedIn?
00:04:26I have no idea.
00:04:28I have absolutely no idea.
00:04:30I'm sure there is.
00:04:32It's very niche.
00:04:33You're going to have to know people before you start doing it.
00:04:35Because if you just have a random data set and you try to sell it, I don't know if people
00:04:38would be interested in buying that.
00:04:44All right, listen, I hate to do this.
00:04:46I just answered your question, but I'm going to put you in a timeout.
00:04:51I hate to do it.
00:04:55I don't like spam.
00:04:56It just clogs up everything.
00:04:58Will you save the live stream?
00:05:00Yes, you'll be able to watch this back.
00:05:02And people do, believe it or not, even after, people do come back and watch these.
00:05:07Sometimes it's just...
00:05:08I've had people in the comments say they will play these back when they're trying to go to bed because
00:05:14I have a very soothing voice, apparently.
00:05:16I didn't know that.
00:05:17Or they've just watched too many of my videos.
00:05:18It's becoming, like, hypnotic.
00:05:20But they will actually watch these live streams back to go to bed.
00:05:24And that's okay with me.
00:05:25If you're going to bed right now, that's okay.
00:05:28I don't mind.
00:05:29I actually think that's pretty cool.
00:05:31Let's see.
00:05:32Give me a scholarship on your Excel course.
00:05:34Well, if you stick around, you may earn or get one of those free courses at the end.
00:05:39I'm based in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
00:05:41Very cool, Bolivia.
00:05:43Romania, Pakistan, India, Ghana, Sudan, Scotland, Algier.
00:05:50I think that's...
00:05:50Is that how you pronounce it?
00:05:53Very cool.
00:05:54A lot of people from all over.
00:05:55India, Uganda, Egypt.
00:05:57Very nice.
00:05:58To be a data analyst from non-technical background, what do you think from India?
00:06:02So, I 100% am a firm believer that people with non-technical backgrounds who have really strong domain knowledge
00:06:10make great data analysts if they like, you know, the data side of things.
00:06:14For example, I have worked with countless, like, in my own personal work experience, I've worked with countless people who
00:06:21worked in hospitals and then transferred over to the healthcare analytics side.
00:06:26And they make phenomenal data analysts because they understand how the data works on the other side.
00:06:32So, it's not just, you know, oh, I know how to use Excel and these tools.
00:06:37It's, no, they actually understand how the data works on the other side, which can be really, really valuable.
00:06:43Nice to see you live.
00:06:45I've learned so many things from your videos, especially SQL high five from Germany.
00:06:49High five from the U.S.
00:06:50Thanks for joining.
00:06:53Is data engineering not for freshers?
00:06:55You can start out in data engineering right away.
00:06:57A lot of people, especially with computer science degrees, go right into data engineering.
00:07:02Does that mean that you should do it with absolutely no knowledge of what you're doing?
00:07:07It would be difficult.
00:07:08It would be quite difficult.
00:07:09I, myself, think that I could probably go and get a data engineering job with the skills I've learned over
00:07:15the past 10 years or so.
00:07:17Could I do it with none of those skills and just learning online and then getting my first job?
00:07:22It'd be extremely, like, you'd be a big, big outlier.
00:07:26That's my opinion.
00:07:28So my viewpoint on kind of those a lot more technical jobs like data engineering is you need to get
00:07:38some experience building, maybe some experience in other positions first.
00:07:44It doesn't have to be that way.
00:07:46You don't have to take my advice.
00:07:47I'm just saying it's going to be really tough to get a job right away.
00:07:53All right.
00:07:53I got someone spamming.
00:07:54Give me a second.
00:07:55I got to put them in a timeout.
00:07:56I hate to do it, but I will do it.
00:08:00Yeah.
00:08:00You spam, you're out.
00:08:01It's just, you know, got to do what I got to do.
00:08:05Let's see.
00:08:06I've done my bachelor in statistics recently.
00:08:09How I moved to data science.
00:08:11So statistics is a fantastic degree.
00:08:14Genuinely, if I could go back, I don't know if I get, I'd probably do computer science, but I would,
00:08:19like, minor in statistics or something.
00:08:21I really like statistics.
00:08:22It's a great kind of core degree to get, but typically you're not going to have all the technical skills
00:08:32that you need.
00:08:32So if you're going to go into data science, you're going to need to learn all the tooling, not all
00:08:37of it, but a large majority of, like, what data science people are using.
00:08:42And so, you know, I'm not going to go through everything.
00:08:44I'm just saying, yes, you absolutely can do it, but you're going to need to put in a lot of
00:08:49work because a statistics background in and of itself is helpful, but it is not going to get you the
00:08:55job.
00:08:55You have to also know how to use that statistics knowledge.
00:08:59All right, we got someone from Maryland, from Pakistan, from India.
00:09:02Very nice, very nice.
00:09:04I love seeing where everyone's from.
00:09:06I have seen countries that I'm like, I think I've seen that or heard of that country, like, once in
00:09:12my life.
00:09:13And I'm like, they're watching right now across the world.
00:09:15It's really cool.
00:09:19Must SQL be included in data analysis?
00:09:21And I'm guessing that's meant to be visualization.
00:09:24Short answer, like 99.9% of the time.
00:09:29I was in a job many years.
00:09:31My very first job before I was even, like, a data analyst.
00:09:35It was a data collection specialist and an analyst.
00:09:38And I only used Excel.
00:09:41How we collected the data.
00:09:42And we sent it off for grants.
00:09:44It was a nonprofit, so we sent it off for the grants from the government to receive our money.
00:09:47That's what I did.
00:09:49It was only Excel.
00:09:50But the amount of jobs that are only Excel are super, super, super, super, super limited.
00:09:56So I would say, yes, SQL is like a almost 99.99% needed job or needed skill.
00:10:06All right, let's see.
00:10:08With little knowledge of data analytics, though learning more, can we apply for entry-level data analytics?
00:10:14Yeah, go for it.
00:10:15You can apply.
00:10:16I would say if you, I don't, maybe little knowledge needs to be fleshed out a little more.
00:10:22When I think little knowledge, I'm thinking, like, you know the basics of, like, what data is.
00:10:26That's very little knowledge of data analytics.
00:10:28If you're in the process and you feel semi-confident in, like, SQL, Excel, and a BI tool, you can
00:10:34apply to some jobs that might hire you.
00:10:38Maybe because you're going to be working for a lot less and that's what they want to pay you.
00:10:43As you get more skills, as you start getting cloud platforms and Python and you learn automation and data cleaning,
00:10:48all these things,
00:10:49you're going to be worth a lot more and you're going to open yourself up to a lot more jobs.
00:10:53So, I would say with little knowledge, I would learn more first.
00:10:57That's my opinion.
00:11:00In the future of data analytics, will it be replaced by AI?
00:11:06I've made several videos on this.
00:11:08I highly recommend going and watching those.
00:11:11I genuinely, I just, you know, met with a company yesterday who is, like, on the forefront of data analytics
00:11:17and AI.
00:11:19Awesome to learn what they're working on and all these different stuff.
00:11:22Really cool.
00:11:24Is what they're even working on replacing data analysts?
00:11:27No.
00:11:28In fact, you know, the workflows that they create in their systems are very data analyst focused.
00:11:35They're for data analysts to utilize and use and dig in and write code and all these things.
00:11:43Data analysis, everything working with data is changing, but the jobs themselves are still there.
00:11:49We still need data engineers.
00:11:50We still need data scientists.
00:11:52We still need data analysts.
00:11:53We still need business analysts.
00:11:54And what I would say is that if all you can do is what AI can do, then you yourself
00:12:03kind of need to adapt better.
00:12:05Because I can confidently say, at least from my skills, you know, AI can do parts of them.
00:12:11It does them fairly well.
00:12:13Like, if I'm writing some code, it does a pretty good job.
00:12:16Are there things that because I have, you know, knowledge in certain domains and knowledge in certain areas, I'm more
00:12:23useful?
00:12:23A hundred percent.
00:12:24That's why my expertise would be needed.
00:12:26That's why data analysis and data engineers and all these roles are still going to stick around.
00:12:31I guarantee you, they're just adapting to kind of a different market.
00:12:37And what I also will say is that AI is not as what I would consider widespread as you would
00:12:45imagine.
00:12:46Most mom and pop shops, most small and mid-sized companies aren't using a ton of AI.
00:12:50Or if they are, they don't know how to use it well.
00:12:52And so this isn't like, you know, an epidemic that's going to, all jobs will be gone in like the
00:13:00next year.
00:13:01I promise you, it takes a long time for people and companies to adapt.
00:13:07Can you give examples where data analysis led to conclusions that later proved wrong?
00:13:12What caused the error and how was it discovered?
00:13:14I've made wrong assumptions in my work before.
00:13:17And so, you know, yeah, absolutely.
00:13:19This happens all the time.
00:13:23Data is what you collect, right?
00:13:25It's what you have available.
00:13:27It's what sits in front of you on a screen.
00:13:29But there's also data outside of that.
00:13:31There's a lot of data that is not in a database.
00:13:35And what I mean by that is, is I go and like, I hearken back to a lot of my
00:13:39healthcare days.
00:13:40I haven't worked in the healthcare analytics in like four or five years.
00:13:46But in there, I remember, you know, you have the data sitting in front of you and you're like,
00:13:50okay, here's what the data is telling me.
00:13:53And based off of this, we can assume this.
00:13:58And based only on the data, that's true.
00:14:00But then you start talking to people in the field.
00:14:04They start interpreting it in a different way.
00:14:06They start telling you, oh, actually, this means this.
00:14:09And this means this.
00:14:10And actually, we're doing this because of this.
00:14:12And then you realize that your assumption was quite off.
00:14:15Now, is it 100% off?
00:14:16Probably not.
00:14:17Maybe it's 30% off.
00:14:18But that's a big difference.
00:14:20And so raw data that sits in a database is not the whole picture.
00:14:24And so you cannot make 100% perfect predictions and accurate predictions based purely on data
00:14:32sitting in a database.
00:14:33Even if you get it 100% right, you write the best SQL, you write the best Python, you build
00:14:38the best dashboard.
00:14:39If you don't have some of these external things and you know it really well,
00:14:43or you have been talking to people who are in that field who are going to be using that data,
00:14:46you might get it wrong.
00:14:48It's just how it works.
00:14:49It's a great question.
00:14:53Sorry, it skipped down.
00:14:54Let me go back up.
00:14:56Do your videos alone make us proficient in data analysis?
00:14:59Maria 36911.
00:15:02This is a great question.
00:15:04I answered this earlier and I've answered this in previous ones.
00:15:08Is you can become a data analyst with only my videos.
00:15:15100%.
00:15:15I've had hundreds of people reach out over the years just saying,
00:15:18hey, I watched your videos.
00:15:20I was working at, you know, I was a teacher.
00:15:22I was a nurse.
00:15:24I was this or I was that.
00:15:26And I just watched your videos and I used it to apply and I got a job.
00:15:31And it's incredible.
00:15:32It's incredible to hear.
00:15:33But you have to put in the work.
00:15:35I make the videos.
00:15:36I put in the work to make the videos.
00:15:38But you need to learn it and apply it.
00:15:39And that takes a lot of time and dedication, genuinely.
00:15:43So 100% you can get a job with just my videos.
00:15:50Oldenough says, I'm working on Analyst Builder right now, Excel program.
00:15:53That's awesome.
00:15:54Yeah, I highly recommend.
00:15:56And I'm giving away free Analyst Builder courses.
00:15:58Those are where all of my full courses, you know, they go way more in depth than it's even on,
00:16:03like, YouTube.
00:16:04Those are all my stuff.
00:16:05So he's working through the Excel course.
00:16:06And I have two Excel ones, Excel for Data Analysis and Advanced Excel for Automation.
00:16:11So I hope you're learning those.
00:16:14Genesha 5678, I haven't learned anything on Databricks just yet.
00:16:18Is that going to be an advantage for an Analyst?
00:16:21All right.
00:16:22So I'm going to go high level for a second.
00:16:25Let's say you only know SQL, Excel, and, like, Power BI.
00:16:28Let's just take that for example.
00:16:29You're going to open yourself up to, like, 20%, 15% of all Data Analyst jobs.
00:16:37All right.
00:16:37But then you add different tools.
00:16:39You add Python, AWS, and you add Azure, and you add Databricks, and you add Snowflake, and you add, there's
00:16:45so many tools.
00:16:47You start adding these, and then it becomes, instead of 15%, then it's 40%, and then 50%, and then 60%,
00:16:52and then 70%, and then 80%, and then you toss in some domain knowledge, and you're opening yourself up to
00:16:57a lot of jobs.
00:16:59And so I do recommend learning some type of cloud-based platform.
00:17:03It can be Databricks.
00:17:04It can be Snowflake.
00:17:05It can be AWS and Azure.
00:17:07The ones I recommend starting with are AWS and Azure.
00:17:10The reason being is Databricks, it's a different type of cloud-based platform.
00:17:16It's meant to be simpler.
00:17:18And so if you go to Databricks right now, and I have a whole, I have, like, three series on
00:17:23YouTube on Databricks.
00:17:25You can learn 90% of what you need just on YouTube.
00:17:29You're going to learn it quickly, but it's not super, super difficult.
00:17:34So once you learn it, that's not super applicable to, like, AWS and Azure, which is a little bit more
00:17:39complex.
00:17:39It's a larger ecosystem of tooling, whereas Databricks is kind of, like, its own tool.
00:17:44And so you're just learning one tool.
00:17:46And so I recommend AWS and Azure first, then looking at things like, you know, Databricks and Snowflake.
00:17:51That's my recommendation.
00:17:56All right.
00:17:57Give me a sec.
00:17:58Got to meet some people.
00:17:58I'm not even going to read your question.
00:18:00If I see your question, like, 10 times, I'm just deleting it.
00:18:03All right.
00:18:06Let's see.
00:18:09Sir, there are multiple data analysts how to take a placement.
00:18:11I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I'm going to say what I think it means.
00:18:16There's a lot of different data analyst roles.
00:18:18So how do you know which one to, like, apply for?
00:18:22There are so many.
00:18:24I have a whole video on, like, data analyst job titles because there's so many.
00:18:28I was a data analyst, a data collection specialist and analyst.
00:18:32I've been a junior data analyst.
00:18:34I've been a data analyst.
00:18:36I've been a data analytics consultant.
00:18:40And then there's a ton of other ones.
00:18:42There's visualization specialists.
00:18:44There's business analysts.
00:18:45There's a ton.
00:18:46I mean, genuine.
00:18:47Go watch the video because there's, like, 20 just that you can choose from.
00:18:51How do you know which one to go for?
00:18:56Realistically, a lot of it has to do with domain.
00:18:58Like, there's healthcare specialists or healthcare analysts, they're going to specialize in healthcare.
00:19:03There's finance analysts, they're going to specialize in finance.
00:19:06And so knowing what you kind of want to do, knowing what domain, that helps guide it.
00:19:11And then, you know, use something like ChatGVD.
00:19:13Say, hey, here are my skills.
00:19:15Here's my domain.
00:19:15Give me, like, 10 job titles within, you know, that would be good for me to apply to.
00:19:21And that's a good use case of using that.
00:19:27Good day.
00:19:28Any challenges you faced during your transition to data analysis?
00:19:32Countless.
00:19:33It was not easy.
00:19:36When I first started out, I only knew Excel.
00:19:39And a consultant came in.
00:19:41We were getting Salesforce.
00:19:44A consultant came in.
00:19:45He said, oh, you're the data guy.
00:19:46You must know SQL.
00:19:47I had never heard of SQL.
00:19:48I had no idea what SQL was.
00:19:50And so I had to learn SQL.
00:19:51And I learned it to the best of my ability.
00:19:53I was like, man, I really know this.
00:19:55And then I applied.
00:19:56It wasn't my first interview, but the first job I got as a healthcare analyst, they hired me.
00:20:03And in the interview, they did a technical assessment.
00:20:06I didn't really know how to explain joins.
00:20:09I thought I understood it.
00:20:11I didn't really understand it.
00:20:12And so that was, of course, a challenge.
00:20:14And so you don't know what you don't know when you're transitioning into, like, the data field.
00:20:19But looking back, I mean, I wish I'd answered it in a ton of different ways.
00:20:25I had what they needed, though, besides that one piece.
00:20:28And I'm a go-getter.
00:20:29I'm going to work hard.
00:20:31And I talked about that in the interview.
00:20:32And so they gave me a chance.
00:20:34And they took a chance on me.
00:20:35And I ended up doing a really good job, I think.
00:20:37And so the challenges are just that you don't know what you don't know.
00:20:40And so that's why I have so many videos on things like that.
00:20:45But give me one sec.
00:20:46Okay, I just want to make sure everything was working well.
00:20:50And so, yeah, a lot of it is just ridiculous things that, you know, I probably should have known.
00:20:59But, you know, you just learn by learning.
00:21:01You learn by doing and making mistakes.
00:21:03And that's how you learn.
00:21:06Would you consider student discounts for your website?
00:21:08Yeah, just send me an email.
00:21:09Shoot me an email or message on LinkedIn.
00:21:12Alex, what do you think about AI and what do we as freshers do?
00:21:15All right.
00:21:16I talked about AI earlier.
00:21:17So I'm not going to deep dive into AI.
00:21:20But I think AI is a fantastic tool.
00:21:23But from my personal experience, and I use it for my work all the time, is it makes a lot
00:21:28of mistakes.
00:21:29And so you have to actually know what you're doing.
00:21:31Here's what I will say.
00:21:33I'm going to just take one example.
00:21:36And it still does this all the time.
00:21:37I write a lot of SQL.
00:21:39I write a lot of Python.
00:21:41But let's just take SQL.
00:21:42It's a tool that all of you guys should be learning or know.
00:21:46SQL is something I've been using for like almost 10 years now.
00:21:50I'm very good at SQL.
00:21:52I know ahead of time what a query should look like or how it should be written.
00:21:58Or I know different variations off the top of my head.
00:22:00I just know.
00:22:01So when I'm using SQL and I'm writing something more complex than just like a simple select statement,
00:22:05I'm writing something complex.
00:22:06I know what it should look like.
00:22:08I just don't want to have to write it all out.
00:22:09That's what the great use of AI is.
00:22:11And so I say, hey, write this code like this.
00:22:15It generates it.
00:22:16It gets it like 75% of the way there.
00:22:18I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
00:22:19I know what it's supposed to look like.
00:22:21I'm like, here's what it needs to do.
00:22:22Do this, this, this, and this.
00:22:23It tries to do its best.
00:22:24It kind of gets it okay and then it doesn't get it.
00:22:27And so I have to keep iterating on this.
00:22:30And sometimes it just completely like changes the code entirely and infuriates me.
00:22:35That is just one example of I am not smarter than AI.
00:22:40I just have better context to exactly what I'm doing and I have better experience in what I'm trying to
00:22:48achieve.
00:22:49And so AI is going to do its best, but it's not going to get it exactly right.
00:22:54And so you have to know it.
00:22:55My recommendation for people who are starting right now is not to dive into AI right away.
00:23:00And I've seen a lot of people online do this where they're like, I tried to learn it and now
00:23:04I don't know how to write it.
00:23:06I am 100% reliant on SQL.
00:23:08I know what the SQL does.
00:23:10Like I kind of understand it.
00:23:11But if AI cannot write it, I can't fix it.
00:23:15And so, you know, that's a big danger of using AI at the beginning.
00:23:21And so I would not recommend it.
00:23:32I just got a paid internship in data analytics in a company for six months for full-time conversion.
00:23:37Should I focus on upgrading skills, data engineering, so I can convert that into a full-time?
00:23:42Well, first off, congratulations.
00:23:43That's huge.
00:23:45You want to, in this job market, you want to work your tail off in order to do really well
00:23:51in that job.
00:23:52Get to know people, talk to people, become kind of in part of the company culture.
00:23:59Do not just seclude yourself and try to do it all yourself.
00:24:05Get to know people.
00:24:06Because then, at the end of your internship, you want them to be like, man, it's really sad if, you
00:24:12know, they leave.
00:24:13We want them here.
00:24:14We should offer them a job.
00:24:15You don't want them to be like, well, you know, their internship's coming up, you know, not a big deal.
00:24:21We'll get someone else.
00:24:23You want to become, like, part of the culture.
00:24:25Work aside.
00:24:26Get to know people.
00:24:28I know that's, like, not something that everyone wants to do, but it's a huge difference.
00:24:33It makes a huge difference if you're going to get that conversion to a full-time job.
00:24:36In terms of upskilling, absolutely.
00:24:38Upskill as much as you possibly can and learn the tools that they're using.
00:24:41If they're using Azure, go and take an Azure course.
00:24:44You're going to learn hands-on, but then you're going to learn through the course as well, and you can,
00:24:47you know, learn even faster that way.
00:24:51All right, give me a second.
00:24:51I'm going to take a sip of water.
00:24:59Good morning, Alex.
00:25:00Excited to hear your voice.
00:25:01It's very, I very much appreciate that.
00:25:04I was saying earlier that some people have told me that they fall asleep to my live streams.
00:25:09They like to put it on.
00:25:11They will, like, after I'm done with this live stream, it's going to be watchable.
00:25:18You can go back and watch it, and people will put it on to go to bed.
00:25:22I don't take offense to it.
00:25:23I think that's great.
00:25:24I'm glad I have a nice, soothing voice.
00:25:27You know, they fall asleep to my sequel videos all the time.
00:25:30Now they want the live, they want the real deal, the live stream.
00:25:36A lot of people asking about AI.
00:25:37I've talked a lot about AI just even a couple questions ago.
00:25:41So if I already answered it, I hope I did.
00:25:42If not, just go back a little bit.
00:25:44I've talked about AI a few times.
00:25:46Thanks for answering our questions.
00:25:48Do you think pollers will overtake pandas in terms of popularity,
00:25:50and what's your personal preference between the two?
00:25:52All right.
00:25:54Give me one second.
00:25:54I've got to burp.
00:25:57Pollers and pandas.
00:25:59I have used pollers.
00:26:01I really like pollers.
00:26:02Here's the difference between pandas and pollers.
00:26:04Pandas has an extremely large library because so many people have used it for a long time.
00:26:09Is pollers technically better than pandas?
00:26:14Yes.
00:26:15I've used it.
00:26:16It's faster.
00:26:17If you do benchmark testing on, like, speed, pollers comes back higher almost every single time.
00:26:23It's very similar in syntax, but there are some key differences.
00:26:28It isn't a huge deal.
00:26:30Like, if you know pandas, you can learn pollers pretty quick.
00:26:34Like, it's not super complex.
00:26:37What I will say is you need community support for something to overtake something else.
00:26:42And pollers just doesn't have that.
00:26:43I haven't seen it even the past several years that I've used pollers.
00:26:46I haven't seen that community support that would need to become, like, a leader.
00:26:51Now, pollers is great for certain use cases.
00:26:53You have a certain amount of data you need to be processing.
00:26:55You need to connect to certain systems.
00:26:57Pollers is, like, a great option.
00:26:58I've used it in production in, you know, on different projects.
00:27:03But would I use it as my default for everything?
00:27:05No.
00:27:06Just because I know pandas so well.
00:27:08It has so much community support, so many integrations, code-wise, and with libraries and packages and different stuff.
00:27:14So probably not.
00:27:16Probably won't.
00:27:20What you are doing here, it helps a lot.
00:27:23Thank you for that.
00:27:23Absolutely.
00:27:24I'm glad to do it.
00:27:25But thank you guys for joining.
00:27:26Just so you know, at the end of this live stream, I'll be doing a big giveaway.
00:27:29So if you want to stick around for that, that'll be in about 30 minutes or so.
00:27:32I'll be doing a giveaway of courses on Analyst Builder.
00:27:35I will show you how to do that at the end.
00:27:42My mic is so cool.
00:27:44I use this for all my recording for, like, my screen stuff and my courses and whatnot.
00:27:48Because, actually, I have another mic up here.
00:27:50You can't see it.
00:27:52This is my Rode mic NTG.
00:27:56That is what I use, and I don't want this in the screen.
00:27:59But this produces better quality.
00:28:01It's just a different type of microphone.
00:28:03One's, yeah, I'm not going to go into the specs.
00:28:05But they're just different types of microphones.
00:28:08Is a MacBook M3 8 gigabyte best for AI machine learning?
00:28:12No, it's not the best.
00:28:13But you can do it.
00:28:14100%.
00:28:14You could do local models with 8 gigabytes of RAM.
00:28:20You don't need a lot.
00:28:22M3 chip is plenty.
00:28:24You could use an M1.
00:28:27You just have to be smart.
00:28:29Be smart about it.
00:28:30Don't, like, overload your system.
00:28:36This isn't a question, but it just says it's hard to find a job as a junior data analytics
00:28:41in order to get experience to apply for jobs that require more than one or two years.
00:28:44You're 100% right.
00:28:46It is the eternal loop that people complain about in every industry.
00:28:53This is not just data analytics.
00:28:54This is every industry.
00:28:56You need experience to get experience, and you need experience to get a job,
00:28:59so therefore you can't get a job.
00:29:03Again, this is just a problem in every single industry.
00:29:05This is not data analytics specific.
00:29:07But I do hope that you land a job.
00:29:09Keep going.
00:29:10Reach out to people.
00:29:11Go to community events.
00:29:12Apply to local jobs instead of just remote jobs online.
00:29:17And if you don't have local jobs, then see if you're willing to relocate.
00:29:21I hate to say that, but that is genuinely...
00:29:26I've mentored personally a lot of people.
00:29:30And a lot of the ones that I mentored, even back in the day, this is three, four years ago,
00:29:35even a lot of them had a lot more success back then in getting local jobs.
00:29:40The reason being is because you had a lot less competition.
00:29:45And if you are willing to relocate, you can apply to major metropolitan areas around wherever you want to be,
00:29:51and you can be local to those jobs.
00:29:54And so it makes it a lot better.
00:29:56You have so much better chance because so many people want only remote jobs,
00:29:59and there aren't enough to go around.
00:30:03SQL, Excel, Power BI, done.
00:30:06Now what to do?
00:30:07What do you do after you learn the big three, the SQL, Excel, and Power BI?
00:30:12That's a great question.
00:30:13But genuinely, there is a path, and I have made that into a data analyst boot camp.
00:30:20I highly recommend going and checking it out.
00:30:22It's on YouTube for free.
00:30:24But you're going to want to learn things like Python, AWS, Azure,
00:30:29how to use the basics of AI for your kind of work.
00:30:34And then you can learn things like Databricks and R and so many tools.
00:30:40There are so many.
00:30:41There's countless.
00:30:41But those are the things I would focus on.
00:30:43Things like Python, AWS, Azure, those are the ones that I'd be learning after that.
00:30:51Hello, Alex.
00:30:52This is from EltaWheel9003.
00:30:56Hello, Alex.
00:30:57I'm from Egypt.
00:30:57You've helped me a lot.
00:30:58In fact, you're the main source of my learning in this field.
00:31:00I've come a long way.
00:31:01All that's left is Python.
00:31:03That's it.
00:31:04All that's left.
00:31:05Once you learn Python, you're done.
00:31:11No, you'll keep going after that.
00:31:12There's always another tool.
00:31:14I'm still learning today.
00:31:16You know, I just recently have, not recently, like in the past year or so, I've been using
00:31:21DBT a lot.
00:31:22It's just a new tool.
00:31:23A new tool that does similar things.
00:31:25It's, you know, there's so many tools and skills out there.
00:31:28As a beginner data analyst, where can I start from?
00:31:30My number one recommendation, take my Data Analyst Bootcamp on YouTube.
00:31:35It is free.
00:31:36It's like 28 hours of content.
00:31:38You will learn enough to become a data analyst with just that.
00:31:42And then to become a really good data analyst, you have to get some hands-on experience to
00:31:46fail and learn from those.
00:31:50Is it good to know the basics of AI at least?
00:31:52Like the general synopsis of it?
00:31:53Well, 100%.
00:31:54Don't like not know how to use AI.
00:31:57AI within the data world is very different though.
00:32:00I would recommend if you're wanting to learn AI with, in like a good system, is go take my
00:32:08Databricks lessons on YouTube.
00:32:09I show you how to use their AI, how to build the semantic layers, how to, you know, prompt
00:32:16the AI, how to build things with AI, hitting off of a real database.
00:32:21Like Databricks is a great system, especially for learning because you can do it all for
00:32:24free.
00:32:25You can use all their AI stuff for free.
00:32:27It's awesome.
00:32:28I partnered with Databricks on this huge campaign last year.
00:32:32I also hosted, or I didn't host, I was in their big webinar last year as well.
00:32:39I love Databricks.
00:32:40I genuinely do.
00:32:41So if you're wanting to learn AI, like with hands-on databases and semantic layers and,
00:32:48you know, context awareness and all of these different things, I would go to Databricks
00:32:53to learn.
00:32:56Is an internship necessary before applying for a job?
00:32:59No.
00:33:00No, you can apply directly to jobs.
00:33:01In fact, I never had an internship.
00:33:04And I don't know a lot of people who do get internships first just because internships
00:33:08aren't as common.
00:33:10So no, you don't, definitely don't have to.
00:33:16How to build a data analysis mindset.
00:33:19This is a good question.
00:33:20I actually released on YouTube, but it's also on Analyst Builder, and you can go get
00:33:24it for free, which is my soft skills for data professionals.
00:33:31In there, I talk a lot about having this data analyst mindset of how to think about problems,
00:33:36how to solve them, the framework behind it.
00:33:40Because when I first started out, I didn't have a data analyst mindset.
00:33:43I just kind of went about doing things that I thought was a good idea.
00:33:47Now when I encounter a problem, even outside of data analysis, even in life, but data analysis
00:33:53specific is I have kind of a structured roadmap in my head that I follow almost every time.
00:34:00And so I recommend going and watching that.
00:34:02It's free.
00:34:03It's on YouTube now.
00:34:03It's free.
00:34:05ASMR secondary channel win.
00:34:06If I wanted to, I 100% could do that.
00:34:12I don't personally like ASMR, but I think it would be really fun to do.
00:34:19I would do a deep voice just like this, and we would just talk.
00:34:23And we would chat.
00:34:26Looking good, honey.
00:34:27Hey, that's my wife.
00:34:30Christine is in the chat.
00:34:31Thank you, baby.
00:34:33I hope you support me when I start my ASMR channel.
00:34:38I'm stopping my Alex the Analyst channel.
00:34:41It's now Alex the ASMR channel.
00:34:46Anyways, let's keep going because we're getting off topic here.
00:34:50All right.
00:34:50We got about 20 more minutes or so of questions-ish.
00:34:54Which depends on how many courses we're doing.
00:34:58And then we will do our giveaway.
00:35:02I'm a data entry operator, but when I go for interview because of BA qualification,
00:35:06an interviewer tells me that you're not technical background.
00:35:11You don't have the capability to enroll in the field of data analysts.
00:35:14All right.
00:35:14Well, don't listen to them.
00:35:17Here's what I will say, though, is if you are just a data entry operator and you don't
00:35:22have any of the other skills to become a data analyst, they could be correct.
00:35:26But don't listen to them.
00:35:28Work on your skills, learn the skills, and then apply.
00:35:31Okay?
00:35:33Because data entry, you're getting a good intro into working with data and how data sits
00:35:39in databases, but now you need to act on it.
00:35:41You have to analyze the data, which goes beyond usually what a data entry does.
00:35:46Oh, boy.
00:35:49I got to mute some people.
00:35:52Yeah, I don't know why people spam.
00:35:54I already told you.
00:35:55I'm going to block you.
00:35:56I have the PL300 exam next week.
00:35:58What should I master for the exam?
00:36:00I took that exam.
00:36:01I passed it.
00:36:02Thank goodness.
00:36:04But what should you master for the exam?
00:36:06Just everything.
00:36:09Just everything.
00:36:10Let me look up what's all in it because I forget.
00:36:17Okay, these are just courses for it, but I want to know what's in the actual exam.
00:36:24Okay, so if you don't know what the PL300 is, that is Microsoft's exam for Power BI, essentially.
00:36:31And here's what it measures.
00:36:3325% on preparing the data.
00:36:35So connect to, profile, clean, transform, and load the data using Power Query.
00:36:40Know all of that.
00:36:42Model the data.
00:36:42So designing your data models, creating relationships, writing calculations, and using DAX.
00:36:48Visualize and analyze the data to build reports, design user experiences, and apply formatting or advanced analytics.
00:36:53And then manage and secure Power BI to deploy, maintain, configure, and manage semantic models and security.
00:36:59Yeah, that's what it goes over.
00:37:00It's a lot of stuff.
00:37:01It is great if you don't already have experience in Power BI.
00:37:06When I took this, I had already been using Power BI for like two years.
00:37:09So it wasn't like anything crazy new.
00:37:11If you haven't, there are courses like on Udemy and other places where you can go and take like PL300
00:37:18preps.
00:37:19And I recommend it's like 15 bucks, but it'll save you because if you have to spend 165 bucks again
00:37:25to take this thing,
00:37:27or your company does if they're paying for it, you won't enjoy that.
00:37:30You don't want to do that.
00:37:31So spend the 15 bucks and just prep.
00:37:34But yeah, I took that a couple years ago.
00:37:38I can't even remember.
00:37:39My company paid for it.
00:37:40I didn't pay for it.
00:37:42All right, let's keep going.
00:37:43Ha ha!
00:37:44Falling asleep to your videos is like that.
00:37:47Dexter's lab episode when he had the French test.
00:37:50I don't remember.
00:37:52I used to watch Dexter's laboratory all the time as a kid.
00:37:56I love that show.
00:37:58But I cannot remember that exact episode off the top of my head.
00:38:00You'd have to send me like a link to it or something.
00:38:02I'm sure I'd remember it if I saw it.
00:38:05Hey Alex, could you give us two to three examples of project time frames,
00:38:08what people expect from you when you said time frame?
00:38:11That's a good question.
00:38:12I've never been asked that.
00:38:15All right, I'm going to give you Beginner Alex.
00:38:21This is my project manager.
00:38:22Hey Alex, how long do you think that project's going to take?
00:38:26I'll have it to you by like tomorrow.
00:38:28I'll have it to you tomorrow.
00:38:29I haven't looked at it yet, but I'll have it to you tomorrow.
00:38:32Then tomorrow comes and I literally am just starting to scratch the surface.
00:38:37It's going to be like a three-week job.
00:38:38And then I tell them, oh, hey, it's going to be like three weeks because I didn't know what I
00:38:45was doing.
00:38:46And I actually figured out it's a lot more difficult than I thought it was going to be.
00:38:51That's what you don't want to do.
00:38:52All right, time frames are easier than you would expect.
00:38:59The first thing is when you learn this, as you go, don't start giving time frames until you know what
00:39:04you're doing.
00:39:05Just if you're new to a company, just say, hey, let me look into that.
00:39:08Let me talk to some people, see how long that's going to take, and then I'll get back to you.
00:39:12Perfectly okay to say.
00:39:14For the most part, I like to overshoot projects and then over deliver.
00:39:17For example, I like to say, yeah, they'll take me like two weeks.
00:39:20And then I give it to them next week.
00:39:22So it takes me a week.
00:39:23I like to do that because then I can take on more work.
00:39:27They're going to block out that time on my, you know, if they're doing like Jira or Kanban or, oh
00:39:33my gosh, Agile.
00:39:34I forgot all about that stuff.
00:39:35I haven't done that stuff in years.
00:39:37It's horrible.
00:39:39If you have like points and there's all these things, it's the worst.
00:39:42But they block out that schedule for the next two weeks and then you have two weeks of undivided time.
00:39:46But if you start saying, hey, it's going to take a day two, they're going to start piling you with
00:39:49work and then you can't get it all done and then you fall behind.
00:39:52It's terrible.
00:39:53So over expect your time frames and over deliver.
00:39:59I think I said that right.
00:40:01You know what I mean.
00:40:02Can Analyst Builder take payments from PayPal?
00:40:05In certain areas they can.
00:40:06We use Stripe as our payment method and they sometimes allot PayPal.
00:40:09So you can use a VPN if it's not working in your area.
00:40:13Let's see.
00:40:18Will statistics have value recently or not?
00:40:22I have skills in Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, statistics software like Mini, Tab, Stata, SPSS.
00:40:31What do you, what do you, what I have need to land as data analyst?
00:40:37I couldn't read that last part fluently.
00:40:40Statistics is like a core concept.
00:40:42Here's what I will say.
00:40:43I've always been pretty good at math.
00:40:45Like not trying to toot my own horn.
00:40:46I've just been pretty good at math.
00:40:47When I became a data analyst, I had to learn a ton of stuff.
00:40:53Like just conceptual stuff.
00:40:55Things that you don't learn in like your classic stats course.
00:40:58Like it's stats specific to data.
00:41:02With that being said, just so you know, I just launched a full statistics course on Analyst Builder.
00:41:07So if you want to learn statistics, that's a great place.
00:41:10But, oh, and I'm going to have a statistics series on YouTube launching in like a month.
00:41:15Just finishing out my PostgreSQL series.
00:41:18Anyways, a lot of statistics is not applicable to your everyday work as a data analyst.
00:41:27But what is is really important.
00:41:29It's important that you know it.
00:41:30And when I first started out, I didn't know any of this.
00:41:32I just learned as I went and as I didn't know things, I learned it.
00:41:35But you can get ahead of the curve and already know a lot of these things just by learning statistics.
00:41:41So it's 100% useful, 100% necessary.
00:41:44And I recommend people learn at least the base level of statistics for data in general.
00:41:52What's your favorite end-to-end data stack?
00:41:56I have different data stacks that I use for different purposes.
00:41:59For example, if I'm working with like an immense amount of data.
00:42:02I'm working with a customer that's, you know, their website.
00:42:06Let's say it's just website data because you can generate a lot of it very quickly.
00:42:09They're getting hundreds of thousands of visits a day or a week.
00:42:13And you're needing to process this and use it.
00:42:17Then I'm probably not going to be using like your classic SQL.
00:42:22I'm going to be using some type of, you know, I'm probably going to use it through like Azure.
00:42:27I like Azure.
00:42:28You could use AWS.
00:42:29You could use Databricks for all I care.
00:42:30But I have a lot of experience using Azure.
00:42:33I'm really good at those workflows.
00:42:35So I'd probably set everything up in Azure.
00:42:37Now within Azure, it depends on like what you want to do with the data in your stack and whatnot.
00:42:45But if you're talking just like at like a normal company that's not working with like that much data,
00:42:50that much processing that they're going to be doing.
00:42:54Like if it's like I'm working with like healthcare data.
00:42:56They have an EHR.
00:42:56They're sending us a file like every day or every week and we're processing it.
00:43:00It's a lot of SQL.
00:43:01I love SQL.
00:43:03SQL can do so much.
00:43:04You can incorporate with a lot of things.
00:43:07You can have all these systems and store procedures and everything in place.
00:43:11You need to do a lot of the heavy lifting and processing.
00:43:13For example, if they're sending a flat file or maybe a database backup, you're picking that up using SQL.
00:43:20And you're ingesting that data using SQL.
00:43:22And then you are, you know, cleaning that data, believe it or not, using SQL.
00:43:28And after that, you know, I like to connect it to if you're a Microsoft shop, Power BI is great.
00:43:33If not, sure, Tableau.
00:43:34But Tableau is more expensive for the most part, depending on how big your company is.
00:43:42So if you're just keeping it simple, sure, just like Excel, SQL, and like a Power BI, you can get
00:43:47a lot done with just those tools.
00:43:50As you get bigger, as your company has more money and resources, there are better tech stacks.
00:43:55But I personally just, it's great.
00:43:58But I've, like, I do a lot of consulting.
00:44:00There are some consulting people that I'm just like, Databricks, that's all you need.
00:44:04All you need is Databricks.
00:44:05Just use Databricks.
00:44:05And you can do everything you want.
00:44:08So, yeah, good question.
00:44:09I've used a lot of tools in my day.
00:44:13And so it changes based off of budget and need and where your data sits and what you're trying to
00:44:20do with it.
00:44:20It changes widely.
00:44:23Can you, this is from Little Explorer Diary.
00:44:26Hey, Alex, can you please provide top five skills on resume that would help to land a job as a
00:44:30data analyst?
00:44:31All right, so if you're looking just at tools, then you're going to want to have SQL, Excel, Power BI,
00:44:37Tableau, Python, AWS, Azure.
00:44:39Those are, like, the tools.
00:44:41But top five skills, skills are different, right?
00:44:44I would say when I'm looking at a resume, and I used to be a hiring manager, so I looked
00:44:49at a lot of resumes.
00:44:50I would say that I'm looking for one experience.
00:44:53If you already have experience, that's an amazing thing.
00:44:57Have I hired people with no experience?
00:44:59Sure, but it's rarer.
00:45:03Like, experience goes a long way.
00:45:05Even if you don't have any experience having projects, building projects, showing that you can talk about it and build
00:45:11it and actually do it, that's, like, your next best thing.
00:45:14So if you have experience, that's the best thing on your resume.
00:45:16If you don't have experience, build projects.
00:45:20Build things to showcase that you actually know what you're talking about.
00:45:24And then the skills are next.
00:45:26You know, the person has to have the skills that we're looking for.
00:45:28I used to hire, I needed a ServiceNow developer.
00:45:33If you don't know what ServiceNow is, it's a Microsoft tool.
00:45:36I needed a ServiceNow developer.
00:45:38It's hard to find a good ServiceNow developer.
00:45:41It just is.
00:45:42And so, you know, we had to search around for a good ServiceNow developer.
00:45:46And so, you know, that's what I would recommend.
00:45:51Those are good skills to have.
00:45:53What's your advice for someone who is a career changer?
00:45:56I've just completed a data engineering boot camp.
00:45:59I'm not feeling so confident about it.
00:46:00I am building my own projects at the moment.
00:46:02First off, I hope that data engineering boot camp was a good boot camp.
00:46:10And I hope you didn't pay too much for it.
00:46:13Boot camps these days, I've been warning against them for a long time.
00:46:17There's only a handful that I used to recommend, and they've even changed their policies over the year.
00:46:21They used to guarantee jobs.
00:46:23And if you didn't, you got your money back.
00:46:25That's how a lot of boot camps worked.
00:46:26There's only a tiny handful that still do that.
00:46:30And ones that I endorsed in the past, no longer offer them.
00:46:33I won't endorse them anymore because they charge like $10,000
00:46:37and do not guarantee any type of job allocation, job helping, anything like that.
00:46:42So if you got into one of those, I apologize.
00:46:44I hope you, or if you didn't get into one of those, I apologize.
00:46:47I hope you didn't just learn the skills and then pay like $10,000
00:46:51because that's a waste of money.
00:46:52I hope that didn't happen.
00:46:55If you're trying to change careers and you went through a boot camp, though,
00:46:57you're already there.
00:46:58You already paid it.
00:46:59You're already where you are.
00:47:01Then, yeah, build projects.
00:47:03Start networking.
00:47:04Start reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn and on job platforms.
00:47:09And locally, you can find them, you know, even in local and ask to meet.
00:47:15Start reaching out to real human beings.
00:47:18Do not just randomly apply to jobs online.
00:47:20You will not get traction.
00:47:22It's just not going to happen.
00:47:28Are these skills transferable to other fields?
00:47:32Absolutely.
00:47:35100%.
00:47:37And these skills are, or other skills in other fields are transferable to data
00:47:42analytics.
00:47:43And so, you know, where I'm at now with my skills, because I've been, you know,
00:47:4910 years in the field and doing a lot of consulting and doing a lot of things,
00:47:53my skills are transferable to a lot of different jobs now.
00:47:56I have a plethora of jobs I can look at and apply for and I could do if I was
00:48:00trying to get a full-time job.
00:48:03Because of, especially in the consulting that I do, I get exposed to a ton of
00:48:08different tools, a lot of different companies and data and different things.
00:48:13And so you learn, you learn these different jobs.
00:48:16And so you just need to get in there, learn the skills, and you'll start looking
00:48:19around.
00:48:19You're like, oh my goodness, that person does something like 50% of what I do,
00:48:23but in a different way.
00:48:24That person does 60% of what I do, but in a different way.
00:48:27This person works in accounting and they use some of the tools I use.
00:48:29It's like, how weird is that?
00:48:31It's very transferable.
00:48:34The Wealth Playbook TV.
00:48:35I'm registered in your Analyst Builder website.
00:48:37It's top-notch.
00:48:38My goal is more hands-on since I have theory for my master's in data science
00:48:42specialization.
00:48:44We just launched a huge, huge upgrade to Analyst Builder.
00:48:49And we have some huge things coming towards the end of this year, like soon,
00:48:53within the next like three months.
00:48:55Some new tools and ways to learn, and I'm not going to spoil it because I don't
00:48:59want to, I want it to be a big surprise, but it's going to be awesome.
00:49:03I highly recommend, we have several different roadmaps.
00:49:08There's a data analyst roadmap, analytics engineering roadmap, an advanced data
00:49:14analyst roadmap.
00:49:15I highly recommend doing those roadmaps because they'll kind of structure you
00:49:19in your learning and kind of take you through exactly what you need to learn.
00:49:23All right, let's keep going down.
00:49:27All right, there's a lot of Analyst Builder questions.
00:49:29I've talked a lot about Analyst Builder.
00:49:32This is not any type of Analyst Builder promotion, and so I, you know, don't want
00:49:36to hark on it too much.
00:49:41Someone said $10,000 is a scam.
00:49:43$10,000 is a scam.
00:49:45It is, but people will pay it because they just don't know.
00:49:48You know, they don't know.
00:49:49The giveaway is at the end, in about 10 minutes.
00:49:52I'm going to be giving away free Analyst Builder courses.
00:49:54Those are my full courses that I have made.
00:49:57I'm giving them away for free.
00:49:59You just got to stick around.
00:50:00I'll show you how to do that.
00:50:00Not everyone's going to win, of course, but, you know, I'll be doing a giveaway at
00:50:05the end.
00:50:07ServiceNow.
00:50:08Okay, someone just said, oh, ServiceNow.
00:50:10Note it down.
00:50:12ServiceNow is a niche tool, all right?
00:50:14That's what I was talking about.
00:50:15There's so many tools within just data.
00:50:19There's thousands, genuinely.
00:50:21ServiceNow was one that I used for about two years.
00:50:24You don't have to learn it.
00:50:26Don't learn ServiceNow.
00:50:27It's not like something that I think is going to be a competitive edge unless a company
00:50:32uses ServiceNow, which are not a ton of companies that you're going to find, in my opinion.
00:50:36But I'm just saying, when I worked with ServiceNow, it was harder to find a developer.
00:50:41And so the people who did have those skills, they got interviews because there's not a
00:50:44lot of people who are ServiceNow developers.
00:50:47So if you have those niche skills, great.
00:50:49If not, I wouldn't recommend learning it just like for no reason.
00:50:53Give me a second.
00:51:01How to start freelancing?
00:51:03Good question.
00:51:04Um, so freelancing is when you offer your skills for a price, just with no huge, uh,
00:51:14commitment, right?
00:51:15They can just hire you for one project or they can hire you to come in and do one thing.
00:51:20Here's the thing about freelancing.
00:51:21Freelancing is, um, and I do consulting slash freelancing.
00:51:26I call everything I do consulting, but I could, you absolutely could dump some of what I do
00:51:31as freelancing.
00:51:32If you don't already know it well, almost no one is going to hire you as a freelancer.
00:51:38It's going to be very difficult.
00:51:39You're going to have to get really lucky or just do things that nobody wants to do.
00:51:45Like, you know, I don't know what nobody wants to do, but there's a lot of people out there
00:51:50who want to do like the really technical stuff, but there might just be boring stuff that they're
00:51:56going to ask you to do.
00:51:56Hey, come in and manually change all these things.
00:51:59And then I'm like, that's not data analysis.
00:52:01That's not good.
00:52:02Um, or, you know, I don't even know.
00:52:05I can't even come up with examples.
00:52:07I'm just saying it's not good.
00:52:09I would highly recommend getting a job, learning some type of domain, getting a specialty and
00:52:13some type of tool to then go in freelance.
00:52:16Don't just say, Hey, I know SQL, Excel, Python, somebody use these skills.
00:52:21I don't think it's going to go well.
00:52:24Oh, Jesus.
00:52:25Skip down.
00:52:25Give me a sec.
00:52:32I talked about AI a lot throughout this live stream.
00:52:35Just go back and watch it.
00:52:36Uh, if you want to meet, I talk about a lot of AI, about AI, so I'm not going to
00:52:40keep talking
00:52:41about it, how do you reach out to job recruiters and data and, uh, for data analyst jobs?
00:52:49Um, I have whole videos on YouTube, whole videos on YouTube, how to work with recruiters
00:52:55on LinkedIn.
00:52:56That's a video.
00:52:57Like that's the title of the video.
00:52:58Go check that one out.
00:52:59Um, basically it comes down to doing a little bit of research, crafting a good message, writing
00:53:06a good message and being consistent and, and, you know, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um,
00:53:11kind of, I don't know.
00:53:13It's just having a good mindset of you're not going to land a job right away and to keep
00:53:17going, uh, be persistent.
00:53:27Someone was just saying, thank you for answering your question.
00:53:29You're welcome.
00:53:30You're welcome.
00:53:32Alex, are you hiring right now?
00:53:34What roles are available on your team?
00:53:36EA lure, Lori.
00:53:38Uh, no, we are not hiring.
00:53:39Uh, I have, uh, a fantastic team for analyst builder, um, analyst builder.
00:53:46We have designers and we have engineers and, uh, all sorts of people who do things that
00:53:53I can't do.
00:53:53Uh, if you've watched any of the videos with Kasun, uh, Kasun Vithnage, he is basically
00:53:59like the man behind analyst builder.
00:54:03I'm the content guy.
00:54:04I create all the content, but him and his team build out all of the stuff.
00:54:07They have a full team.
00:54:08We got like eight people on the team.
00:54:11So it's like, no, we don't have anybody there.
00:54:13For my consulting, I have brought people on before to do some of my consulting and it did
00:54:18not go well.
00:54:19Now here's why.
00:54:20When people reach out to Alex analytics consulting, weirdly enough, they want me, they want Alex.
00:54:28So then when I say, Hey, this is outside of my scope or Hey, you know, I, I don't have
00:54:33time to take on your project.
00:54:35Here's another person.
00:54:36They usually don't want that.
00:54:37Like they want me.
00:54:39It's an, it's an, it's, it's a very strange part of the business is they don't want someone
00:54:44else.
00:54:45And so hiring somebody on, uh, to be on my consulting part of my consulting business just
00:54:50does not work.
00:54:51It doesn't.
00:54:57Mr. Priyanshu Patel, how to reach the humans by cold mailing.
00:55:01Go and watch that video.
00:55:03Go and watch the video.
00:55:05Somebody just said, Hey Alex, what do you say about your book beyond the?
00:55:09Oh yeah.
00:55:10Here we go.
00:55:14I wrote a book.
00:55:15It's really good.
00:55:16Um, it's on Amazon.
00:55:18I don't know if it's in the description or not, but it's on Amazon.
00:55:20That's called beyond the interview.
00:55:23That's my name.
00:55:23I wrote it.
00:55:24Um, this is like, once you get a job, this is like everything you need to know and do
00:55:32to be really successful.
00:55:35If you haven't read it, go read it.
00:55:36I've had lots of people send me screenshots or like pictures of them reading this.
00:55:39I think it's super cool.
00:55:40Um, I'm going to write another one, not like this, but I'm going to write another book.
00:55:45Um, but I have ideas, but I haven't started it yet.
00:55:51Uh, that is the very first copy that was ever made.
00:55:54I'm going to keep that one as like a keepsake for when I'm old.
00:55:57Okay.
00:55:57I wrote a book, kiddos.
00:55:59And they're like, nobody reads books, grandpa.
00:56:01People haven't been reading books for like 50 years.
00:56:03Like get out of here.
00:56:05Um, anyways, great book.
00:56:07Highly recommend reading it.
00:56:08Purely because I talk all about my experience and other people's experiences on what to
00:56:14do when you get a job.
00:56:15Like the first 30, 60, 90 days, how to influence people, how to stay out of office politics
00:56:19or use office politics in a healthy way.
00:56:21Um, and it's just, I, I really think it's, it's really great.
00:56:26I should do giveaways for those too.
00:56:28Should do that.
00:56:31Can you make a video of where you show, where you build a project using SQL power BI and Python?
00:56:35Go on my YouTube channel.
00:56:37Cause I have all those, I have projects in all of those and many, many, many, many, many,
00:56:41many more.
00:56:43Um, all right, let's see.
00:56:45We got about one or two more questions and then, uh, we're going to be doing our giveaway
00:56:50real quick.
00:56:51What watch are you wearing right now?
00:56:53This is one of my favorite watches.
00:56:55It is also my cheapest watch.
00:56:57I, this is a, um, it's a Casio G-Shock.
00:57:01It's, um, here, I'll hold it up real quick.
00:57:04This watch cost me about 45 bucks.
00:57:07Um, it is waterproof.
00:57:09So I go swimming with this all the time.
00:57:13There we go.
00:57:15I have a whole watch collection.
00:57:17If you didn't know, before I started YouTube as Alex the Analyst, I had another YouTube
00:57:20channel called the Berg Source.
00:57:23This is my last name is Freeberg.
00:57:25It was called the Berg Source.
00:57:26I still have my videos up where I was reviewing watches, um, but I didn't have money enough
00:57:30to actually buy more watches and like make that channel bigger or get the production quality
00:57:36better.
00:57:37It was really bad.
00:57:39Anyways.
00:57:40All right, guys.
00:57:42Um, let me pull this up.
00:57:47Let me switch to this.
00:57:49All right.
00:57:50Real quick.
00:57:50I want to make sure you guys can see what I'm seeing.
00:57:53I'm going to be doing the giveaway.
00:57:55Uh, this is, oh, let's go live here.
00:57:58Let's see live.
00:57:59There we go.
00:58:01Let's, I'm just going to make sure it's working.
00:58:03All right.
00:58:03You can see all the comments here.
00:58:06There we go.
00:58:07All right.
00:58:09Here's how this is going to work.
00:58:11You need to sign up.
00:58:12By the way, this is our last day of our sale.
00:58:15So if you want to buy anything, go for it.
00:58:16You don't have to though.
00:58:17So here's the, how the giveaway works.
00:58:19You need to go to courses.
00:58:21You need to have an account.
00:58:22First off, go to courses and choose any course you want.
00:58:26Like, oh, you're like, oh, I really want, uh, this cloud computing one.
00:58:31This is the one I want.
00:58:33Oh, geez.
00:58:33No, wait.
00:58:34Sorry, guys.
00:58:34I'm totally wrong.
00:58:38One second.
00:58:39What, where is our, sorry, we changed our, um, we changed, we just changed.
00:58:47I, I'm having trouble navigating.
00:58:49I'm sorry.
00:58:49You actually have to go here.
00:58:50Uh, so we changed our UI and I'm still learning it.
00:58:56Uh, not learning it.
00:58:57I'm still, I'm forgetting pricing used to be right here, but we put pricing over here.
00:59:02So go to pricing and go to courses.
00:59:04Choose any course that you want.
00:59:07You're like, oh, I really want this cloud computing one.
00:59:10Click the buy.
00:59:11You do not have to buy this.
00:59:13Oops.
00:59:13Don't.
00:59:14That's whoopsie.
00:59:16Um, you do not have to buy this, but you're going to add a promotion code.
00:59:21And then I'm going to give you the code in just a little bit.
00:59:24And you're going to say, oh, it's hello.
00:59:26You're going to apply it.
00:59:28It's will go to zero.
00:59:31Oops.
00:59:31And then you click buy.
00:59:32I just accidentally clicked something, but then you click.
00:59:34And when you do that, it's going to purchase it for zero dollars.
00:59:39Okay.
00:59:41So that's what you want to do.
00:59:44Now I'm going to go back to me.
00:59:47Hello.
00:59:48I'm going to go back to me.
00:59:49I'm going to go and create the code.
00:59:51The reason I'm creating the code now is because some very smart people sometimes guess what
00:59:58the code is before.
00:59:59I've had people do that.
01:00:00It's really impressive, but also very frustrating, as you can imagine.
01:00:05Um, let's, so go ahead and do that.
01:00:08I'm going to get it pulled up on my side note.
01:00:12Wrong browser.
01:00:13Too many browsers going on.
01:00:17There it is.
01:00:18All right.
01:00:21So let me pull this back up.
01:00:25We're doing the giveaway now.
01:00:28So be sure to have whatever course you want pulled up.
01:00:32I'm about to give you a code.
01:00:35And then you are going to use that code.
01:00:39If you don't get it, like if you redeem it, it goes to zero and you try to click pay
01:00:43and
01:00:43it says, oh, it didn't work.
01:00:44Somebody else got it.
01:00:46That's just how it goes.
01:00:47Um, yes, they are hacking into my mind.
01:00:51They genuinely do.
01:00:52Like some of these, some, some of you know me a little too well and they were guessing
01:00:58what I was going to put as the code.
01:01:01And, and this was before the, like, uh, this is like as the live stream was going on, people
01:01:05were guessing it.
01:01:06You know, the jalapeno, banana, random stuff.
01:01:08And I'm like, how did you get this?
01:01:10How do you get, how do you know this?
01:01:12All right.
01:01:12This first one, I'm going to have it.
01:01:15Two people be able to redeem this.
01:01:18Okay.
01:01:19So two people will be able to redeem this one.
01:01:24And let's write out the code right now.
01:01:26And I'll tell you what it is.
01:01:28Uh, I'm just going to look around the room.
01:01:36All right.
01:01:37I just created the code.
01:01:39And if you guessed it was G-Shock, all one word in all caps, you were correct.
01:01:44Because that is the code.
01:01:46So the code is G-Shock.
01:01:49One word, all caps.
01:01:51Bam.
01:01:54Go ahead and use that.
01:01:55You can get any course you want.
01:01:56I don't care.
01:01:57Whichever one you want.
01:01:59But only two people get it.
01:02:01So you just got to beat them out.
01:02:02The next one, I'm going to do another two.
01:02:05We're going to give away 10 total courses.
01:02:0810 total courses.
01:02:14Um, all right.
01:02:15The next one is ready.
01:02:16Two people can get this one.
01:02:18And the code is friendship.
01:02:22Because we are friends.
01:02:27All right.
01:02:28Two people have already redeemed the G-Shock.
01:02:31Let's see if they're going to redeem the friendship.
01:02:35G-Shock's gone.
01:02:37That's gone.
01:02:38It's not even close.
01:02:40It says Nick and, uh, who, no.
01:02:43Stan.
01:02:45And Nick.
01:02:48You know, Stan and Nick.
01:02:50Those are the people who got the first ones.
01:02:52Congrats.
01:02:52Hey, if you did win it, please let me know which one you actually got.
01:02:59I would be very curious.
01:03:03All right.
01:03:04I hate to do this.
01:03:05Got to put you in a timeout.
01:03:06I hate to do it.
01:03:07Yeah, you're gone.
01:03:08All right.
01:03:09Um, we're going to do six more.
01:03:13We're going to do three and three.
01:03:14All right.
01:03:14The friendship one, that's gone.
01:03:16All right.
01:03:16You have two more chances.
01:03:18This one has three people can get this one.
01:03:22This one is going to be...
01:03:32live, all caps, because this is a live stream.
01:03:35It just makes sense.
01:03:36You didn't guess it.
01:03:37You didn't guess it.
01:03:39I just created it.
01:03:41Yeah.
01:03:42Um, then we're going to do one more.
01:03:45All right.
01:03:46Friendship's gone.
01:03:47G-Shock is gone.
01:03:48We got live, and then we got one more for three.
01:03:51Boom.
01:03:55All right.
01:03:56Give me a sec.
01:04:05All right.
01:04:05The next one, all caps.
01:04:09No one would have guessed this one.
01:04:11I-L-Y-S-M.
01:04:13I love you so much.
01:04:14Little acronym just for you.
01:04:17Just for you.
01:04:20Keep that between us.
01:04:22And I can't wait until you get that code.
01:04:27Whoever redeems it.
01:04:28And if you do redeem it,
01:04:31then please, please let me know what course you got.
01:04:35Uh, website link.
01:04:37I came late.
01:04:38Sorry, if you can't, it's gone.
01:04:39They're gone.
01:04:40We just finished.
01:04:41You had to come earlier.
01:04:43I'm sorry.
01:04:44I'm sorry, ReboPlays.
01:04:46Uh, I will be doing another live stream.
01:04:48I'll be doing more live streams.
01:04:50Just come earlier, because I, yeah.
01:04:52The giveaway's gone.
01:04:53They're gone.
01:04:54The codes are gone.
01:04:58Yeah, they're all redeemed.
01:04:59All right.
01:05:00Listen.
01:05:01If you did not get one, you didn't get a free course, I'm sorry.
01:05:06But you can still get a free course from Analyst Builder.
01:05:10Down in the description, it says, get one week free for new members.
01:05:14So if you sign up right now for Analyst Builder, it's your first time signing up,
01:05:17you will get one week, and you can absolutely finish, like, one or two full courses.
01:05:23Okay?
01:05:23So if you, uh, use that link and sign up, bam, you can take a free course.
01:05:28And then just cancel it so you don't have to pay for it.
01:05:32That's all you have to do.
01:05:33If you're already a member, and you do want to buy a course,
01:05:36you can get 35% off using 35 off, uh, the 35 off code.
01:05:41So, you know, there's the consolation prize.
01:05:44Some people won, some people didn't.
01:05:46That happens.
01:05:47That's life.
01:05:48But if you got it, please let me know which one you got.
01:05:52Somebody said, got, yeah, if you got it invalid,
01:05:54that just means that somebody else got it too quick.
01:05:57There's some fast people here, man.
01:05:59Poor girl.
01:06:00If you got, someone down there says they got one.
01:06:03Awesome.
01:06:04If you, if you got one, please take it, really use it.
01:06:09Um, I mean, these courses, I put a lot of love into these courses.
01:06:13I want you to just learn whatever skill, whatever you got,
01:06:17like, really hunker down and take it.
01:06:20And you have it forever.
01:06:21You're going to have access to that forever.
01:06:23So I hope that that, I hope that that helps.
01:06:26Um, should have seen the G shot coming?
01:06:28You should have.
01:06:29I usually use some type of keyword from the live stream.
01:06:32Um, but, you know, it is what it is.
01:06:35Uh, with that being said, we're done with the live stream.
01:06:38I'm going to probably just chill for a second.
01:06:40Hang out with you guys.
01:06:41What are these text messages?
01:06:44What are these text messages?
01:06:47Oh, I thought it was my wife.
01:06:49It's not my wife.
01:06:52All right.
01:06:53Well, that's okay.
01:06:54I think she just got home too.
01:06:56Cause the dog started going crazy a little bit ago.
01:07:00What to talk about?
01:07:01Oh, what's been going on in my life?
01:07:03Just been coaching my kids soccer.
01:07:05That's been fun.
01:07:09Um, let's see.
01:07:12Been swimming.
01:07:14It's hot.
01:07:15It is hot here in South Carolina.
01:07:17It's very hot.
01:07:18And so I've been, uh,
01:07:21I've been trying to stay out of the heat or swim.
01:07:24How do you get the one week access?
01:07:25It's down in the description.
01:07:26There's a little, you just click on it.
01:07:29Boom.
01:07:29Um, you get a week free.
01:07:31Pretty cool.
01:07:33You can do everything on the platform.
01:07:34It's like you have full access for a week.
01:07:36You can take all the courses in one week.
01:07:39It's true.
01:07:41Uh, talk about chat GPT Astra.
01:07:44Can it take data analyst jobs?
01:07:45I mean, I haven't seen anything that's taken data analyst jobs yet.
01:07:50Uh, I, I guess we'll see once they, once they release their AGI model and then we all
01:07:56have AGI in our pockets, every job will become useless.
01:08:00If data analyst jobs are automated by AI, just about all jobs on computers will be automated
01:08:08by AI.
01:08:09There's going to be mass, mass, mass unemployment.
01:08:11It's going to be horrible.
01:08:12Uh, no, I don't see that happening, uh, soon if I'm being honest.
01:08:16Uh, genuinely, if we start seeing that, I will let you know.
01:08:21I will be the first to make a video on it.
01:08:23But I haven't seen anything that I'm like even super worried about.
01:08:27It's just the data, data space has been changing, but there's still so much need.
01:08:32Trust me.
01:08:33For people who know what they're doing.
01:08:35Do you write SQL queries in MySQL mostly?
01:08:39Uh, PostgreSQL, I may use more.
01:08:43Just depends.
01:08:45And sometimes I work with clients who have like Microsoft Shop or, you know, they use
01:08:49Microsoft SQL Server.
01:08:53Uh, can you suggest data sets to practice on?
01:08:56Absolutely.
01:08:56I have hundreds of data sets.
01:08:58Uh, I have, you can also go on Analyst Builder.
01:09:01We have projects page that's totally free.
01:09:03Anybody can go and you can get all the data sets and all the prompts and everything you
01:09:07need to build projects.
01:09:08You can also go to, uh, data.gov or Kaggle to get data sets.
01:09:12Those are great places too.
01:09:17Any word on Microsoft Fabric?
01:09:20I am not running to my computer yet to, to, um, to record my Microsoft Fabric stuff.
01:09:29It's kind of on the back burner.
01:09:31Maybe like early next year.
01:09:33I just have a lot more other things that I think are more important than Microsoft Fabric
01:09:37if I'm being honest.
