Tesla’s robotaxis are finally on the road, and the launch is already sparking big questions about safety, regulation, and what comes next for autonomous ride-hailing. The Cyber Cab is now available through Tesla’s app in select cities, alongside the Model Y robotaxi option and a soon-coming robo van designed for larger groups and accessibility.

The discussion also covers the federal investigation into Tesla’s Cyber Cab deployment, including the role of self-certification and why regulators are watching closely. From there, the focus shifts to Nvidia’s reported $12.9 billion move to buy Hugging Face, a major AI platform often described as the GitHub of machine learning, before ending with Apple’s new foldable iPhone Duo and its $2,000 starting price.

It’s a fast-paced tech news and commentary roundup covering EVs, autonomous vehicles, AI acquisitions, and the latest iPhone launch. If you follow Tesla robotaxis, Cyber Cab updates, Nvidia and Hugging Face news, Apple foldable phone rumors, or broader technology and AI industry analysis, this episode brings the biggest stories together in one place.

Ideal for listeners searching for tech news commentary, autonomous vehicle updates, Tesla robotaxi coverage, AI industry news, Nvidia acquisition analysis, and iPhone Duo details. It also fits searches for current affairs in consumer tech, electric vehicles, machine learning platforms, and future mobility trends.

00:00Hello everybody, there's a lot that's been going on in this past week.
00:03We're going to talk about a few of those things.
00:04The first thing being that Tesla has finally launched their RoboTaxis.
00:08You can see it right here on their website.
00:10This is the CyberCab, this is their RoboTaxi.
00:13And you can actually download this app right here to get one.
00:17Now if we scroll down, this is of course what it looks like.
00:21Looks really cool, interesting about the doors by the way.
00:25I'll talk about that in a little bit.
00:26But this is just like an Uber ride.
00:28You're going to basically use your app.
00:31You're going to call your CyberCab.
00:33It's going to come pick you up and bring you to where it needs to go.
00:37Interestingly enough, what I've heard about these doors from a lot of different people
00:41is that the doors open really awkwardly.
00:43They don't minimize the distance that they come out.
00:46So they actually kind of go into traffic.
00:48If you are on the right side of a road, it'll kind of go into traffic a little bit.
00:52Which makes it difficult to open.
00:53But let's keep scrolling anyways.
00:55Anyways, just so you know, these cars cannot be driven like a normal car.
00:59So like if you get in the car, even on the driver's side, it's not even going to have
01:02a steering wheel.
01:03You can't just get in there and drive it like a normal car.
01:07So just something to note.
01:08But if you come in here, they have right here, they have the Model Y.
01:11And they have the CyberCab.
01:13The CyberCab is a lot smaller.
01:15And this is mostly for like two people or a single person getting picked up.
01:19Then you have your Model Y.
01:20It's up to four passengers.
01:21Of course, it has four doors now.
01:23And then there's something interesting, and I didn't hear a ton about this, at least
01:27not for the launch at least, is they have something called a RoboVan.
01:32This is arriving soon.
01:33This is not something that is available yet.
01:35But this has autonomous microtransit suitable for large groups and designed for accessibility.
01:40I'm just going to imagine it can fit about the same amount of people as a regular minivan.
01:44Maybe it's going to be more.
01:45Maybe it'll be like 12 people, which would be a lot.
01:48But this design is just wild.
01:50I mean, this is nothing like anything they have.
01:54This is just a wild design.
01:55We will see how this looks.
01:57Now, you will note that autonomous robo-taxi rides are currently being offered only in Austin,
02:03Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.
02:07So only Texas and Florida.
02:09As a person who just loves tech and technology and this type of things, I think this is amazing.
02:14At the same time, this is like really futuristic, right?
02:19Like these are the things that we thought might happen in our lifetime at some point.
02:23I thought maybe when I was old.
02:25But it's happening.
02:26My in-laws live out in Dallas.
02:28So I guarantee you he's seeing these right now.
02:31I'm going to give him a call after this.
02:32But I guarantee you he's seeing these.
02:34And this is happening even within his generation.
02:36And so it's just really interesting how fast things have gone.
02:40With that being said, with this futuristic tech, especially not having a steering wheel
02:44or a way to brake or other things that normal cars would have, it's come under fire.
02:50You can see right here it says Fed launches investigation into Tesla's cyber cab deployment.
02:55Now this comes from the National...
