00:11Sunderland City Council backed the plans which form part of the government's school rebuilding
00:17programme. The project includes a new teaching block, refurbished sports hall, football pitch,
00:23athletics track and extra parking, while older buildings will be demolished in phases.
00:28School leaders say the ageing site has struggled with flooding and costly repairs and that the
00:34investment will provide children with modern facilities. Planners said concerns from nearby
00:40residents were considered before permission was granted.
