00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today.
00:03I'm Akshita Nandikopal. As always, over the next one hour, we'll get you all of the top stories
00:09that we're tracking this Monday evening.
00:11But what do we have in store for you on this edition of Super 6?
00:14Well, we'll first focus on the D.K. Shriv Kumar cabinet expansion.
00:18It's been delayed and delayed non-stop.
00:22The cabinet expansion finally happened today.
00:24But we're calling this the cabinet of confusion.
00:27Why? I'll explain to you in just a bit.
00:31Because the last 24 hours has been a dramatic one for D.K. Shriv Kumar.
00:36Also coming up on the show, we'll focus on what's happening in Tamil Nadu.
00:40You had the leader of opposition, DMK leader Uday Niti Stalin, holding this massive event,
00:44targeting the Vijay government over the Cauvery crisis and their handling.
00:48But then it got rather ugly, personal and downright obscene.
00:54Where Uday Niti Stalin, mind you, the leader of opposition, fired at actor Trisha.
01:00And it was absolutely, downright disappointing.
01:03The kind of words, the kind of language that was used against a woman.
01:06We'll talk about that and how parties have reacted to their comment made by Uday Niti Stalin.
01:11I'm Akshita Nandikopal. Here are the headlines first.
01:18Last minute confusion.
01:20Mars, Karnataka cabinet expansion.
01:2220 names cleared, but only 19 ministers take oath.
01:25Rebellion results in at least three MLA's tendering their resignation.
01:34Rashaanth Kishore breaches three decades-old BJP bastion wins Bankipur Assembly Bipur by almost 19,000 votes.
01:43Speaking to India today, PK lashes out to Bihar Chief Minister Samra Chaudhary.
02:02High stakes assembly, Bipur's end in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat as well.
02:07BJP retains Manjurpoor seat in Gujarat.
02:09Congress wins Madhya Pradesh's Dhatia by over 6,000 votes.
02:18Delhi court acquits former Wrestling Federation of India Chief Bridge Bush and Shanan Singh in sexual harassment case filed by
02:25six women wrestlers.
02:32RSS speaks out on students' protests led by CJP calls Jantar Mantar protesters anti-national, claims foreign elements infiltrated protests.
02:40CJP hits back, says RSS has no moral right to call anyone anti-national.
02:46The government of Gandhi has no moral right to call any other anti-national.
02:51In this country, I was the first one who was anti-national.
02:53So, I'm from Nathuram Gorsh.
02:58Our top focus this evening is on the much-awaited Karnataka cabinet expansion.
03:03I'm calling it the cabinet of confusion though.
03:06Why?
03:06Because in the last 24 hours, there's been an absolute political circus.
03:10Nothing short of that that's played out.
03:12What do I mean?
03:14This morning, there was a list that came out of the names who are going to be inducted to the
03:18cabinet and then slowly changes started being made.
03:21For example, the name of a congress leader, Vaidya, was in the list and then it was removed.
03:26The AICC claimed it was a typing error in the list.
03:30So, you'd think it was a similar name maybe that was brought in and introduced by mistake.
03:34Not at all.
03:35RSS, Malik Arjun was brought in.
03:36Vaidya removed.
03:37Malik Arjun brought in.
03:39And all of this pointed towards a typing error.
03:42That's what was told.
03:43The second, senior leaders of the congress, MLAs, are now starting to resign, openly speaking out about the exclusion, about
03:52the content, the disappointment they're feeling.
03:55Because they say that they got an assurance from senior leaders in the Karnataka congress.
03:59So, is there a disconnect between what AICC has put out and what KPCC thought would be the list?
04:05And as a result of that endless confusion again within the KPCC, within the Karnataka congress, three MLAs have expressed
04:13their disappointment, have openly said that they are unhappy.
04:18And so much so that there's even been a self-immolation bid over the fact that the names that were
04:23expected weren't there.
04:25What did we hear all along about this cabinet expansion?
04:28You'll see a lot of young faces.
04:30You'll see women representation because that's not been there so far.
04:33Now, guess what?
04:34Twenty names were supposed to take oath as ministers.
04:37Only 19 took oath because the last name on that list, the only woman in the cabinet who was supposed
04:45to be in the Karnataka cabinet, dropped from the list because of confusion.
04:48What do I mean?
04:49Gayatri was brought in.
04:50She's not even an MLC yet.
04:52She won by a court order.
04:53So, swearing-in is yet to take place.
04:55And yet you have several other leaders, Motama, Lakshmi, Hibalkar, to just name a few, who were also minister hopefuls.
05:01None of them were inducted.
05:03Instead, Gayatri was brought in, leading to again rebellion.
05:05And so, the high commander to go back on the decision, she wasn't sworn in.
05:10So, again, confusion there.
05:11Ultimately, there's no woman representation in the cabinet.
05:15The oath timing, and this speaks volumes.
05:17It's not just a question of a delay, but the invites at 4 or 5 p.m.
05:21And then the entire event got pushed by one hour.
05:25Why?
05:25Because of all of the confusion, the back and forth, the AICC list coming out, names being removed, some being
05:31told you'll be sworn in, some being told not really.
05:34This is truly the cabinet of confusion.
05:37And you'd think that everything would be sorted, considering it's taken so long for D.K. Shiv Kumar to get
05:43his team together.
05:44Considering it's taken so long for the Congress High Command to pick these names.
05:48The two-month wait has culminated in all of this chaos and confusion.
05:53There's nothing short of a political storm right now in Karnataka.
05:57D.K. Shiv Kumar himself conceded that there's been chaos.
06:00He's conceded that, yes, not everyone's happy.
06:03His advice?
06:04Be patient.
06:05I was patient.
06:06It paid off to everyone, he says.
06:08Be patient.
06:09Not really the case.
06:10Because most leaders have now hit the streets.
06:12There are protests taking place.
06:14And this is now effectively Congress versus Congress.
07:02Watch the streets.
07:04State-level or national-level leaders have talked to us and gave us a new decision today.
07:12Before the 23rd election, they have given word for me.
07:15This time we will accommodate all of you, all three and three.
07:19So now they have not done it.
07:21So that's why there is no another way for me.
07:23I have, today I have taken this trusty decision.
07:27It's going on a day.
07:29And it's like a man who doesn't do this.
07:32What's that, Mr. Shama?
07:33I'm going to go two days, but I'm getting it.
07:36We've got these people who were talking about the protest.
07:38They have got their names in the past.
07:41That's right.
07:42Just to take a step, it's my last order will be treated when they come right away.
07:51Even when they stand over the court.
07:52And we're running over there.
07:53We're running over there.
07:55We're running over.
07:56We're running over there.
08:03so as we break down for you right now and steering away from what we were talking about the chaos
08:08and confusion let me just tell you what the dk shivkumar team looks like and the caste combination
08:14that matters of course a great deal in karnataka you've got seven lingayats now in the dk shivkumar
08:20cabinet that's an important number because remember that the lingayats have largely been a bgb
08:25vote bank the congress is looking to kind of ensure that lingayats switch over five vocaligas who are
08:31also there seven members of the scheduled caste community three scheduled tribes six obcs it was
08:39going to be a lot more if you had that woman representation and gayatri also being brought
08:43into the cabinet four muslims have been inducted uh in the cabinet one ready community ramalinga ready
08:49this is the breakdown right now of the dk shivkumar cabinet like i said
08:53a lot of thought has gone into that composition to ensure that every group feels represented a
09:00large part of it was also to ensure that the ahindas don't feel left out after sidramaya
09:05was in fact made to step down as the chief minister let me bring in sagay raj who's joining us
09:11live with
09:11more details on this sagay after a delay finally the cabinet expansion has happened have things settled
09:17down the last 24 hours has been extremely stormy rocky for dk shivkumar now have all
09:23you know the voices that were rebelling against the high command kind of quietened down with the
09:28swearing in down or is this going to continue
09:34it will continue it is on expected lights because uh there you have a battalion of congress mlis and
09:41congress got a brutal majority in 2023 and most of them were anticipating that they will get the
09:46cabinet birth and there are already two mlis who have uh said that they will attend a resignation one
09:52mlis has already given a resignation and supporters of uh four to five mlis including father-son duo
09:58in vijainagar and govindaraj nagar in bengaluru the supporters have protested outside his house
10:04uh they shouted slogans against the congress party and high command stating that he should have given at
10:08least one of those uh father-son duo and there is also protest in mysauru the supporters of tanvi state
10:15uh have a shorter slogans against the high command as well as the local leadership in the state and
10:21they also alleged that there was injustice done to tanvi state he's a senior congress leader
10:24senior mla and one of his supporters even went to an extent of uh consuming uh insecticide and he was
10:31later on hospitalized and he's under medication as of now and the supporters when you saw the list
10:39were there some names or some exclusions that surprised you some senior leaders who you thought
10:46would definitely be in that list absolutely we thought that dinesh kundu rao will be part of this
10:56we thought that uh uh than we say it might be part of it because he's a senior congress leader
11:01from a
11:02minority community and we also thought thought uh rang vedra hitnal one of the uh senior congress
11:08mla from koppal district from kurba community might get an opportunity this time and there were a lot of
11:13uh uh ifs and so's and and we also thought that sharat vache goda the young uh young mla the
11:20second
11:20time mla from bengaluru bengaluru rural will get an opportunity and we also thought that
11:25yes podana was a loyalist of sidra maya will also get a cabinet but yes he he he he is
11:31made as a
11:32deputy speaker of kardatka assembly so there are a lot of surprises which has happened and i i believe
11:38that the congress have gone into a lot of calculations sakshita especially after tabilladu elections and
11:43jenzy protest and so what we also got to learn through congress is that they were looking for fresh
11:48faces but uh as of now apart from rizwan ashad or few others uh nobody seems to be fresh faces
11:55in the karnataka congress and yet you've got some senior leaders who are upset but ultimately what
12:01stands out for me is that there's no woman at all in the dk shiv kumar cabinet i hope that
12:06changes but
12:07for now no woman representation thanks a guy for joining us with those details let me open this up
12:12joining us on this broadcast anand gurumurthy spokesperson of the karnataka bjp and shatabir
12:17shivana spokesperson of the karnataka congress shivana to you first on what's played out in the last 24
12:23hours you will concede that there's been quite a bit of drama quite a bit of chaos could this have
12:28been averted shivana could this have been done in a much smoother way um see there is a simple
12:34arithmetic the congress has 136 mlas out of a 224 assembly there are several experienced legislators
12:41there are about 38 first time mlas several of whom are capable competent and deserving but the
12:47constitution only permits 34 position in the council of ministers 136 aspirations cannot be fitted into
12:5634 chairs however creative the seating arrangement may be so therefore the congress has a problem of
13:02plenty and we have seen that in the past we have senior legislators who have served the state as well
13:07as the party for decades alongside with a new generation that deserves responsibility now the
13:12leadership must balance experience with fresh thinking region with community and political
13:18representation with administrative capability so yes there will be disappointment but disappointment
13:24is not disintegration aspiration is not uh rebellion and an emotional and few emotional reactions in
13:30the morning of the cabinet expansions do not constitute a constitutional crisis or a collapse of the government
13:36i will ask this though i will ask this you're saying that you know this is being it's not as
13:42chaotic
13:43as it looks this is expected it's a problem of plenty which is a good problem to have but having
13:48said that
13:48what led to a vaidya being removed and a typing error being mentioned by aicc what led to gayatri
13:55shanta gauda's name being there and her not taking oath that's confusion shivana yeah i'm not saying that
14:01there there isn't disappointment i'm acknowledging that now see for nearly three years we were
14:06repeatedly told that the transition between shri sidramaya and shri dk shivkumar would tear the
14:11congress apart political obituaries were written panel discussions were conducted and countdown clocks
14:17were virtually prepared yet when the time came karnataka witnessed an exceptionally smooth and
14:23significant transition the prediction failed and the congress party prevailed the same with
14:28shri ramling are ready political obituaries were written but he still continues with the
14:32government right and today karnataka has a full-fledged cabinet the time for speculation is over
14:38and the time for solid governance begins over the you know over this uh two year remaining period we are
14:45committed to fulfilling our promises we are committing to deliver solid governance and we want to go before
14:51the people in 2028 2029 with a record of performance and not political rhetoric anand kurmurthy your
14:58opening comments you know is this run of the mill in politics much ado about nothing then see whatever
15:04happens within their uh party it's their internal party issue but what we are asking as principal
15:09opposition is all your road show and all your shows of you know drinking poison and other things are
15:14disturbing the common people and their life kindly keep it within your congress party office okay and do it
15:20inside and come out with proper results for the people people are suffering there's a lot of
15:25drought related issues and portals are again coming to shore even after spending 2002 so these are all
15:31you know on one side and they don't care about this the congress leaders go ahead 16 daily and then
15:37is the constitutional part that you know they are disregarding congress people which i want to point out
15:42today in you know in in the national channel see first of all they come up with a list and
15:48that list
15:49is printed on congress uh you know uh this thing and then you know is sent out to everybody as
15:55if you
15:55know mr venu gopal is the in charge of uh issuing that list no the cm's plerogative is to come
16:01up with
16:01the cabinet ministers okay mr dk shiv can accept that but let us let us let us how is there
16:08any difference
16:08from any other party mr anand guru that's the same process of the bjp there's no difference there
16:13the high command does everything picks everyone it is you know it is it is you know the cm's
16:19prerogative that goes to the governor's office okay one one thing is that second thing is cabinet
16:24minister i mean i'm sorry the council chairman and the vice chairman see these two are appointed by the
16:30close okay okay you have numbers that's a different point but how can you you know print it on congress
16:36uh letterhead and you know publish it the attitude he's a state in charge he's not even an mp or
16:41an
16:41mle here even if he was it is wrong okay how can you do to show this atrocity congress should
16:46you
16:46know take care of these uh sensitivities okay they cannot just go ahead they're a very old party
16:51and they have to take care of these sensitive things and have some sensibility they cannot show
16:56this atrocity towards the governor so that's what i want to point out of course they don't care about
17:01people they have all the numbers and they keep telling it and the cm doesn't care about people
17:05that's a different story but this this is again you know a breach of uh you know constitutional rights
17:11that they have got and they will the people are watching it no so mr shivanna i'll bring you in
17:15on this essentially there are also questions being asked on how much power really the kpcc has
17:20in these decisions for two weeks you had dk shivkumar camping in delhi waiting for a meeting with
17:25the high command so after an endless delay now we see this kind of confusion this chaos where one
17:31leader is brought in replaced uh another leader is brought in told don't take oath today because
17:36you know there will be disgruntlement after all of this delay this is what we see playing out in
17:42karnataka you know see the congress is a national party the chief minister former chief minister the
17:49state leadership our pcc president and the central leadership will have to consult one another while
17:55making such um large decision consultation is not remote control if that's what you're suggesting
18:01we have a concept of internal democracy and we will follow that and in so far as the bjp's counter
18:07attack we will accept any constructive criticism but we we do not require a tutorial in cabinet stability
18:14from the karnataka bjp between 2008 and 2013 one bjp government gave karnataka three chief
18:21ministers in bs yadurapa dv sidananda gauda and jagdish shatterji in 2019 shri bs yadurapa waited
18:29for weeks on weeks he was the lone wolf in his cabinet he was a single chief minister now the
18:34bjp also
18:35you know built governments through defections and the now infamous operation kamala so the record
18:41does not qualify them to behave like visiting professors in political stability or lessons in
18:48political stability unfortunately the people of karnataka i think are used to these delays mr anand
18:53gurumurthy see basically i told it uh very frankly we are not going to go into the internal matters
18:59keep inside keep it inside your office okay but still okay congress has to still you know they
19:04have some issues okay they have they've done the mistake so they have to talk about it okay you are
19:08talking about bjp's problems right what are you doing why don't you get better better than us
19:13you can you show that you have you know in your cabinet expansion can you show that in your road
19:18shows the way you are conducting road shows causing law and order and traffic problems to the people
19:23can you behave properly before you know telling that we are giving you tutorials see you came and asked
19:28me for a tutorial now okay mr shibana please understand i i think we're not talking about your
19:34bjp is not talking about your internal matters no i think mr mr gurumurthy essentially what the
19:39congress's contention is that if you speak of our if you speak of a delay in our cabinet expansion
19:44under mr yadir rapat there was over 30 day wait if i'm not wrong for a cabinet
19:50see there were many tv discussions about cabinet delays and other things because the people of karnataka
19:56were suffering at this point of time if you say in past something has happened and that was wrong okay
20:01that was wrong but what about today talk about today mr shivana can you take this state forward
20:06for the next two years or you have just lost hope and you are you know just finding out that
20:10the
20:11problems of bjp and you know surviving tell me that is that your survival spirit okay
20:16okay yeah so the cabinet has today expanded the government is stable despite bjp's multiple
20:28attempts to destabilize a democratically elected government and and karnataka sir now expects
20:34performance and not political theater like what you're doing on this show individual disappointment
20:39will be handled with dignity and it will not distract us from our collective responsibility
20:44our priority is clear it is to resolve karnataka's pressing problems it's to accelerate development
20:51fulfill our our commitments and deliver solid governance in the next two years we will face people
20:57in 2028 2029 not with excuses but with a record of performance the arithmetic has now settled the
21:05chairs have now been filled and the congress party is united now it's stopped it's time to stop counting
21:10ministers and start measuring the results is my respectful submission if you can assist us as a
21:16constructive opposition please do if not then the people will answer mr gurumurthy your response see
21:23basically we have been telling this from day one okay fix the problems of people especially you know
21:28drinking water problem and you know was announced by you and and other you know international
21:32organization and our own imd had announced we had kept telling that but no no response from
21:38them and now you know they are also praying for rain god and people are also praying for rain god
21:42number two regarding the bangalore traffic issues and other problems we have been telling that okay they're just doing the
21:48road shows okay all those road shows done by the bangalore in charge minister
21:52everybody is back on the street the street vendors are back back the footpaths are not here so they
21:56don't do anything they're only doing shows and then they accuse us of you know creating shows on
22:02i'm glad you've raised an issue that connects with every bengalurian sir but i'm sorry every political
22:06party is guilty of that not one political party every political party don't pull out the past tell me
22:12tell me what is happening in the next two years okay you cannot pull out the past in every media
22:16program and say that okay it was like that those were those were the mistakes your party also pulls
22:22up the past mr shivana i am not pulling up any past here i am just asking what is the
22:28reason of the
22:29past that is that the bjp is so experienced in pulling up the past they refer to mehru two weeks
22:34ago everything was clear okay one second time please mr shivana mr shivana one second two weeks
22:39was clear now the street vendors are back okay livelihoods were lost and again you know things
22:44are back to you know nobody can walk on footpaths what is your answer on that simple things i'm
22:50asking okay which is happening in the last two weeks why are you going two years ten years then
22:54i can go to indira gandhi's time and nehru's time and everything you know why don't do that only okay
22:58i'm asking about mr mr shivana quickly mr shivana quickly i'm glad mr anand ragumurthy brought it up
23:06because this uh this trick of bringing up or digging up old graves from the past is what we have
23:13learned
23:13from the bjp any discussion on democracy any discussion on current governance and they would go to nehru and
23:20indira gandhi and java and rajiv gandhi anyway we are not interested in doing that i'm glad the bjp
23:26is having a reasonable and reasoned discussion we are happy with the way the government is performing
23:32we are happy with our bangalore in charge minister we are taking action against everybody in accordance
23:37with law one final question i'm running out of time but one final question that i have to ask you
23:42extremely disappointing that even in the cabinet expansion we've seen no woman representation
23:48whatsoever in this cabinet yes zero women no the the representation of women must improve there's
23:57no doubt about must improve zero it is we're saying combinations religion religious representation all
24:04of that but women zero yes i i totally understand that we had gayatri shantygauda in place she was a
24:11part of the list of 20 ministers were supposed to take over today but for whatsoever internal reasons
24:17that has been stalled for the reason my information what was the reason because she's the only one who
24:21wasn't part of the swearing in while while the swearing in is happening as we speak i am here debating
24:27with
24:27you so i'm not uh i'm not really sure about the exact reason but it is a legitimate criticism
24:33representation cannot be treated as a symbolic afterthought we must increase the representation of women in
24:40our cabinet and i'm certain that shri dk shiv kumar ji shri malikarjun karge ji shri bk hariprasad as well
24:46as
24:46shri sidramaya will include the necessary representation especially for women in fact it is a congress party
24:52that is demanding for a 50 percent reservation of uh women in local body elections and we're going to
24:57implement that so walk the talk so walk the talk i hope that you walk the talk on it and
25:02that you
25:02know you don't see at least just one woman being brought in for token representation but there is
25:07actual you know women's solid representation women faces in the cabinet which unfortunately is not
25:13happening thank you very much mr anand kurmurthy and mr shivana for joining us here on india today
25:21our next story comes in from tabernardo the last few months since you had vijay take over as the
25:28chief minister for some reason politicians seem to believe that it's fair game to target female actors
25:34it's fair game to talk about the chief minister's time as an actor and then drag in female actors women
25:41actors into the conversation the latest on that list is none other than the leader of opposition
25:47udenidi stalin who in the effort of taking on chief minister vijay made the most crass obscene remarks
25:56possible udenidi stalin and i'm not going to repeat what exactly he said because i find it
26:01far too below the belt and downright ugly disappointing and despicable to repeat those words but the comment
26:08he made about actor trisha is unfortunate that these kind of comments are being made by a leader of
26:15opposition by a senior leader who's the face of the dmg in the assembly is unfortunate to say the least
26:21party carder in the crowd started chanting trisha trisha what should he have done as a senior leader
26:27stopped it right then and there said let's talk substance let's talk about the kaveri issue not go
26:33into all of these misogynistic obscene remarks possible and yet unfortunately he followed the script that
26:40almost every political leader unfortunately does not just in tamirnadu but across the country by
26:45falling into that narrative and then adding fuel to the fire terrible remark that's come in and so far
26:52there's been no apology no clarification there's been huge criticism that's come in for the dmk on
26:59these inappropriate comments that have been made and dragging a woman who has absolutely nothing to do
27:04with politics in tamirnadu who has absolutely nothing to do with all that's playing out dragging her into
27:10politics for no reason with these kind of comments
27:14the
27:15the
27:15the
27:15the
27:16the
27:16I'm not going to come here again.
27:19I'm sorry, Mr. Murala Machar.
27:22Why are you talking about this?
27:25I'm not going to come here anymore.
27:29You can't take me to the TV game off.
27:31I'm not going to see a case.
27:34Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!
27:37Pizza!
27:44And the TVK is now lashed out at Udenedi Stalin
27:47over what played out over the comments made by Udenedi Stalin.
27:52TVK MLA, Revant Charan has referred to these remarks
27:55as absolutely disgusting, saying, and I quote,
27:59passing such disgraceful comments against anyone is completely unacceptable.
28:02It exposes the mindset, political culture,
28:05and declining standards of the DMK.
28:08It's not just a fact that TVK,
28:10the BJP also has come out to condemn
28:13what leader of opposition Udenedi Stalin has said.
28:15The BJP saying that the opposition leader is also a former actor himself
28:19and the fact that he's speaking in this manner about fellow artists is terrible.
28:25The Actors Association must speak out.
28:27So widespread condemnation really for the comments that have been made by Udenedi Stalin.
28:32And I will highlight that so far there's been no apology,
28:35no clarification that's come in from the DMK on the comment made by the leader of opposition.
28:41But even as we're seeing reactions coming in,
28:44I will remind you that Udenedi Stalin at this point made this comment
28:47during a protest on the Kaveri issue.
28:50And while people around him started chanting Trisha Trisha,
28:53instead of immediately shutting that down,
28:56he fell in for that narrative,
28:57got swept away and then added to that narrative as well,
29:02making completely unacceptable remarks that I refuse to refer to as well on air
29:07because it's downright disappointing that you have a senior leader like this
29:12making this kind of a comment and finding no need hours on to clarify,
29:16finding no need hours on to apologize for the remarks that he's made.
29:25All right, let's also get you the latest on the fight over the Kaveri waters.
29:31Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are at loggerheads over the dispute.
29:34There has been rainfall which has led to some reprieve for the people of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
29:39But now the Tamil Nadu government has also approached the Supreme Court.
29:43Why?
29:43Because they say that Karnataka government has withheld the rightful share of Kaveri water,
29:50that the Kaveri waters authority has mandated that Karnataka must release a certain amount of water.
29:56It hasn't happened yet.
30:11The Kaveri water dispute is heating up once again.
30:15As Karnataka and Tamil Nadu battle over their share of the river,
30:18the political temperature is rising in both states.
30:24In a dramatic protest in Tiruchrapalli, farmers buried themselves in the dry Kaveri riverbed,
30:30demanding the immediate release of water for irrigation.
30:38The protesters accused Karnataka of failing to release Tamil Nadu's share of water,
30:43as directed by the Kaveri Water Management Authority.
30:46The Vijay government has now approached the Supreme Court, seeking urgent intervention.
30:54Karnataka maintains that it is dealing with its own water constraints and is working to resolve the situation.
31:03We are seeking help and cooperation with everybody.
31:06These are something beyond government's control, right?
31:09Natural calamities, natural disasters, the El Nino, Super El Nino is not in the government's control.
31:15So we have to work together to ensure that we give the best possible solution for the people.
31:23In Tamil Nadu, leader of the opposition, Udyanidhi Stalin, led a protest in Tanjavur in support of farmers.
31:33He targeted Chief Minister Vijay, mocking what he called the Chief Minister's real politics.
32:07The Chief Minister's real politics.
32:30The AIA-DMK has also attacked the Vijay government questioning why an all-party meeting has not been convened on
32:38the Kaveri issue.
33:08The Chief Minister's real politics.
33:32The Chief Minister's real politics.
33:39with promote mother of pure report India today and while you're seeing the fight continuing over

35:16across the entire Pampa basin as the river shows no sign of receding this is very close to the famous
35:22temple in Aranmulla also where this main road leading to the temple is completely filled with water yesterday
35:29also the region was facing water logging today also the scenes are no different and you can see the NDRF
35:34now using speed votes to rescue some people are stuck they were learning that some older people elderly are
35:41stuck in the houses there so they're going there a high-level meeting was called today by chief

37:44of 40 to 50 km per hour
37:46With Shibhimol KG Bureau report India today
37:57And Keralam chief minister VD Satishan has been facing flack over pictures that went viral of him attending a feast
38:03amid this flood situation has reacted to this controversy dismissing all of the criticism
38:11He said very clearly that I was coordinating with all necessary ministers and that the communication was that they've got
38:19things under control
38:20Not just that he's also lashed out at his political opponents saying I didn't know that during previous floods chief
38:27ministers refused to even eat anything
38:29This kind of slander is unfortunate so the Keralam chief minister hitting back refusing to apologize or clarify saying very

39:22like period and a half years ago.

39:45I don't care.
40:13Right after we get you all the details in this report.
40:21When a debate crosses the line into abuse,
40:25it is no longer just about disagreement.
40:27It becomes a question of humanity.
40:33Bhumi Pednikar has weighed in on the student protest row,
40:37condemning both abusive language and online hate.
40:40In a video shared on social media, Bhumi highlighted
40:45that the people have every right to voice their concerns
40:48over issues such as education and the need paper leave.
40:58However, she also underscored that dissent should remain respectful
41:03and never turn abusive.
41:07Appearing to the younger generation,
41:09she urged them to uphold the values of civil discourse.
41:19Adding that the country can move forward only through unity.
41:23I have come out and kind of address this,
41:26that if one country will be the same,
41:28it will be the same,
41:30it will be the same when we have collectively,
41:31and the unity,
41:33the flaws,
41:35we talk about the same things.
41:36And the good things about them,
41:38we talk about it.
41:38What is it that the people who have been told?
41:40What has happened to be the same,
41:42the country and the world has seen it.
41:44Some children have said,
41:46they have said,
41:50they have said,
41:51they have said,
41:53they have said,
41:55they have said,
41:57they have said,
41:58they have said,
41:59they have said,
41:59The will not lose us,
42:01sigue with us.
42:05In this case,
42:10it will not be changed.
42:16Meanwhile, Bhumi also addressed the disturbing online abuse faced by a young female student
42:21protestor, linked to the CJP-led demonstration.
42:40After the video surfaced online, the actor condemned the rape and death threats directed at the
42:46student and her family, calling such harassment completely unacceptable.
43:13Interestingly, Bhumi shifted the focus from the protest itself to the growing culture
43:18of online intimidation.
43:21We cannot bully a young girl.
43:23We can't do psychosis in a young child because we disagree with her opinion.
43:30As women, we deal with harassment and as a public figure I have gone through this experience
43:36so we can't tell you how deep, lasting impact it has on someone's mental health.
43:41We all just want one thing, that it is the country's progress, the country's progress.
43:46The actor is in fact facing online backlash after urging protesters to avoid abusive language
43:53against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging people to separate disagreement from abuse.
43:59Bhumi said differences of opinion should never justify threats, bullying or intimidation.
44:07Bhumi's remarks come amid a wider debate over the language used during the student protests
44:13and the online backlash that followed.
44:19Bhumi said that, the country is one of the most of the greatest in the world.
44:27One of the stories that's got the world talking, the mountains losing one of the greatest legends
44:33Nirmal Purja, known to the world as Nimsdai,
44:36died after being caught in an avalanche on Pakistan's broad peak.
44:40We're remembering the man who inspired millions by conquering the world's highest peaks.
44:47Giving up is not in the blood, sir. It's not in the blood.
44:59At more than 26,000 feet, surrounded by ice, unstable snow and deadly silence,
45:10a massive avalanche came crashing down the slopes of Broad Peak in Pakistan.
45:20In a matter of seconds, an international team of climbers disappeared beneath the snow.
45:32Among them was Nirmal Purja, the man the mountaineering world knew simply as Nimsdai.
45:42Purja was leading an expedition, when the avalanche struck between the mountain's upper camps on July 30th.
45:50Heavy snowfall, unstable terrain and hostile weather severely hampered rescue operations.
45:59His body was later recovered, confirming the news the global mountaineering community had feared.
46:08But Nirmal Purja was not merely another climber.
46:13A former Gurkha soldier and a veteran of Britain's elite Special Boat Service,
46:20he rewrote the limits of high-altitude mountaineering.
46:27In 2019, Purja climbed all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks in just six months and six days.
46:37The previous record had taken nearly eight years.
46:43His extraordinary mission, Project Possible, became a global symbol of courage and endurance.
46:52The journey was captured in the Netflix documentary,
46:5614 peaks, nothing is impossible.
47:01It also gave the world the line that came to define him.
47:05Giving up is not in the blood, sir.
47:09It is not in the blood.
47:13Purja later became part of the all-Nepalese team that completed the first successful winter ascent of K2.
47:21Broad Peak became his final mountain.
47:26The mountains gave him glory, records and a place in history.
47:34And now, one of those mountains has claimed his life.
47:39But records can be broken.
47:43Legends cannot be replaced.
47:45For NIMSDAI, giving up was never in the blood.
47:51And nothing was impossible.
47:54If you give up, you die.
47:58Bureau Report, India Today.
48:01Giving up is not in the blood, sir.
48:03It's not in the blood.
48:08Tributes have been pouring in from across the world for NIMSDAI.
48:12I'm wrapping up this broadcast.
48:14I'm leaving you with a report, with a recap, essentially, of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
48:19Now, India's Fed wrapping up with 39 medals.
48:23And the absence of sports like shooting, wrestling, badminton and archery,
48:26the sports in which India usually wins medals,
48:29have still managed to come up with the goods and finish in the top five.
48:40The Indian athletes stood up to the CWG Challenge
48:43and brought glory to the nation
48:45in the most pruned-down version of the Games since 1994.
48:55India had 122 athletes in its contingent
48:59with 38 returning home as CWG medalists.
49:05It meant that India finished the campaign in fourth position
49:08with 39 medals behind Australia, England and Canada.
49:14Of those 39 medals, 13 of them were gold, 17 silver, which is the most,
49:20and at 9, bronze, which is the least of them all.
49:25The Indian boxers proved to be the most successful.
49:28Of the 14 who had gone for the Games,
49:3110 of them ended up picking the gold and the remaining got silver.
50:02The athletes' contingent bagged 10 medals, headlined by historic 2-3 on the javelin podium
50:08by Neeraj Chopra and Yashveer Singh.
50:368 medals came from weightlifting and, of course,
50:39it had to be Mirabai Chanu to get her hands on the only gold medal that India won.
50:51So, that in nutshell was India's time in Glasgow.
50:56The future of the Games may be uncertain,
50:59but for now, the nation prepares itself to host the competition in 2030.
51:09The future of the Games may be uncertain,
