Red Sox sweep the 2-time defending champion Dodgers. Red Sox have now won 8 series in a row. Ceddanne Rafaela had 4 home runs in the series, homering in each game of sweep. Let's hear from Rafaela on the dominant performance. Is this the team to beat in the A.L.? Dodgers land Tarik Skubal. Should Red Sox have been in on Skubal? Will Red Sox do anything at deadline?

00:00The red hot Red Sox complete a sweep of the Dodgers and the trade deadline is looming.
00:07And we were talking about it a lot the first hour, but I hope that Presbot is over there
00:13cooking right now as we speak, Curtis, it is going to be disappointing if 6 p.m.
00:18comes and goes and there's nothing done by this Red Sox team.
00:22If they feel like they can just stand pat, I am going to be disappointed with a capital
00:27D over here.
00:28I'll tell you that.
00:28Can we agree to one thing that they need at the deadline that may not even require trading
00:33a prospect?
00:34Sure.
00:34A new jet.
00:36Ah, they do have problems flying an awful lot when they fly commercially.
00:40Wilson Contreras posted on Instagram that they were stuck again in L.A.
00:45Like.
00:46So did Jaren.
00:47I have to.
00:47He's back on social media.
00:49Good for him.
00:50That was a bit of a hiatus.
00:52So the manner in which that this team, I've flown Delta sick brags several times.
00:57I haven't had a delay in like two years.
00:59How is this team with Delta on a private charter jet constantly on a tarmac?
01:05I don't know.
01:06Maybe.
01:07Honestly, no offense to John Henry, probably using Groupons or something like that or travel
01:11loss.
01:11Maybe they book on travel loss.
01:13He's got spare miles.
01:14I don't know.
01:15Greg, you know what I wanted to say to you and maybe you and a lot of people who think
01:20like you?
01:20Because it will be interesting that people will be upset if they don't do anything today
01:26after they just swept the best team in Major League Baseball.
01:32And if you look at them over their last eight series and what they've been able to do and
01:37how they've been sweeping teams, good teams.
01:40So this is an interesting take.
01:43So you think they're fine as is and you wouldn't go out and add.
01:47I mean, I'm not saying I wouldn't, but I'm not going to be upset if they don't.
01:52Like, I don't get how you'll be upset if they don't.
01:55I mean, I know they added Curtis Mead who ended up getting hurt.
01:59But if they don't make another move, I'm not going to go like, I'm not going to be upset,
02:03especially going looking at this team and how it's constructed right now and where you
02:07are, you just, you just swept the best team in Major League Baseball.
02:12Yeah.
02:13Listen, I guess my question is why are you upset after the way that they've been able
02:17to perform?
02:18Because I look around the rest of the league.
02:20It's not that good.
02:21And you have a prime opportunity if you add here or there to really go for it and to get
02:28this team into the World Series.
02:29So I, that's why.
02:32Right.
02:32Because you saw what the team did last year, which was nothing, and then they got, and
02:35they were a player or a play away from getting to the ALCS and beating the Yankees.
02:39Yeah, but this team is completely different than what we saw last year's team after the
02:43All-Star break.
02:44Like, this team looks way better than what we were able to see after the first, you know,
02:50few games after the All-Star break.
02:52They've been playing well recently, though.
02:54And you've got guys like Chad Tracy telling media that they deserve to have additions.
02:58So if Chad Tracy's in media saying that they deserve this, this team deserves for them
03:04to make moves at the trade deadline to then not do it, I think.
03:07I guess the biggest question is this.
03:08They made a move, right?
03:10If he wasn't hurt, would you still be saying the same thing?
03:15Like, if Curtis Meade wasn't hurt, would you?
03:17No, I mean, if Curtis Meade was not hurt, I might be saying, listen, I would like for
03:21them to add an arm in some way, shape, or form, because as we have discussed many times,
03:27I don't know what the restriction's going to be inning-wise on Peyton Tolley going forward.
03:31I don't know if you can count on 36-year-old Sonny Gray, who gets hurt a lot.
03:37Like, I have questions about that.
03:39Last year, after the All-Star break, they went 11-6 in their next 17 games.
03:44That's pretty good.
03:45Yeah, I'm not saying that.
03:45I think you're thinking about the trade deadline, where they fumbled.
03:47We don't know what this team's going to be after the trade deadline, it's been that way
03:51every year.
03:51They've had the same record.
03:52You see that stat over the weekend?
03:53They have the same 56-51 record for four straight years?
03:56Yeah.
03:57Yeah.
03:58This team deserves an investment.
04:00They need a bat.
04:00They need to hit home runs.
04:01Craig Breslow made a lot of news when he was on with us last week, and the one thing that
04:04I saw everywhere was when he talked about how you have to have home runs in the playoffs.
04:10You need home runs.
04:11And that's something their team doesn't have.
04:13Yeah.
04:13Talking about the Sox.
04:14So let's hear from one of your Red Sox superstars right now, who is just hitting the absolute
04:19cover off the baseball.
04:21That would be one, Sedan Raffaella.
04:23He joined Will and Lenny DiNardo after the game last night and talked about how much fun
04:28he's having and his home run there early in the game.
04:32I think right now we have a lot of fun as a team.
04:36And no, I think right now it's the most fun I'm having with.
04:39Yeah, I think it was huge to bring us back in the game, and the boys did the job again.
04:45So I think it's been huge for us when we fall behind, answer right back, and I think that's
04:50been one of the big keys for us.
04:54Sedan may be having a lot of fun, but nobody is having more fun than Will Fleming.
04:59I mean, the man is absolutely into it night after night after night, Curtis.
05:03You should see it when they're stuck on the tarmac, he just starts karaoke.
05:10Well, Wiggy, I can understand, I guess, that you look at this team and say, hey, you know
05:15what, if they stand pat and they're unable to add what they want to add, they're worried
05:21about the price being too high, they're worrying about what they're going to have to pay somebody
05:26going forward, whatever.
05:27I can see how you might be confident currently right now, because they are on an absolute run.
05:34He's done it again!
05:37Yeah, I mean, they're on, like you said, a run, a heater, like, I wouldn't have thought
05:43that they would go into L.A. and sweep the Dodgers.
05:47Nobody would have.
05:48Right.
05:49Not a soul.
05:50So, and I'm just saying, from where they might be sitting, then they might go, okay, all
05:55right, is there somebody that we could get that, and we heard Bresbot say, is more than
06:00just a rental, that could be a guy that could be here for three to five years that we would
06:04want to go get and help us?
06:06Where do we need help?
06:07Do we need, I mean, you got guys that are, like, now their bats are getting hot.
06:13Raffaella, Abreu, we've already talked about, Contreras, even, you know, say what you want,
06:18Duran, you might have, you know, three guys that could potentially get the 30-plus home runs,
06:23or at least in the high 20s, and you start to go, our rotation looks good, our bullpen,
06:29maybe we might not have to add.
06:32And then once they potentially get me back, they might say, here's a bat that we're going
06:37to have come postseason.
06:38If they go 30 and 21 the rest of the way, which is very doable, they end up with 90
06:44wins.
06:45Consider where they are.
06:46Can you believe that?
06:47We thought they were going to lose 100 games, and they might win 90.
06:50We were trying to figure out mathematically if it was possible or not for them to lose
06:54100.
06:54That's remarkable.
06:55They might win the division.
06:57I mean, I know that and all that, but think about, there was points in times where they
07:01were, what, 14 games out?
07:03Yep.
07:03I'm like, ah, there's no way.
07:04And now they're in a legitimate chance and spot where the division is something that they
07:10can win.
07:11There are two games out in the lost column of the Yankees.
07:13You remember when Michael Kaye berated Red Sox fans for having the gall to say that the Yankees
07:16sucked?
07:17And he's like, you're the worst team in baseball.
07:19Yeah.
