00:02Datin Seri Rozma Mansour has filed an application at the Court of Appeal
00:06seeking to submit new evidence in her appeal against her conviction and sentence
00:10in the 1.25 billion ringgit solar hybrid project case.
00:14In a notice of motion filed on July 21st,
00:17the wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak
00:20is seeking permission under the Courts of Judicature Act and Court of Appeal rules
00:24to introduce three new documents as evidence.
00:26The documents include a cover letter from law firm Messrs Shamsuddin,
00:30and co-dated July 10th,
00:31a police report lodged by key prosecution witness Ryan Razwil Abdullah,
00:35also on July 10th,
00:36and a statutory declaration affirmed by Ryan the same day,
00:39along with an attached affidavit dated August 2020.
00:42Rozma is also seeking to recall Ryan,
00:45a former consultant and business partner of JEPAC Holdings Sendirian Berhad,
00:48to give additional oral testimony,
00:50either before the Court of Appeal or the High Court.
00:53On September 1st, 2022,
00:55Rozma was found guilty of soliciting 187.5 million ringgit
01:00and accepting 6.5 million ringgit in bribes from former JEPAC Holdings
01:05Managing Director Saidi Abang Samsuddin,
01:07through her former aide, Datuk Rizal Mansour.
01:09The bribes were allegedly an inducement to help JEPAC Holdings
01:13secure the 1.25 billion ringgit solar hybrid project
01:16for 369 rural schools in Sarawak from the Education Ministry.
01:20Rozma was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment on each charge,
01:23to run concurrently and fined 970 million ringgit.
01:27She was granted a stay of execution pending her appeal.
01:31The Court of Appeal has scheduled a 16-day hearing starting September 1st
01:35to hear her appeal against the conviction and sentence.
