UEFA to boycott FIFA tournaments if plan to sell World Cup stake goes ahead

00:10UEFA's 55 member associations unanimously voted not to take part in future World Cups or other FIFA-run events

00:19Following an emergency meeting on Thursday, it said the tournament could not be treated as an investment product

00:25In a further blow to FIFA present Gianni Infantino's plan, CONCACAF has also rejected the proposal,
00:31saying it was concerned about the lack of due process.
00:34The 41-member North America, Central America and Caribbean bloc did not, however, say it would boycott the tournament.
00:41On Tuesday, FIFA, a non-profit association, announced plans to create a commercial subsidiary
00:47to run its biggest events such as the World Cup and the Club World Cup.
00:50Under the proposal, private investors would be allowed to acquire stakes in the company,
00:55but would remain minority shareholders.
