A self-taught artist dedicated time to carefully carving an intricate portrait of football star Erling Haaland into a single leaf. The Manchester City striker and Norway football superstar himself spotted the artwork and left a comment.
Kanat Nurtazin, from Kazakhstan, creates delicate leaf art by hand, transforming ordinary leaves into detailed portraits of famous faces using nothing more than a scalpel and remarkable patience.
His latest collection features football icons including Erling Haaland, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, but it was his Haaland creation that caught the Norwegian striker's attention after he commented simply: "Nice."
Kanat revealed it actually took him three attempts to perfect the Haaland portrait before he was satisfied with the final result.
Each artwork takes around five hours to complete, with every cut made by hand. A single mistake can ruin the entire piece.
Kanat said: "I started leaf art as a way to express myself using simple, natural materials.
"A leaf, for me, is like a blank canvas, fragile and temporary, just like a moment in time.
"What inspires me most is the idea of turning something ordinary into something memorable.
"My process starts with a story I want to tell. I sketch it out, then select the right leaf and carefully carve it by hand.
"One small mistake can ruin everything."
Erling Haaland commented: “Nice.”
Another viewer commented: “I hope you are preserving your art, it's amazing!"
