00:38This morning, police are still searching for a second suspect after a deadly shooting near Seattle's Space Needle.
00:44Police say one suspect is in custody after gunfire erupted during a food festival, killing three people and injuring four
00:51others, including a toddler.
00:53Investigators believe the two suspects were shooting at each other.
00:56They recovered two guns at the scene.
00:59One suspect surrendered to officers, but the other took off.
01:02Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
01:05Witnesses say the festival quickly descended into chaos as people ran for cover.
01:10We suddenly heard some firecrackers, what I thought were firecrackers, and people started yelling, shooter, shooter.
01:17And there was like a stampede of people just running.
01:21They were stepping over people.

01:24There was a lot of food on the floor, and there were people on the floor.
01:27There were kids, strollers.
01:28The Seattle mayor called the shooting an unbelievable tragedy and said the city has now seen three major gun violence
01:35incidents in the past few days.
01:37The ATF says federal agents are assisting Seattle police as investigators continue the search for the second suspect.
01:45German authorities say the man accused of carrying out this weekend's deadly attack near Berlin's Pride celebration is now dead
01:52after a confrontation with police.
01:55Investigators spent nearly 24 hours searching for Abdul Ballout before tracking him Sunday to a garden complex outside the city.
02:02Police say he charged at officers with a knife or other sharp object, and they opened fire, killing him at
02:08the scene.
02:09As investigators continue piecing together exactly what happened, they're also facing questions about what took place beforehand.
02:17Officials say the 21-year-old had previously tried to join ISIS and had already been convicted of preparing a
02:23serious act of violence and spreading ISIS propaganda,
02:26so he was already on authorities' radar before Saturday night's attack.
02:30Police say a van drove into a crowd just a few hundred yards from Berlin's Pride festivities before investigators say
02:37Ballout got out and continued the attack with a machete.
02:41One woman was killed, 29 other people were injured.
02:44On Sunday, hundreds gathered at Berlin's iconic Brandenburg Gate, leaving flowers, candles, and rainbow flags.
02:51Now, with investigators still working to determine whether anyone else was involved, Germany says it is reviewing security for upcoming
02:59Pride events.
03:00And organizers of World Pride in Amsterdam say they're watching the situation closely as celebrations there get underway this week.
03:07Now to the war in Iran.
03:09After 13 straight days of U.S. strikes, the military campaign paused over the weekend.
03:15It's not clear why the U.S. temporarily stopped striking Iran.
03:19The law comes, as Oman says, talks with Iran about reopening the Strait of Hormuz are making progress.
03:26Still, hundreds of vessels remain backed up in the critical shipping lane.
03:30U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz told NBC News the president is giving diplomatic talks some space
03:37as discussions continue.
03:39What the president is doing right now, as we've seen all along, is giving some talks some space.
03:46Talks are ongoing.
03:47They're happening at every level, from the more technical aspect of it all the way to the highest levels, of
03:55course, within both the Iranian government and the U.S. government.
03:58Iran's foreign ministry is pushing back, saying Tehran is not seeking talks with the United States.
04:04Meanwhile, Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis attacked Saudi oil facilities along the Red Sea over the weekend.
04:11And Iran is threatening retaliation after accusing Ukraine of targeting one of its ships in the Caspian Sea.
04:18Iranian officials say at least one person was killed.
04:21Ukraine says it targeted cargo vessels under international sanctions that were being used to transport military cargo between Iran and
04:30Russia.
04:31Europe is starting the week in a race against time and unfavorable weather, as massive wildfires continue to spread across
04:39France, Spain, and now parts of Italy.
04:42In southwest France, the infernos have now forced more than a quarter million people to evacuate, with flames burning just
04:49outside Bordeaux.
04:51Video from the region shows entire forests reduced to charred landscape, while thousands of evacuees are spending the night in
04:58emergency shelters.
04:59In Spain, firefighting planes are still hammering hot spots as crews work to keep new fires from erupting.
05:06Some of the most powerful images this weekend didn't come from the flames themselves, but from rescuers, stopping to give
05:13water to exhausted dogs, rabbits, even a fox escaping the fires.
05:19Meanwhile, new burners have flared in Sicily, adding Italy to a growing list of countries battling extreme fire conditions.
05:26Pope Leo is asking people around the world to pray for the victims and first responders.
05:31But the big concern this morning is what comes next.
05:35Forecasters say temperatures are expected to climb again this week, with little to no rain in sight, setting up a
05:41race to get these fires under control before conditions get even worse.
05:46Back in this country, key parts of President Trump's mail-in voting order are staying on hold in 23 states
05:53for now, but the legal battle is far from over.
05:55A federal appeals court in Boston has rejected the Trump administration's request to let major pieces of the executive order
06:03take effect before the midterm elections.
06:05The order would expand the federal government's role in mail-in voting.
06:09It calls for the Department of Homeland Security to help create state-by-state lists of eligible voters, and for
06:16the Postal Service to verify mail-in voters using those lists.
06:20The First Circuit said the Constitution leaves election administration largely to the states.
06:26Judges also warned the order could create an unprecedented level of federal involvement and sow confusion this close to November.
06:33But the ruling only applies to the 23 states that filed the lawsuit.
06:38That leaves the country with a patchwork of rules after a different federal appeals court recently allowed the order to
06:44move forward elsewhere.
06:45It's still unclear whether the Postal Service will try to implement the changes in states not covered by the injunction.
06:52And the Justice Department has indicated it might ask the Supreme Court to take up the case.

07:09For comfort, he clung to a stuffed orangutan that became his constant companion.

07:35He's also moved on from his stuffed orangutan, trading it for real playmates.

07:42The zoo, get this, received more than 2,500 birthday cards from fans.
