00:00I've looked at, you know, sort of spiritual books and history books, but I feel like this
00:07is like a walk into one of those books. And I feel like if that walk is continued,
00:14it's definitely inspiring to walk away and get a clear understanding of the work that has been
00:22done to lay the grounds for a space like this. And so I hope that these benches have all kinds
00:31of
00:31scratches and scars and characteristics that have been taken in by all the books that have come
00:38to have a seat here. That in itself becomes a historical moment for me to see that the layers
00:47of patina and life that has come and gone. So the wood didn't come in too long a plank. So
00:54we had
00:54to join these two planks together. And then I really like the idea of when you touch the material that
01:03you never run into a tough point. You know, I've worked on the benches for, like I said, about
01:09three to four years. And it was not to sound cliche, but it was the spirit of Obama. It makes
01:16me happy.
01:17It makes my studio happy. There's a group of us that really feel a part of Chicago when they think
01:27about this space, because I feel like this space is a strong representation of Chicago.
