Ukraine's political tensions remain unresolved despite President Volodymyr Zelensky appointing an acting defence minister and a new commander-in-chief. Protests continue across Ukrainian cities, with demonstrators demanding the reinstatement of former Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, whose removal has sparked widespread public backlash. Many of his supporters, particularly younger Ukrainians, view him as a key figure behind the country's technological and military innovation and have refused to back down despite the government's leadership changes. Fedorov has also rejected alternative government roles offered by Zelensky, insisting that only positions with real authority can influence the country's wartime strategy. While the appointment of General Mykhailo Drapatyi has been welcomed by many within the military, it has failed to end the political unrest. The continuing demonstrations highlight growing frustration among sections of the public and suggest that the leadership reshuffle has not resolved the crisis, leaving Zelensky facing sustained political pressure even as Ukraine remains at war.
