A Ethiopian Wolf is one of the rarest carnivores in the world and Africa’s most endangered predator. Found only in the highlands of Ethiopia, these elegant wolves live in alpine grasslands and mountain ecosystems at high elevations.
With their reddish coat, long legs, and narrow muzzle, Ethiopian wolves are perfectly adapted for hunting in open landscapes. Unlike many wolves, they mainly feed on small mammals, especially rodents such as giant mole rats.
Ethiopian wolves live in social groups but often hunt alone. They play an important role in maintaining the balance of their mountain ecosystems, but face serious threats from habitat loss, disease, and human-wildlife conflict. 🐺⛰️🌿
