A Bat-Eared Fox is a small African canine famous for its enormous ears, which can grow to around 13 cm (5 inches) long. Found across the grasslands and savannas of eastern and southern Africa, these oversized ears provide exceptional hearing and also help release body heat in warm environments.

Unlike most foxes, the bat-eared fox has a diet dominated by insects, especially termites and dung beetles. Using its sensitive hearing, it can detect insects moving underground before quickly digging them out. It also eats other small animals and plant material when available.

Bat-eared foxes are highly social and are often seen living in pairs or family groups. Their extraordinary hearing, unusual insect-based diet, and distinctive appearance make them one of Africa’s most fascinating wild canines. 🌾🐾✨
