00:01When we perform microblading, it comes with a sound.
00:07Some people find it very eerie, but the sound is actually an indicator for us as artists
00:13that we are hitting the right layer of skin.
00:19My name is Taylyn Lewis and I am getting microblading done today.
00:23I initially heard about microblading about two years ago and it sparked my interest.
00:28I have always had very fine eyebrows, very thin, fine hair on my eyebrows.
00:34So I've always had to fill it in.
00:36Doing my eyebrows every morning is definitely a chore.
00:39I just want to wake up and go and still look cute at the end of the day.
00:43Having to, you know, rely on my eyebrow pencil, it is like, yeah, it's a little bit annoying.
00:48I have never received any eyebrow treatments before, so it's going to be very new to me.
00:56I'm obsessed with eyebrows and I understand a lot of people also feel the same way about it.
01:02My name is Lindsay Ta. I'm the founder of Microblading LA.
01:05I started my permanent makeup career ten years ago.
01:09Prior to permanent makeup, I was a nail artist and my family owned a few nail salons in LA.
01:14So I really learned to have a steady hand from doing ten perfect nails every day for my clients.
01:20After some time and really perfecting my skill in microblading and really finding my true calling and the passion in
01:29this industry,
01:29not only did I start getting a demand for it from clients,
01:34but I also started getting phone calls of people that wanted to learn how to do what I did.
01:38When the demand started picking up, we realized that it was time to open up a studio and academy,
01:43and today we have students coming from all over the world to learn the art of microblading from us.
01:49Microblading LA is probably the only microblading I've researched.
01:53Looking at everyone's results that I've seen thus far, it looks really good.
01:57Just excited to get it going.
02:04When we start consultation, I immediately start profiling my clients when they are talking,
02:10when there is muscle movements, when they smile and laugh.
02:16We have very large muscles in our forehead,
02:18so it's important to notice if there's any asymmetry and how much asymmetry is there.
02:27It's really important that we give them results that they can maintain.
02:32We use a string and we really start mapping the asymmetry that is there.
02:39Within those perfect lines, we make points so we connect and create the brow shape.
02:49After our pre-draw session, that's when we apply numbing cream.
02:56It will stay on for 30 minutes to get maximum effect.
03:05We gently place our needles in the pigment.
03:14We place it on the skin gently to make sure that we are creating fine, thin lines.
03:24It's really important that we capture the shape that we have pre-drawn.
03:29We do something called a first pass, which is the first strokes we place throughout the eyebrow.
03:42It's extremely important that we hit the right layer of the skin for the strokes to stay one to three
03:49years.
03:50We're so impressed.
03:59Tailin is so sweet and she is just like a glow of happiness.
04:03She definitely had some asymmetry, natural asymmetry with her eyebrows.
04:07and for us it's more important to create something that comes across very
04:12natural and creating the most symmetry that we can with what our clients come
04:17in with my experience with microblading it was absolutely like just fantastic
04:26it's everything that I could have hoped for it was easy smooth sailing didn't
04:32hurt I'm super super like just happy with my results I see what Lindsay meant when
04:38she was like you know you're gonna want to scratch don't scratch because I was so
04:42tempted to be like oh like just take it off it looked nasty do you know what a
04:47caterpillar's fur looks like that's exactly what like this the eyebrows look
04:51like I just wanted to follow up and see how her eyebrows was healing and she was
04:56ecstatic and really happy with her eyebrows and she even started asking me
05:01about being a student and our course outline hopefully I will be a
05:05microblading student because I definitely have like this a new found obsession
05:09with microblading what I did for aftercare was I basically just use the
05:13ointment that Lindsay gave me twice a day in the morning and at night I definitely
05:17hope to work alongside Lindsay performing microblading she's absolutely amazing the
05:22best microblading technique out there I plan to definitely keep up my brows
05:28forever for the rest of my life so every two years I'm gonna go and get my
05:33microblading done I'm obsessed thank you for watching refinery 29 to watch more
