00:08I live in the capital region of New York with my boyfriend David, and the house is between
00:12150 to 300 square feet, depending on the loft size as well. I paid $26,000 for my tiny home,
00:19and it's the best price that I could find in the country.
00:29This is the dinette here. It was intimidating just designing the house. I started out looking
00:34at other people's designs online and, like, YouTube videos that described how to, like,
00:39draw a layout. Pretty much every corner of the house has some kind of storage in it. You kind
00:43of have to utilize every nook and cranny to get stuff where you need it. We have storage seats.
00:47We have storage under the stairs. We have storage in the toe kicks, just everywhere.
00:52My storage seat is basically my stash of yarn and crochet projects, all my work in progress.
00:58Before we had anything in the house, it felt smaller. Like, it was just, like, this big box,
01:02so we were like, oh, God, we would never fit in here. But then as you put stuff in, it
01:07grew for
01:09some reason. It seemed way bigger. And this is our kitchen. We had, like, a really weird incident
01:13with a glass crystal ball that we have. It basically made, like, a laser through the glass
01:18ball and burned, like, an indentation in the wood. And we realized, like, okay, that's kind of scary.
01:24Yeah, we kept waking up, like, oh, what's that pleasant smell? And it's like, oh, my house is
01:27burning. Okay, that's it. The other thing would be the electricity situation. Because we have the
01:32house plugged in in kind of a janky way, it's just, like, we can have the kettle on, but then
01:36we can't
01:36have the TV on, and we can have the air conditioning on, but don't turn on the water.
01:40There's just an error that we made, like, figuring out how long of wires we needed to
01:44the electrical. We weren't able to, like, cook a lot, so we had ramen and, like, couscous
01:49and sardines for a couple of months, and that got boring really quick. But now that we have
01:52a mini fridge, we're able to make, like, really easy meals with, like, sandwiches and, like,
01:56bagels and cream cheese. But we're really looking forward to cooking in the future, so we've
02:00already bought something, like, instant pot and induction cooktop. And down here is our
02:04bathroom. Here, I'll show you the sliding door.
02:13Slide's open and closed. Our water system is a really special water system. The concept
02:17is originally from the ISS, Up and Outer Space. They're still working out different kind of
02:22kinks with the system. Winter was just super brutal this year. We had to figure out all different
02:26ways to keep the water system, like, unfrozen. We had to, like, learn about how to insulate
02:32different pipes and stuff. It was really tricky. When we were designing the house, we were able
02:36to make the ceiling heights tall enough for David. He's, like, 6'5", so that was really
02:41important. However, going in the shower, if he lets his hair grow out too tall, his hair will, like,
02:46rub on the beam on the ceiling. So it's kind of a tight fit for him. So this is the
02:53loft up here.
02:55Before we got into tiny homes, we were looking up, like, RVs. Just looking through, like, Google
02:59images, I found pictures of tiny houses, and I was just, like, super intrigued. I worked retail for
03:05five years. Having the tiny house has allowed me to try to figure out what I want to do next
03:10in life.
03:11I'm really interested in doing things with my voice, like voice acting. I love music and singing
03:16and stuff like that. I really want to be able to pursue my passion for art and crafts. Right now,
03:21it's more of a hobby, but I really want to turn it into more of a career. Having a tiny
03:25house kind of
03:26feels like a sanctuary to allow us to concentrate on those kinds of things that we really want to
03:30pursue. Being in this house will help us save money, and if we have jobs, we'll do, like, part-time
03:35jobs,
03:36and we'll be able to really, like, get into the things that we love. I'm not sure where to begin
03:40with my stuffed animal collection. I have so many. As an artist, I definitely appreciate, like, some of
03:47the craftsmanship that goes into stuffed animals and the designs. A lot of stuffed animals that I've kept
03:54as a kid were kind of like my friends growing up, especially since I didn't have a lot of, like,
04:00actual friends growing up, and they're always there for me. When we wake up in the morning,
04:04it's usually, like, I roll out of bed, go down the stairs, we'll make some tea, you know, we'll take
04:09our showers. Tea is the important thing. Tea, yeah. Tea happens in the morning. One of my favorite parts of
04:15the home is definitely all the different windows we have in the house. It really, like, makes the whole
04:19house open and airy and brings a lot of natural sunlight in. My favorite part of the house is Chelsea.
04:25She's so sweet. We met in seventh grade, and I just had a lot of fun just, like, nagging him,
04:30so. The harassment was very endearing, so I guess it all just worked out. Yeah. The best part about
04:36living on our own is the freedom that it gives us. We want to avoid winter if possible. This year
04:41kicked our butts real hard. We plan to move down south, hopefully closer to the beach on the coast
04:46somewhere. We can stay here, we can bring the house with us. I guess the sky's the limit with where
04:52we
04:52want to bring it.
