00:05This video is brought to you by S.T.A.L.A.
00:39I think us women always feel sometimes, oh, can you do this?
00:42Like, can you fix this light bulb?
00:43Can you do this?
00:44Just because we may not have time or we just feel like we need to, but we can do anything
00:48that you guys can.
00:50We just have to put our mind to it, you know?
00:58They can tell you a little bit about what's going to happen at the rally, but I don't
01:01think you can really comprehend it until you live it.
01:03The whole rally concept, that it was female empowerment, so I decided that it was time
01:08to take the plunge and train and really go for it.
01:18Never stop asking questions and trusting your experience and who you are.
01:25We trained, I got certified in four-wheel drive because I never really driven off course like
01:30that, and then I did navigation training.
01:33I got to learn everything myself.
01:34We got our coordinates at the first checkpoint, and now we've got to plot them all out, which
01:38is no small feat.
01:39You can't plan too far ahead because if you do, it'll actually kind of cripple you.
01:44You have to be able to shuck and jive a bit.
01:46I mean, I can break it down into a science, into every little leg and every little triangulation,
01:50and that's fine, but we went, and we went on a road that we saw on the map, and suddenly
01:55it disappeared.
01:55At that point, I'm like, the science of mapping is irrelevant, and it's all about instincts.
02:01The feeling of being able to control such a big object and be sliding at the same time,
02:08and I love that feeling.
02:12This is actually what we use to measure the degrees.
02:15This arrow needs to always be in the direction of travel.
02:18If you don't, you'll end up going in the opposite direction.
02:24I knew it was going to be life-changing and difficult and empowering all at the same time,
02:29but I didn't know to the extent I feel more independent.
02:32You know, it says it's an eight-day rally, but it really is 10 days, 12 days overall that
02:38you're cut off, focused on one thing in a community of women who have chose to develop
02:43their character in the same way, and that's empowering in itself.
02:49Kira and I decided to take on the electric car this year, and it's totally new.
02:54We pioneered it.
02:55I had no idea going in, like, how many challenges you would have with just a two-wheel drive car.
03:00I knew that, you know, the terrain, it's going to be impossible, or close to impossible to
03:03do it, but the car did amazing until we hit sand, which is the majority of the desert.
03:09So we had a hole in it yesterday, and I told the mechanics about it to maybe get a patch,
03:14and they just said, I think it's going to be okay.
03:16It's just amazing to be able to dig yourself out with a shovel, or, you know, jacking your
03:20car up, putting rocks under the tire to try to get out.
03:26I love that it pushes you to your limits.
03:30The gazelles especially have showed me firsthand that you can talk your way out of any hole
03:36and dig yourself out, and don't look back, because there's tomorrow to be better.
03:44We did it.
03:45Yeah, she was giving up.
03:46She's like, we can't, we're not going to do this.
03:48I'm like, we're in this together, we just got to keep going.
03:51We have the will to want to, you know, change something within ourselves, which hopefully
03:56will change, you know, the outcome of our lives.
04:06Wait for the pieces, for the night, for the girls, I'm in judgment, yeah, keep touching
04:12ourselves, and my dreams right there.
04:14And I don't know how to stop, because it brings back the feeling.
04:21Little by little, we're seeing it in this whole movement with female empowerment.
04:24At least we're having a dialogue, opening it up, and talking about it to do something about
04:28it.
04:29But this rally is a perfect example of how we're putting the words into action.
04:34We spend way too much time debating and discussing with no outcome, and I think our generation
04:39is really set up with it.
04:41But what I always come into every situation with is we are all equals, we're all human
04:45beings at the end of the day, like, regardless of our culture, of our language, we all have
04:50that common goal.
04:51I love seeing each and every gazelle come out of this with a newfound confidence that they
04:56didn't even know that they had.
04:58I think I'm just super proud and honored to be a part of this rally.
05:03I would do it again in a heartbeat.
05:04It's just a once in a lifetime experience.
