00:11When you're like a brown girl in comedy, you have to kind of love Mindy Kaling because

00:18My first memory of Mindy Kaling, I think, like most people, is her as Kelly from The Office,
00:24Kelly Kapoor.
00:25But she was just like so funny and I'd never seen a woman of color play this like awkward,
00:30weird, kind of uncomfortable character before.
00:33She gets to be kind of like crazy and different.
00:35I think that's really cool to be able to see that and to have that.
00:38She is a gift and an inspiration to all women, but especially for little tiny brown girls.
00:44All right, let's do this.
00:45I'm ready to make Mindy the hell out.
00:47And so it begins.
00:56I'm excited to have the look of Kelly just because she is such a girly girl.
01:00I am not that much of a girly girl and that's why it's so exciting for me to be able

01:04Her face is very, very soft, very like a natural look.
01:08Like a no makeup makeup look.
01:11She's ready to talk gossip.
01:13She's ready to look great and also like find out the dish on Will and Kate.
01:20She's got like blunt bangs.
01:22They're like almost on their way to being Betty Page bangs, but they're not quite there.

01:32I love this lip.
01:33I would never wear my lips like this or my eyes.
01:37So it's very cool to see this as like, you know, just living my Kelly Caport truth.
01:52This is Mindy Kaling from the Mindy Project.
01:55You have her with a single braid, which is her kind of like, I'm ready to work.

02:02And then also like her makeup looks pretty dramatic around the eyes to me, but I don't
02:08wear a lot of makeup.
02:08So maybe it's just a normal eye look for other people who wear more makeup.
02:12Like a lot of eyeliner, a little smoky.
02:15She's got some false lashes, some falsies in this photo, which I never really do.
02:21But when I do, I feel like a million bucks of like, hello world.
02:24She has kind of like a maroon look.
02:27She's just like ready to cause drama.
02:30Oh my God.
02:32I'm so not used to having my eyes and the cheeks filled in this much.
02:37This definitely reminds me of Mindy on the Mindy Project.
02:40She's just like very like put together, but like I could be up to no good at the same time.
02:49Wrinkle in Time is going to be crazy.
02:51One of the things I first see is that hair.
02:54She's got the double like Princess Leia kind of thing going on and then it comes around the front and
02:59then braids up top.
03:00How long did it take to do that?
03:02Probably very long.
03:03Probably more than 15 minutes for sure about how much time I put into my hair.
03:09And her makeup, you have like this blue eyeshadow and like a deep burgundy lip.
03:13It's just like a lot of mixing of styles I think for makeup.
03:17You know that this is going to be from something otherworldly because of how different the makeup is.
03:23Especially for Mindy.
03:29Oh my God.
03:32I do feel like a space empress.
03:36This is crazy.
03:37The hair is so crazy.
03:39This is intense.
03:40And this shirt.
03:41I mean the makeup.
03:42I'm getting more Queen Amidala vibes than I am actually Princess Leia because it's so much more like regal.
03:58It's been really cool just being able to try on like so many different looks.
04:03I just feel like I've been playing dress up all day.
04:05It's been so fun.
04:06I don't have the skill to do any of this or any of this hair stuff.
04:10So it was just cool to be able to play dress up with like people who know what they're doing.
04:15And do it well.
