00:00Hey everyone, it's me, Jen, here with Refinery29.
00:03Today we're doing a spooky cocktail.
00:05We're making one of my favorite drinks, the Bloody Mary.
00:08But this time we're doing kind of like a creepy twist.
00:11So let's get started.
00:16So we're going to start off with the cocktail first.
00:18We're going to need vodka.
00:19I chose Tito's.
00:21It's the best.
00:23Tomato juice, a wedge of lime and lemon,
00:26some olives, Tabasco,
00:28Worcestershire sauce, horseradish,
00:31celery salt, paprika, and salt and pepper.
00:33The first step is to get your lime and lemon
00:37and squeeze a wedge in.
00:41So once your citrus guys are in,
00:44you're going to pour two ounces of vodka.
00:46And I'm just going to eyeball it
00:48because that's just how I roll.
00:51That looks like two ounces, I guess.
00:54And then you're going to go in for the tomato juice
00:57and you're going to need four ounces of that.
01:00I guess I should shake it.
01:05Oh, it's thick.
01:07To add the spicy factor of the cocktail,
01:10you're going to get your Tabasco sauce
01:12and you're going to do two dashes in there.
01:14Two.
01:15Next you're going to add one teaspoon of horseradish.
01:18And yeah, if you can't really take this heat,
01:21then don't put a lot in
01:23because this can get very overpowering.
01:25And then you add a pinch of celery salt
01:27and a pinch of paprika.
01:33Then you're going to add two dashes of Worcestershire sauce.
01:38That's good.
01:39And then you can finish off the drink
01:41with a dash of freshly ground salt and pepper.
01:45And then you're going to add ice into the shaker
01:48and then you're just going to shake it up.
01:55So once you've finished shaking your cocktail,
01:57you're going to pour it into a nice glass like so.
02:01Ooh, that's good.
02:11But before you can drink it,
02:13we need to work on our spooky garnish.
02:15And so what you're going to need for the garnish
02:18is one stalk of celery,
02:20two little radishes.
02:23So I'm going to grab one out
02:24and then I'm just going to kind of trim it
02:26so it's not too high.
02:27So I'm going to get my drink
02:28and then I kind of just eyeball it.
02:31So I'm just probably going to take like two inches off of it.
02:36Yeah, that looks good.
02:38And then I'm going to get two small radishes
02:40and these are going to be for the eyeballs.
02:43And I'm going to trim them.
02:45I'm going to cut off the edges
02:46so they're nice and circular.
02:53Once you've trimmed them,
02:54then you're going to get a peeler
02:55and you're just going to do some strips on them.
02:59Make sure you leave a bit of red on the sides
03:02so they look like veins.
03:04So once you have your peeled radishes,
03:06you're not done,
03:07you're going to get some pimento olives
03:09and these are going to act as the pupils.
03:12Now we're going to get a little bit crafty.
03:14We're going to break apart some toothpicks
03:15and getting kind of like a short stubby one,
03:18we're going to get the sharp edge
03:19and we're going to put it inside the radish.
03:22And then you're going to get your pupil olive
03:25and you're going to place it where the bit of wood shows.
03:29So there we have a finished eyeball.
03:31So now that we have our glorious little eyeballs,
03:34we're going to connect the two
03:35and you're just going to get half a toothpick
03:38and you're going to stab it in the middle of it.
03:42And then you get the other one
03:44and you're just going to connect them together.
03:48Cool, okay.
03:50And then you get another two bits of toothpick
03:54and then you're going to stab the celery.
03:58So these are going to act as placeholders for the radishes.
04:03And then you're just going to place the radishes
04:05onto the toothpicks that you put onto the celery.
04:08And there you go!
04:09Got a little, cute little guy with crazy eyes.
04:13And then you're just going to put him or her in your drink.
04:17And you've got a lovely little buddy
04:19to drink with your cocktail.
04:23I've got a little green straw to match the celery.
04:25And voila! You're done!
