00:06Volpartho. What we do know is that officers attached to Highway Patrol have been conducting
00:11their regular speed enforcement duties last night around 11 o'clock on Anzac Bridge in Sydney's CBD
00:17when they pulled over a BMW coupe that had been travelling at an alleged 94 kilometres per hour
00:24in a signposted 60 zone. Now the driver, 22 year old, was subjected to a roadside breath test of which
00:33it's alleged he returned a negative result and he was issued an infringement notice. Less than two
00:39hours later, so about one o'clock this morning, that same vehicle was again detected by a highway
00:45patrol on Anzac Bridge. This time it's alleged to have been travelling at 109 kilometres per hour in
00:51that same 60 zone. Police followed that vehicle as it exited the bridge onto Victoria Road in Roselle
00:57where they pulled over the driver and he was then subjected and given a roadside drug test of which
01:04it's alleged he returned a positive result for cocaine. Now since then he's been issued an
01:10infringement notice which carries a penalty of up to $3,000 in fines but he's also had his
01:16international driver's licence suspended for six months. That means that here in New South Wales he
01:21has revoked his driving privileges as well. Police say that investigations into this particular matter
01:27are still ongoing. There's also been a secondary oral test that was taken at the time and that is
01:33now undergoing further analysis, Lorna. Ari, has there been anything from Football Australia?
01:38Sorry, Football Australia have only just recently issued a statement. They say that they're aware of
01:43the allegations against one of their players. They say that they will continue to support
01:47that player. They've been in contact with him and they will continue to monitor the situation
01:52and the process as it continues to unfold. But of course Football Australia do have quite a strict
01:58drug regulation policy that's actually monitored and managed under Sport Integrity Australia.
02:03Now that means that players and officials that do test positive to illicit substances can be subject to
02:10a four-year ban and that's if they don't have a therapeutic use exemption. That can be reduced
02:16to three months if it's found that in particular incidents, for example, that the use of that
02:22substance was out of competition and wasn't for performance enhancement. But Christian Volpato had
02:27made international headlines when on the eve of the World Cup earlier this year, he switched allegiances
02:33from Italy to Australia. He made his World Cup debut playing for the Socceroos as a midfielder.
02:39Of course, this is still very much subject to an ongoing investigation and we'll continue to bring
