00:00RCMAS held their band launch for their new costumes for Carnival 2027 at the same time, a new addition to
00:06live performances in Soka made their debut.
00:09The Princess of Soka is launching a new band, the Experience Band.
00:19So everybody, I want you to put your hands in the air and make some noise and welcome Mariela Blackmon
00:30and the Experience Band.
00:57Anala Blackmon was not the only Soka artist to perform with her new band while the models displayed the costumes
01:04on stage.
01:18And the Princess of Soka, in addition to launching her new music band, launched her own section in RCMAS for
01:25Carnival 2027.
01:27We spoke with one of the mass band's leaders, Justin McIntosh, about what appears to be its new phase.
01:33So this is actually a transition from Ronnie and Caro to RCMAS, basically my parents to me.
01:41So yeah, we're basically trying to attract the younger crowd, show them that we're not just stuck in the past,
01:45basically,
01:46and we have everything for everybody, the old, young, whatever.
01:50We basically have something for everybody inside, and that's kind of the point we're trying to prove.
01:55As you build on the foundation of your parents?
01:57As I build on the foundation from Ronnie and Caro, transition into RCMAS.
02:03Justin's parents are Ronnie and Caroline McIntosh.
02:06What is the biggest challenge you face in terms of dealing with not just the band launch, but getting your
02:11mask on the road next year?
02:13The biggest challenge, me personally, is people taking me serious.
02:18You know, I may be younger in the space.
02:20So a lot of people may think that, you know, I'm just kind of here for shoe or whatever,
02:24but that's what I'm trying to prove as well, that I'm not just here for shoe.
02:27I'm here to take this to another level, basically.
02:29And while Ronnie McIntosh was not on stage at the end of the band launch, he was present at the
02:34event.
02:35This year means a lot. As I take more of the mantle, it means pretty much it's exciting year.
02:41I can't lie, we have a lot of new exciting things coming as I kind of step in a higher
02:45position.
02:46So, yeah, it's coming up to the road next year.
02:49I just hope you all keep looking out because it is very personal to us this year.
02:54I can't really disclose the reasons, but it is a big year for us.
