00:00so he was on a game-by-game basis he probably was more impressive in 2024 when he was out
00:06there
00:06i mean look 58 is nothing to sneeze at it's still really good that's a pretty big drop for someone
00:11who in all the other different all the other different subjective exercises that we've been
00:17going through this year you know specifically the one that we talked about a lot the last couple
00:22weeks at jeremy fowler espn poll of coaches and coordinators in front office people where he was
00:28in that yeah i feel like that's where nico falls with a lot of people is fans media evaluators
00:36things like that is he's not quite in that tippy top crust of guys but he ain't outside the top
00:41i think
00:42the biggest thing about him is that right now it's if the texans offense is lagging or our laggards um
00:49he is the guy that teams are focused on taking away like don't let nico collins kill us all right
00:55we're gonna just do everything we can to kill nico collins or not let nico collins kill us because
01:00we don't think that they have anybody else who's gonna kill us yep and that's gonna tamp things
01:04down a little bit he finished last year eighth in yards per game the emergence of jackson smith and
01:09jigba obviously was a one of the big things that happened last year he might be in that in the
01:15top
01:15one right right right yeah um so i think that this like with so many as it is with so
01:21many guys on
01:22the offense it's it comes down to okay with a more potent offense and with a better cj stroud
01:28then yeah nico's gonna get a whole lot more respect yeah but we're probably the the fact that like you
01:33pointed out he's coming off a year in which he played more games and statistically and everything
01:38it doesn't look that much different um than the year before except the the bloom is off the rose a
01:44little
01:44bit in terms of how people think about the texans yes and uh that matters nico and everybody else
01:49becomes a little bit more of an afterthought offensively when everybody's so hyper focused
01:53on the texans defense when they're having conversations about the texans yeah do we have
01:56the we got the video lined up byron okay so we'll play this so it's this is the this is
02:00the vignette
02:00that they put together for nico collins making the top 100 this is these are always fun to play
02:04because there's a lot of mark vandermeer calling touchdowns and long catches and things like that
02:08also among the people you're going to hear in this you're going to hear you'll recognize the voices
02:13there's a lot of derrick stingley in this you know he goes up against nico in practice every day
02:17uh there's a lot of cj stroud one of the names that one of the voices you'll hear in this
02:23a couple
02:24of times you may not recognize is alec pierce who plays the same position in the same division as nico
02:29so let's hit play on it here we'll celebrate nico collins number 58 in the nfl's top 100
02:40i don't think anybody can cover him one-on-one like it's it's just not possible it's really not
02:51when i first got here i told him man it's a superstar and i think he's up to that level
02:56now
02:57cj surveying the field throws caught nico just go to number 12 he gets it for you
03:05you know double on and rotate to him and you know give him all that superstar treatment
03:10let's keep an eye on that ball going to 12 in thick moments fast strong catchability
03:15but a strong connection made to nico collins collins with yards after the catch
03:22he's one of my favorite receivers to watch honestly to study stroud well protected and
03:27there's nico collins and nico collins will glide into the end zone an opening drive texan touchdown
03:34he's big tall athletic does a great job at the line winning against press i love watching him play
03:40this game man i like nico's game he's a big body receiver but he can still take the top that's
03:51cam
03:51you got speed you got quickness you got everything i love nico collins uses that big body and then
03:58look at the finish that's what happens when you're six four two twenty two nico collins has it taking
04:04off we're kind of holding down a little bit and then stroud back to throw taking a deep shot again
04:10for collins adjustment i think it was like the last play of the game they throw it up to him
04:15he just makes
04:15a catch and seals the game on us collins delivers tampa bay week two the corner was pressed and took
04:22off and i still trusted him just put in a spot only where he can get it for him to
04:26work his body get his
04:27body in bounds you know it was a super cool play touchdown texans what a catch
04:34he's top five he's top three in the in the league right now like he doesn't get the recognition all
04:39the
04:40tom i think he's one of the most underrated players in nfo there you go who's that at the
04:46end alec pierce okay that was alec pierce it was derrick stingley right i figured it was either alec
04:51pierce or reed blankens or cooper dejean sounded like a nondescript white guy
05:01i love my wife very much uh we have uh she's born me many children
05:08doing what she's supposed to do isn't that the best he's dope
05:14let me tell you um so nico makes the list
05:19cam curl
05:22i know i it was funny because i i was watching i had the sound turned down on the video
05:27i'm like
05:27oh i'm gonna have to explain who that is
05:30okay all right i don't uh i know there's a lot of people listening who i think heard cj say
05:35i told him when i got here it's my job to make you a superstar and that's where he is
05:39now
05:39did his job all right good job cj
05:42yeah did his job where's his contract can you imagine that's his argument can you imagine that's
05:50his argument mullah get is going in there like his job was to make nico collins a superstar
05:56it's not the new england game not his job not his job yeah his job was to make nico yeah
06:04i mean he
06:05wasn't out there yeah so uh yeah so nico nico number 58 um i made nico collins a superstar and
06:11when he's not available for the new england game my own creation isn't out there how am i supposed
06:16to do that it's like a surgeon without my tools this is the top 100 thing in the life that
06:20happened
06:20that's happened in the last 24 hours that that made me upset yeah top 100 type upset didn't lose
06:26sleep yeah maybe bo nicks 59th on the nfl's top 100 that's one of those things set when lamar
06:36jackson was 69th like a week ago yeah and you and i think it was last monday and you and
06:40i are like
06:40well there's no way cj made the top 100 and then now bo nicks is 59th and i'm like okay
06:45maybe he is
06:46no that's where i don't think people were i don't you know i don't get as worked up about the
06:49nfl top
06:50100 as you do i think it's a stupid voting system and yet i like the fact that people do
06:54care about
06:54it makes me angry because it's a stupid voting system that ends up with bo nicks ranked above
06:59lamar jackson right it just it's it's asinine it's asinine but i'm not gonna ryan clark it and
07:06say that this is this is an indication that the players don't respect lamar jackson enough you'll
07:10get fired yeah yeah let go ryan clark was acting like players all got together as a group and said
07:18oh no lamar jackson isn't really that good like no it's just it's a flawed way it works it's a
07:22flawed
07:23system the way it works now i am starting to think yeah because when we pre-nfl top 100 i
07:32know
07:32i came in here and i you know said these are the players i think with the texans could make
07:36it you
07:36know based on my intense research and uh love of the nfl top 100 i feel like i know the
07:42dynamics of
07:42this system i thought at least one maybe two of these three guys that have never finished in the
07:49top 100 who are on the texans would make it at least one jalen petrie and kalen bullock yeah maybe
07:59all three um i don't know that any of them are making it now i don't know cj stroud is
08:05making it
08:06and i don't know that any of those three defensive backs are making this thing with nico coming in at
08:1058 i just feel like the the football world the players world probably has nico collins higher up
08:17their pecking order of houston texans than they do any of those guys i'm not saying it's deserved
08:21i would put i would possibly put kamari lassiter maybe even ahead of nico collins on something like
08:26this yeah but i'm just knowing how this thing works i think stroud petrie lassiter and bullock
08:34might all be missing out on this there's um there's a there's the other thing that happens with this
08:39poll is that usually certain positions are more heavily weighted than others you got like yeah
08:44proportionally you end up with a lot more quarterbacks on it you know the percentage of
08:48quarterbacks in the league that make the top 100 is a lot higher than the percentage of centers and
08:52guards that make the league which makes sense but i think when you get outside of the marquee skill
08:56positions or cornerback um and kind of the edge rushers yeah the marquee positions then those guys
09:04have a harder time cracking the list until they really establish a reputation so i so i think that
09:10kalem bullock especially is in that boat where i don't think i think teams that have played the
09:15texans have a really high appreciation for kalem bullock i think teams that haven't played the
09:20texans or didn't play them last year especially um are the kalem bullock still just a little bit of a
09:26notion and it's going to take some time for him to really get that respect i think you're in i
09:30think
09:30you're going to end up being right about that i i i think i i mean i i thought that
09:36the fact that
09:37bullock had that huge game on national tv against the bills yeah i thought that jalen petre had that
09:43huge game against the chiefs which included murdering rasheed rice oh yeah cold blood on the
09:47field and kamari lassiter has just been consistently good in big games for the texans i thought at least
09:53one of them would make it man maybe they will still you look at last year's top 100 and only
09:57and since jalen petre's probably listed as a safety on the ballot or whatever well these guys are just
10:03listing their top players yeah they don't even put positions don't matter but whether you call them a
10:07safety or a cornerback or a nickelback or whatever last year safety there were only six safeties on
10:13the list yeah uh in the top 100 yeah so it's just tougher cornerbacks there were only seven uh so
10:19so
10:19for that's going to be really really tough for uh for kamari to to make it when he's still a
10:25younger
10:25player that's kind of overshadowed in terms of name recognition by derrick stingley he's already got
10:31stingley on his own team yeah you're right about that okay let's pretend for a second that lassiter
10:37uh petre and bullock all miss the top 100 you got to pick one to make it next year gun
10:45to your head
10:46life savings on the line you got to pick one to be picked by the players in the very flawed
10:51i think i think it'll be petre again because of uh flair name recognition national games this guy
10:59shows up does big things and that because they're not bound to voting by position like the
11:05you're right where jalen petre is one of these star uh star position players that uh is your
11:11nickelback that just doesn't quite thin he the people what they don't have to think about whether
11:18he's a safety um or anything else they're like oh no yeah jalen petre i really like him that's a
11:23good
11:23one that's that's a good one i'm gonna say lassiter just because i think he might deserve to be there
11:29kamari lassiter you know you said seven corners made it last year i think he might be one of the
11:33seven best corners just in terms of his all-around game well yeah the nfl executives and coaches the
11:39anonymous ones for espn he was 11th yeah yeah yeah he but i feel like he's got a style of
11:44play now
11:45look if he's missing the top 100 this year maybe i'm totally off base on this but i feel he's
11:49got a
11:49style of play yeah that is the kids say slaps it slaps when it comes to peers voting it is
11:55but
11:56to respect his physicality this is where it goes back into people like wanting their specific type
12:00of uh cornerback though i think the the elite man coverage skills are the things that people
12:08hold the highest esteem yeah and they don't he doesn't get as much credit for coming up and
12:12playing the run as effectively well like edge rushers yeah you know the they don't get credit
12:16for setting the edge for being good run defenders for sacking the quarterback yeah all right uh pain
12:21and pendergast with the end of the nine o'clock hour way to go nico 58th on the nfl's top
12:25100
12:25bo nicks 59th trash nico collins got the respect he deserved uh bo nicks the voting systems all
12:35disregard any of this anyway yeah same exact that's how we go with this same it's meaningless
12:40except for when the texans are included we i just said that the same minute of the same segment
