00:13Keegan's family released a statement saying the former England captain and manager had passed away after an illness surrounded by

00:26He revealed in June that he had stage 4 cancer.
00:31Tributes poured in from across the globe for Keegan who twice won the Ballon d'Or in 1978 and 79.
00:40The attacking midfielder was loved at all of his former clubs, most notably Newcastle United who he played for and
00:48managed as well.
00:50Quoting Newcastle's post on X, Longstaff, a former Newcastle player and now playing for Leeds, said that the Newcastle United
00:59man was a living legend and will be missed.
01:04Longstaff's current club Leeds paid tribute to Keegan as well who was involved in some infamous moments against the Whites.
01:11He starred for a 1970s Liverpool outfit that were often challenging for domestic and European honours with Don Revy's side.

01:29He thought today, this initial time, so soon after getting the news, is of heartbreak.
01:37I've seen how Kevin reinvigorated the city and the football club together in the early 80s when I was a
01:44supporter.
01:45And then I was lucky enough to be part of the group of players he inherited when he'd done exactly
01:51the same in the 90s.
01:52He reinvigorated the football club with the city once again.
01:55And it's such a tough time, really, because he wasn't just the manager to us players.
02:04He was like a father figure to us.
02:07You know, our family life, what things we'd done away from the football club was just as important.
02:14And, you know, I was here the day he arrived as a manager and then I was here the day
02:20he left.
02:21And that day was hard to take when he left us.
02:24The dressing room was heartbroken.
02:27And so today is a day of sombre realism.
02:34You're very emotionally charged.
02:37You want to remember the good times, but you just think, you know, such a sad day.
02:44The talk about the same, no one's had any individuals bigger than any football club, and that is rightly so.
02:52But if ever anyone came close to that, it was Kevin.
