00:00But I did it a different way and maybe could be an inspiration to players who don't have or are
00:06not blessed with fantastic ability but make the best of it in a way that it becomes a major effect
00:13on a team or a game.

00:32This is a look back at the life and career of Kevin Keegan.
00:36It's not often I get goose pimples on a signing and this guy, not only did he transform Newcastle United,
00:44he transformed communities.
00:46He made a difference, he touched people's lives. So I had to come down and pay my respects to a
00:51local hero, a Geordie God, a footballing icon, an institution.
00:57God, rest in peace, King Carr.
00:59Rest in peace.

02:06In 1982, Keegan joined Newcastle United, then in the second tier of English football.
02:12His arrival created huge excitement and after retiring as a player, he would later return as manager, helping rebuild the
02:19club's fortunes.
02:20Keegan guided Newcastle back to the top flight and developed a team known for attacking football and ambition.
02:27The club challenged for the Premier League title during the 1995-96 season, where Newcastle led the table before eventually
02:35finishing second.
02:36Keegan later managed England, taking charge in 1999.
02:40His time with the national team included qualification for the European Championship, but he resigned after defeat by Germany in
02:47the final match at the Old Wembley.
02:50Keegan, it's Keegan, it's the life, it's all of, not just Newcastle, the whole of the North East, he just,
02:56he brought what club's like, he's just, he's amazing.
